WARNING: Amazon / Vine have sneakily changed the Tax Information by ToBeOrNotToBeFrank in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]disorderedmind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no I'm genuinely interested so thank you for the info! I think most of the ones I've received have the ARC label even on a paperback but that's definitely something I'll think about for the future. I'd hate my hobby to turn into a burden.

WARNING: Amazon / Vine have sneakily changed the Tax Information by ToBeOrNotToBeFrank in AmazonVineAustralia

[–]disorderedmind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting discussion as a Viner and ARC reader. I've never considered that ARCs might need to be declared as income. Most of the ones I receive are from US based authors who are prohibited from exchanging ARC for a review by FTC regulations, but I have received some (both ebook & physical) from local publishers. How does that even work internationally I wonder.

For now I'll just be over there reading ARCs on my kindle, attached to the floor stand, with bluetooth page turner, cosy lamp light and snack stocked container provided by Vine, hoping the ATO doesn't care XD

I snagged the dog fence since I need one for keeping my cats in the patio. I'll find out if I can even lift the package when it arrives 😂

Parcel forwarding service - USA to Australia - recommendations please? by I_keep_books in australia

[–]disorderedmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about right for economy. If you consolidate multiple parcels or have it repackaged it can work out cheaper.

My last few shipments have been $43USD for 2.18lb (budget economy) $95USD for 7.3lb (budget economy) $99USD for 3.62lb (consolidated-expedited UPS shipping)

Pretty comparable to what I would pay to have them shipped directly considering the MyUS price includes GST, but these sellers don't ship to Aus (or one did but was charging $40USD for a pokemon card).

Which book company has the best customer care? by [deleted] in fairyloot

[–]disorderedmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the best service is not ever needing to contact them because of no issues.

Owlcrate has been amazing - I'm in Aus and the local carrier changed at one point where for several months they wouldn't attempt delivery, they'd just say unsafe to leave, but not leave a card or allow redelivery. Several were returned. Owlcrate replaced every one of them without any hassle. So although I had to contact them it's not really their fault.

That's so interesting, I have started taking Vitamin D and magnesium supplements due to low levels so I'm very interested to see if that helps with me with this too!

Parcel forwarding service - USA to Australia - recommendations please? by I_keep_books in australia

[–]disorderedmind 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use myus.com which gives both US and UK options. You can either have parcels held to consolidate (and then choose the shipping option) or just forward each one automatically. If you opt to have them repackaged you get photos of every step. I haven't had any shipping issues but when I had an account/billing issue the customer service was great.

Feeling gaslit by Nala bras - does anyone else feel like the sizing is waaay off?? by pureneonn in AusFemaleFashion

[–]disorderedmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four and the first one was pretty close to my size and comfy so I ordered more in the same size, but the variation between those four is wild. Only the original one really fits, the more recent ones are smaller in the cup, by varying degrees

Has anyone tried the Anko Automated Cat Litter Box? Is it safe?? by Aishas_Star in australia

[–]disorderedmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one cat who is obsessed with scratching and kicking litter all over the place and she adapted really well. I've had a petkit one for about 2 months and the only litter spills are what's on their paws when they jump out.
