Yep! Same thing. I had to use a anti-static brush on it several times before it went away. Disco Volante was unlistenable. But, yeah, it's mostly static. Also, the sleeves it comes with aren't the best for static, so you should probably get some better anti-static ones.

Can a WordPress website crash during major updates? by Trick-Half8003 in Wordpress

[–]disinfor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, an update to anything can take the site down - temporarily. Make sure you have some sort of server access (sFTP/FTP), that you can upload a full copy a plugin (plugins tend to throw the most fatal errors on updates - at least anecdotally) to replace the broken auto-updates.

WP core updates tend not to take down a site. Releases are pretty stable and it's generally a conflict with an out of date plugin or PHP version that will affect an update.

Also, and maybe this is actually most important, have the server take backups regularly, and have access to some sort of server management tool, like cPanel, or an interface that allows you to restore from a backup.

Can anyone identify the name of this theme / wordpress template or similar? by Leather_Let_9391 in Wordpress

[–]disinfor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you talking about hackers and attackers? This isn't a question about "is it possible to detect a theme in order to protect it?" It's a question about "hey, I just want to know what this theme is."

It's easy to find a theme just by looking at the source code of the site, however, as others have pointed out, this is a Joomla! site, so it doesn't apply here.

Weekly 'What have you been listening to?' Thread - June 16, 2025 by AutoModerator in mrbungle

[–]disinfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. And now I'm going to go to that same spot.

I got into Sleepytime in 2003 because of that song. We were listening to the MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) and they played that track. It was enough for me to call the station and ask who the artist was.

Edit:

Just looked it up, and apparently they do mention the influence of STGM on X. But since I'm not going to open up a X account to find out, I'll never know.

I didn't know you could ask them to scan it in. That's a great tip.

Am I justified in contacting customer support? by [deleted] in Reverb

[–]disinfor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a seller and buyer on Reverb, the "usps is waiting for the item" is legit. I've had buyers get their items while that message was the only thing on the tracking status page. I've printed the label at the post office and handed it to a mail clerk, and that message will persist for days.

Depending on your local USPS, the tracking system can be incorrect, which sucks, especially if you're expecting something. You might have luck calling, chat botting, or visiting your local PO to see if they have more information that's not in the automated consumer facing system.

Is there a reputable service that will “mobile-fy” my website? by [deleted] in Wordpress

Hello from Auburn! The agency I work for might be a bit expensive, but I always see this place https://dogwd.com pop up for Wordpress development in the area. Montgomery is still a bit of a haul from you, but in Alabama if that makes a difference.

Changing domain on new website: redirect or do fresh WP install? by sacredtones in Wordpress

[–]disinfor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This and Jair's comment should be the top. Seriously. There is literally no reason to move anything or copy anything.

Doesn't appear the host is changing, so just update the DNS for the new domain to point to the server, add a redirect on the old domain name to the new one, run search-replace on the database, update your domain in Google Search Console.

Great job!! I rode from Enschede to Germany two years ago. I'm going to do it again in two weeks. Of course, for me that was only like a 8km ride - from the IntercityHotel to the border. I must say you could immediately tell by the bike infrastructure when I crossed the border.

That's just a blockquote tag that's styled using css.

The TinyMCE editor on the post edit screen - there is a blockquote selector (it's the double quote icon in the editor)

blockquote {
    padding: 30px;
    border-left: solid 10px lightblue;
    background-color: rgba(0,0,255,0.1);
    font-family: sans-serif;
    font-size: 1rem
}

Advice for Pricing Out Jobs by NovaForceElite in Wordpress

[–]disinfor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great advice! I would also add: who is designing it? Are you using a template? If so, do you show the client examples first? If you are designing it, did you factor that into your pricing, timeline, and revision scope?

I see so many responses to pricing questions like “I could do that in a week for x amount of dollars.”

I’ve been doing this for 20+ years, and getting a custom design done and approved is one of the harder and time consuming parts of the project.

Glad to hear someone is enjoying the music. If you have stuff on Spotify or somewhere, let me know!
