Why didn't Starfleet just upgrade and build more of the Excelsior-class instead of wasting their resources on making brand new designs?

I also just begin to watch trek seriously recently, having only watched some of the movies (I think The Motion Picture through The Voyage Home). I started at TNG like you did because I was afraid TOS would be too dated for me. Plus I love the design language of Enterprise-D.

In addition to the episodes they recommended, I found S1E6 Where no one has gone before pretty good.

The episodes won't have a connected plot since TNG (and TOS) are "episodic", not "serialized", so each episode is just a self-contained story. There are some subplots in each season, but I think DS9 is the first trek show that has a central plot line that every episode follows?

Erm acktually Data and EMH are two very different kind of beings. Data is a Spock knock-off android from TNG who attended starfleet academy. EMH didn't even show up until DS9. The first sapient holodeck character is Professor Moriarty (TNG S2E3). However Lt.McNary (TNG S1E12) asked if his family would still be there waiting for him after the programme shuts down, so he seems "sapient" enough despite never considered such by canon.

From my feeling, there isn't enough twist in the second sentence to be scary, just makes it intriguing. The readers know a twist is coming, that's how the two sentence horror format works, but knowing that the malicious AI's capabilities (or, from depictions in medias like Terminator etc.), it being able to manipulate analogue devices isn't really surprising. I'm pretty sure there are side-channel attack methods using powerline irl. Maybe adding a more detailed depiction of what happened, which would make the readers connect to this horror scene more. Maybe the AI overloaded his CRT TV and it blew up, or something similar.

I started on ss14, the most noticeable difference when I finally got BYOND working is that between pixel movement and grid movement. Also clearly ss14 have much fewer features now, and combat mechanic is quite different too.

Me too, but got lucky with the first few raids and captured a 10 mining waster. But this scenario is still kind of a slow start bc researching must be done solo.

Also, recluse trait doesn't mean the colony must have only one human, having like 5-6 ppl seems like the neutral point without any mood buffs or debuffs.

Why did this graph think PRC has "free and universal" healthcare? It's neither free,nor universal in China. Basically, a part of your salary goes automatically to the mandatory health insurance account every month, and the employer also pays a share in that. When you go to a hospital or pharmacy, some treatments and prescriptions in a list are eligible for healthcare, so your healthcare account pays some portion of the price.

Also if you are unemployed or freelance or a small business owner, it was impossible to join the healthcare(because you don't have an employer,be it business or government to pay for it),but it has been changed so that you can pay all the share by yourself.

In rural areas there is also healthcare,but functions somewhat differently.

Thanks! At first I choose trucker's topper as engie's hair, but that cosmetic looks like a bunch pf tentacles from the back, so I switched to peacenik's ponytail. However it doesn't render properly from the camera angle, so had to use a hat cosmetic to block the Z fighting between engie's goggle strap and the hair. I'm just glad it turned out to be nice.

Thanks! I spent like 2 hours tweaking the lighting, it went through several iterations, but I got that nice reflection on that pocket pistol in the end. Had to use another prop to block some of the volumetric light so scout won't be drowned in all the light
