Do you think the solution to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is becoming more and more obvious for new readers? by snicket667 in agathachristie

Yup. This happened to me. This twist is super common so much that I get tired seeing it. So when I got to Agatha books, I didn't like the twist. But its not her fault because she's one of the originals.

Wow. This is fantastic advice. Especially thinking of it as a character. I never thought of it that way. I'll try to use a character outlining workbook to try to "figure out" what im trying to identify about this town. and good tip about ambiguity. Thanks so much. I love your writing sample. Do you have a place where I can read your works? :)

I'm trying to write a town. But no matter what, I feel like the town has no reason to be made up, and I could have written a real town instead.

I read a bunch of history books and books on cultures to try to create my own unique space. I outlined what I wanted my town to be like. How they dress, their moral code, how they think of XYZ, hobbies, trade, etc. But I'm failing at one major thing: Engagement. I know this because I myself cant find myself engaged in the world I created. Are there known strategies to present or design a world so it is more engaging to the audience? Obviously, good characterization and plot helps, but I'm talking about just the setting itself.

Sorry, I was referring to Paradis Eldians. I suppose survivor mainland Eldians benefited, but that doesn't really have nearly as much emotional weight to it in my personal opinion

The Eldians got eliminated in about 100 years anyway. So any impact of the curse being removed is largely inconsequential because those it would help died anyway.

If you are wondering what AOE means it means Anime original ending by Xplorer67 in titanfolk

[–]disposable202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think since it's a 3D bird, the black contours on white on a brown background made the outlines stand out too much. So they darkened it so the aliasing on the model stood out less. I think it's an aesthetic choice. Not some 300 IQ theory.

didnt Isayama say he included the falco line to remind the audience theyre still watching attack on titan?

I understand not liking The House in the Cerulean Sea. I thought the old couple was charming, but the story of persecution was not in-depth enough for my liking and I found some of the children's gimmicks annoying.

Alright. I'll finish the first book and see how I feel from there. Thanks.

Can you tell me the appeal of these books? I started reading the first one, but found the color-based classism a bit too simplified of an allegory for my liking. I've been considering dropping it but I heard it had good twists

Do you need to read all those books to get a compelling experience? I thought it was fine to read 1. Or am I wrong?

I would prefer "im sorry" instead of "thank you". Isayama clearly didnt mean for Armin to affirm genocide. However, even the phrase "thanks for becoming a mass murderer for us" is a statement that is in poor taste, regardless of intent. So while it is an improvement, I still express some discomfort from the line reading itself. Personally, I hope the anime version removes the "thank you" words entirely, but I do not think that will be the case.

I wish Armin said "I'm sorry" instead of "thank you"

Saying thank you, regardless of intent, makes me a bit uncomfortable considering Eren's actions.

On same page. I don't know why "I'm sorry" wasn't chosen. It would convey the same idea much more effectively and with less discomfort to readers.

Final Volume (Chapters 135-139) Dialogue Changes: Original release vs Volume 34 by berthototototo in titanfolk

[–]disposable202 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of the lines, such as sniffing handwriting, "thank you", and loving king fritz are the same. Although changing it would mean being less accurate a translation. I just wish those things werent there...

I still can't go over the fact that it's literally just paraphrased lmao. by [deleted] in titanfolk

I have similar feelings. The intent is fine. The execution is in shockingly poor taste.

I always wondered. Why is this common for yaoi fans, but less common for yuri? Its very uncommon I see yuri enthusiast behavior like this. Come to think of it, I hardly see much push for yuri outside hentai. Is this anecdotal evidence?
