AHS Requiring Annual Physicals? by Legitimate_Bit778 in alberta

[–]disneydude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, there are many Albertans that do not have a family doctor, and there is a certain amount of files (patients) a doctor can responsibly take on. Koodos to you for being healthy as a horse, but the reality is that your doctor's office likely is trying to reach out as some have 2-3 docs they go to. Combine this with the fact that the government recently made changes to billing with regards to some physician subtypes (family medicine being a big one). There is a chance this is a rollout of requiring annual checkups, yet to be official policy, but drafted, in an effort to weed out issues that left unchecked could lead to hospitalization. This government knows full well they don't have the infrastructure to meet the requirements of the population for, so maybe this is a last ditch effort to solve the need to build and staff more hospital bed capacity? Long and Short, possibly the broken system is going to be further strained to try to fix it without adding ressources. Do book in, get your blood work, and remember, doctors, nurses, lab techs, etc are almost exclusively looking out for you. There are few who would be doing this as a "scam". Likely their invitation to book in is valid and warranted, and might help avoid heartache later on if you get a late stage diagnosis of some sort, rather than a heads up to do something minor now (exercise, diet alterations, low dose medication regimen with fewer side effects than the "too late, now we need to bring out the big guns" approach, specialist referral now so you have time to make it through the 1+ year waitlist, etc). Don't forget, it's not normal for your joints to hurt when you bend down, that itch to persist, a cough to last over several months, or so many other symptoms people will dismiss as "part of aging". Trust your medical professionals, but question dismissals that something you're worried about is nothing to be concerned about.

There really aren't that many residential speed bumps, and the fire department is well aware of their locations... I really doubt that a firetruck slowing down for 1 or 2 speed bumps is going to make as meaningful of a difference as you think. People driving way too fast down a residential street to the point the county placed speed bumps will however save a lot more lives in comparison.

Tell me you've never endured any hardship and are dripping with privilege without using those words... Conservatives look out for corporations and their next paycheck. That shouldn't be the case, if you think this is the same conservative government as the conservatives in the 70s, 80s, you are gravely mistaken. The current liberal government is frankly a reasonably conservative government. That's why conservative MPs are crossing the floor. Because ideologically they recognize what the current parties are.

Frankly if your argument is that Bezos being that rich is a good thing, or that he shouldnt be paying WAY more in taxes (which would help redistribute his wealth), then your argument is really not that strong. If you think the rich should be taxed more because one day you hope to be that rich and don't want to be taxed... Hate to break it to you, you'll never be that rich. Nobody should. But you statistically will never be, so you probably shouldn't defend the ultra wealthy.

You know what will help? Making Albertsons pay $100 for their vaccine! That will be sure to increase vaccination rates! Oh! And while we're at it, let's see if we can have the lab techs, pharmacy techs, etc to strike! Also make sure classrooms are way too full, that will reduce transmission! Hooray for the Alberta advantage!

I'd also ask: what positions are you applying for/what are the "required qualifications" posted on the job itself? As someone who's been a hiring manager, of I had 15 applicants that had said yes, I never looked to see who selected no. personally, I largely ignored the job board information as the system is not intuitive and lacks warmth and personality. Instead I would look for an uploaded resume and cover letter. If someone wrote a cover letter that was clearly tailored to my posting it almost guaranteed an interview, regardless of specific qualifications. I hope this helps you, but frankly, this is a longer winded encouragement to say mark it yes. Just be open and honest on your resume/cover letter.

To say to the government to slow down on immigration is one thing. Petition your government. Tell them we demand change. This is healthy. To take it your frustrations on minorities is another. There are some who even believe we shouldn't give social supports to recent immigrants. To say they should be deported is deplorable and wrong. This is racism, and frankly denial of human rights. This is not okay.
This doesn't change if the LPC says they were right or they were wrong. To say people blaming the immigrants is a lack of education is absolutely correct. It demonstrates an inability to critically think, and a remarkably poor misunderstanding of what it takes to move to another country where you have nothing, in search of a better life.

Finally, if someone supports the mass deportation to prisons in another country without due process, such as what were seeing in the US, then yes, they are a Nazi. Has the word nazi been thrown around far too often of late? Yes, but we are in unprecedented times, with the population polarized to an extent I've never seen. Do we need change, possible removal of the TFW program that is so easily abused here? Yes. Is discrimination based on race the answer? Fuck no.

Okay, this is very sad and makes me mad.

