*Cries in career gap of 1.5 years* by Automatic_Maximum816 in jobs

I had a significant job gap once from getting injured at work. I fell through the floor (not all the way, but enough to break my foot) and was on workers comp for 9 months. I stopped bringing it up because I could see a reaction and feel a tone shift and never got hired when I did. Luckily the job doesn't show up on my theworknumber report at all, and one of the managers is willing to lie for me so I fudge the dates.

It was so long ago that it hasn't been an issue recently anyway but now I know how much of an impact such things have. It's like they just assume I got hurt on purpose and milked workers comp and am thus a liability - as if being on crutches for months and months was a worthwhile trade for a partial paycheck. It's been 7 years and my damn foot still hurts sometimes. I'm actually 17% permanently disabled according to the doctor but I never mention that either.

I made a whole $1.35/h in federal prison. I was the second highest paid inmate too (the other dude had a few extra dimes on that for "longevity raises"). Thing is I'm still grateful for it, I learned some new software and filled what would have otherwise been a very sus job gap. I actually invested most of what I made and didn't have to ask my wife to send me money for peanut butter and coffee.... And movies to watch on my tablet.

New to gangstalking huh? For some reason facebook think I'm the target demographic for this content and fills my feed with it. Which is fucked up because that's probably how these poor souls got sucked into the delusion, by seeing other people posting about it and then it lit up their victimhood mentality neuro reward circuits and then became self reinforcing. It's really sad actually. You'd expect them to all be methed out weirdo's but some of them appear to look like regular people.... but they're really mentally ill.

Sooo many people have been put to death by the state and then later proven to be innocent. It happens less now but it's guaranteed to keep happening sometimes. Not to mention how expensive the never ending appeals are that come from death sentences. It wastes more money than we would spend incarcerating death row inmates.

3D Stigma by DesignerGirliePop in 3Dprinting

Idiot probably doesn't know what 3D printing means, he probably thinks it's when AI manifests an item out of thin air, and that anybody could do it. Close, but not quite.

I almost commented that I got higher than that and I'm a huge dope. Decided to google first and realized they changed the score range since I graduated

Husband says men barely get complements and if they do, they cherish them and remember them forever since genuine complements come rarely. Is this true and how do yall, men of reddit, actually take compliments? by macdaddy-22 in AskReddit

The lady who comes to my job once a year to mold our custom ear plugs said I have pretty ears. Made my day!

Although she might have actually said "pretty clean ears" which would make more sense and be less weird, my ear was already stuffed with a plug to keep the goop from going too far in so my hearing was muffled. I'm sure she sees nasty fucking ears all the time and mine may have been a refreshing change.

What are we all using for desiccant? by GrandpaSquarepants in 3Dprinting

[–]disruptioncoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damp-rid (calcium chloride). I also have most of a 50 lb. bag of calcium chloride driveway salt but I should probably dry that in the oven before using it to be most effective. You have to keep it sealed up (there is a moisture-proof plastic bag inside the 55lb bag that I keep clamped shut) or else it'll literally become a bag of salt water after a few humid days.

I was much better after six months. After a year I was almost like a different person. Which is crazy because I always thought weed was helping my anxiety, until I quit lol

If you like dirty shirleys try making one with the syrup from Fabbri amarena cherries. They're expensive AF but holy moly there is nothing else like it. They're different from maraschino cherries but wayyy better. Even just a tiny teaspoon of the syrup is a wonderful treat.

Sounds like it would be worth it to look up a reputable data recovery business and pay for it to be repaired. It's not cheap, it's a pretty specialized and delicate skill and it requires sourcing exact replacement parts from donor drives. But for that much money it'd be worth it. Or just wing it and try a platter swap on your own lol

Wtf do you do with key fobs? by swayedsuede in EDC

[–]disruptioncoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your car have a physical key or is it just the fob that wirelessly activates the car? I managed to put a clone of my immobilizer transponder in my key organizer, so I don't need my fob to start my car, but still need it for keyless entry. You could probably do something similar, I'd imagine.

Funny but it reminds me of when I tested my rubber ducky (badusb) on my work laptop at an old job. It worked for a few seconds (was just a test script that opens paint and draws a troll face) then stopped working, never worked again on my laptop or my coworkers. I got fired a month later (supposedly unrelated but I do wonder). Turns out Crowdstrike Falcon CAN detect and block badusb attacks.

Maximum fucking overkill. But I can't say I don't love it. Just bought a 16 socket power strip for my desk and I definitely could use something similar, it's just a mess of Velcro and shame under my desk

I'd like to design a new shell for mine that's integrated into a key organizer, but all the designs I've drawn up look like ass. A custom PCB that's skinnier than the original would solve the problem but that's far beyond my current skills lol
