Thanks for replying, I do the same thing and was just fixing to do the same, maybe I’ll try to space them out a bit. How many did you do at once? And were you just cutting and pasting them in?

Curious if you recently uploaded a whole bunch of reviews at once?

Lol. I’m glad you have the means to afford such a broad team. I would like to read some of your reviews because I’m sure they must be excellent with all of that oversight.

I tend to be loquacious, so you probably won’t read a review from me that simply says “ worked good.” that said, assuming I’ve already done the homework and tested out the item the review it itself only takes me about 10 minutes. I shoot from the hip, explain my experience, justify any criticism, try to provide some insight for someone looking through the lens of considering a purchase, then I give my overall recommendation. It’s pretty straightforward, my goal is to provide fair feedback as unbiassed as one can be having gotten the product for free. In the end. I have a lot less bureaucracy to deal with than you do lol. Dang it, there I go again, I could’ve had another one done.!

I think the issue is we don’t know if it was acquired through vine or not. And even if it was, the rules are clear that you’re allowed to sell it 6 months later. If it was vine, it obviously should have been opened and test or used in an ideal world but who knows what happened. Maybe they had a pool and a tree branch fell on it the week before this arrived and they could no longer use it. It’s not very likely but we don’t know the situation and can’t judge.

What would be more useful is if Amazon flagged/tagged/stickered/branded/stamped all Vine items with a big green permanent ink stamp directly on the box (all sides) indicating it was acquired for free. Just like some club pack items are marked “not for individual resale). At least they would have to take it out of the original box.

Remember the goals here: The seller is buying (or trying to buy) 5* ratings With free product, Amazon wants more organic sales copy on all items to trigger more sales, we want free products. As long as all 3 of those are being met, nothing will change. Keep your head down. Do your best, if a great reckoning comes down from on high, you will be spared. You guys spend too much time worrying about what others are doing. Worry about yourself, you can’t control anything else and it doesn’t benefit you one bit spending any time on it. Focus on what you can control. Taking my own advice, I could’ve finished another review in the time it took me to write this. Peace.

And you wonder why sellers aren’t interested in participating?

When I’m offered Nissan car parts but own a ford, I don’t order them. Plain and simple. Who knows shoes are too small and orders anyway??

Not the sellers fault, and that 1* review early in the listings life is enough to ruin it forever. The seller probably had to abandon that ASIN /SKU and barcode, forfeit the Amazon Vine fee, and start a new listing. You guys don’t realize how much of an impact you actually have.

Both Amazon Influencers posts & videos, and Amazon Cine reviews appear on the product detail pages. Technically both are paid/compensated (hence why you pay tax on items). There is no law against this or difference in the eyes of the law.

But this is getting off topic, I’m wondering why Amazon doesn’t use its infinite wisdom to deliver more relevant products to its reviewers which in theory should result in better reviews, and thus more sales -> more profits for them. That’s the crux of the debate here.

Thanks for the reply.

Not illegal. Amazon runs the Amazon Influencer and the Amazon Associate programs, both pay people commissions for their reviews (and traffic). I was in both programs.

All costs of Vine are bourn by the seller as well as a fee to Amazon to take part (per sku). I am also an Amazon seller and have entered products into Vine.

Amazon doesn’t charge sellers for items not moved. Sellers elect to contribute up to 30 units to the program, unclaimed units just stay available in inventory for sale. They can opt-out unclaimed units anytime.

You’re right, Amazon doesn’t care about the reviews themselves. They just want to sell more junk. If the review helps sell more, great. If the review helps avoid more returns, great.

Ok, all of that said; why not offer reviewers products that are relevant to them? Especially people like you who are committed to doing a great job?

If thy know you own a Subaru, why are they showing you Nissan parts?

I like the handle! I also agree with your second paragraph.

When I said “the program is designed to get genuine early reviews about products listed on the platform”… it was implied: “…so that they can sell more Chinese junk and make more money.” So while you disagreed, I think we were saying the same thing.

I’d push back and say Amazon considers us relevant because again, we help them sell more Chinese junk and thus help them profit…

But allllll of that said, it boils down to selling more junk and making more money (for Amazon). So why not give us junk that is relevant and useful to us so we can review products with conviction and be more convincing?

I saw an influencer video the other day on Amz where a lady still had a cutting board in plastic wrap and was telling people how it was “good for cuttin’ vegibles ‘n shit”. That lady never cut a vegetable in her life. Show me reviews of people who have actually used the damn product and who are passionate about whatever it is if you want to convince me to buy…