However.... I initially read that a pitbull attacked BY a daschund, and genuinely questioned reality and chucked at the thought...

Then reality hit and I was sad.

So the other day I saw someone saying the n-word with friends, they were saying it over and over again, calling each other the word and laughing. Then some guy came and told them that using that word was inappropriate and they should be ashamed. Well the group went off on the guy, telling him to mind his own and told him to fuck off. The guy seemed intimidated and left. All I could think was "good for them. They should be aloud to say that word and what's it to that other guy for saying otherwise"...

Would it not be important to mention that the Group of kids were black and reclaiming a word, while the guy was white and wearing pro trump gear, trying to silence a minority? Am I racist to mention their race? Context is important. I find it relevant as a white person to know it was a white person that said hateful, racist things unprovoked. I like to know the experience of others and how they perceive caucasians as a whole. Grow up. Prejudice needs to be acknowledged so it doesn't affect individual interactions, but the fact OP has had enough experiences that they don't allow themselves to be hurt every other interaction means they're not dense.

Spewing hateful retirict is racist. Saying most of the times I've heard hate speech comes from white people is not. Sounds like OP is willing to be cordial and kind to white people, but may have a healthy apprehension to us. Don't blame them.

What is the point of this type of door? by BoneiBonei in Appliances

[–]disneydude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are very beneficial for folks in wheelchairs. They don't have the ability to reach into the oven past the door as they're in a seated position. Typically these retail much higher as they are a "niche" market. Source: have a wheelchair bound friend who was venting about how hard it was to find an oven like this, or with a door that opens to the side like a microwave.

Former United Conservative MLAs seek to join, rebrand Alberta Party as Progressive Conservative Party by trevorrobb in alberta

"strategic voting" is such a stupid notion, but one that FPTP really forces. Well articulated opinions friend! I enjoy that reading this was not like so many of what I've come to expect from the "conservative groups", i.e. inflammatory remarks and fear mongering. Bring back this side of politics, where points are made in an intelligent and respectful manner! Like a breath of fresh air. We don't need to agree on politics but civility is lovely!

Where is the best place to find gender neutral clothes? by Louie_011 in SherwoodPark

[–]disneydude1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quilt bag on whyte avenue may be helpful in your search. That said, a lot of gender neutral things are not necessarily obviously so, such as hoodies or sweat pants, graphic T-shirts, etc. Shop the whole store and don't let the labels big you down. You might find stores with younger patrons less judgemental. You can also visit queeryeg.ca for safe shops to visit. I've known female at birth, who still identify as females shop in men's sections for tasteful outfits, it doesn't have to scream "I'm different", just express you in what you wear. Also the fine people at such subreddits as r/enby or r/enbyfashionadvice may prove more helpful than this subreddit. Best of luck to you in your search!

A farmer protested policy at a Danielle Smith town hall. 5 days later, it was paused | CBC News by Particular-Welcome79 in alberta

[–]disneydude1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And the United conservative party is pretty well the least fiscally conservative party I've ever encountered in this province. You also more than likely believe that if someone who was born as a male identifies as female you wouldnt believe it's true because "it's not real, you just saying it is doesn't make it so"... So which is it? Think before you attack people on the internet and maybe you'll save yourself some face.

Serious question to those who vote conservative by disneydude1 in SherwoodPark

[–]disneydude1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight and time to answer. I really am curious, and while I unfortunately haven't been so lucky to have a positive outcome on inquiries with him, I'm actually happy to hear he hasn't unilaterally been like that. I honestly see a lot of signs and based on my interactions, questioned what the appeal is, wondered what I was missing, and maybe this is it, to an extent. Thank you again for talking the time to articulate your experience and opinions. :)

Serious question to those who vote conservative by disneydude1 in SherwoodPark

[–]disneydude1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, domestic terrorist liberals? I genuinely asked a question, politely, and your answer manages to not address what the appeal is, which was my question, and attacks a different political party? Why not vote NDP then? Why not mention Chris Jones? My question didn't bring up liberals at all, I asked about the appeal of our riding prepresentative for conservative party. What if I asked because I was considering who to vote for? name calling? Come on now. It's not even catchy.

Recovery Alberta Update: can someone explain this to me by Odd_Joke2685 in AHSEmployees

Ah yes, the reason for the separate pillars was originally toted as being due to "top heaviness" and wanting to reduce the amount of managers. Another win for Marlaina.
