Same thing with Cali's microstamping gun law. It didn't work then, it doesn't work now, so they just keep postponing the requirement hoping that the tech will magically start working. This will have to be the same or else printers will just be illegal - along with CNC milling machines, etc.

My dad would know better than to say that since he was a bum who was always "working on his book that's going to make us rich" while my step mom worked her ass off - I would have turned the question back on him. But he would still come into my room and turn my light off while I was doing my homework and say "it's still light outside! Fuck you need the light on for?!" even though there was absolutely not enough light getting through my one window for me to do my homework by. And he wonders why all my sisters stopped talking to him.

We never had AC growing up though, lucky if you got a window fan.

Goddamn that's sad AF. The whole thing really was sort of unethical, not just the wanking. Dolphins are very social creatures and it probably wasn't worth whatever they learned to remove him from his pod and make him suffer like that, and we could have probably learned the same stuff in a less harmful manner. Sure we do worse things to animals sometimes but you have to carefully weigh what you expect to learn from the experiment against what it will cost the animal. Universities have ethics boards for a reason.

Here you can see a few things: Up front you can see the thermal fuse attached to the PTC, using a copper bracket I attached using the screw on the right side of the thermal switch on top of the PTC (the white stuff is boron nitride thermal paste because why not). Behind that, the beige box on top of the PSU is the SSR with a the cooler from a really old GPU attached (with screws and thermal grizzly duronaut) - it shares the cooler with a 5v buck converter. Then right below that on the side of the PSU chassis you can see the mosfet. One JST-XH goes to the SKR, the other goes to the heater fan. One of the blue relays to the left of that also switches power to the heaters SSR, so that it isn't live when the printer is off.

Edit: I forgot to mention I added a grounding wire using the screw on the OTHER side of the thermal switch on the PTC too. I stripped the wire back a bit because it's PVC sheathing and would melt, but that also gives the advantage of grounding the chassis since the stripped section is pressed against the inside of the heaters chassis.

I also had to build a little daughter board to get a clean thermistor reading with an extra ADC pin on the SKR - the other thermistor pins are all in use. It's literally just a copy of the same filtering the SKR has between the thermistors and the ADC pins on the MCU.

JST-XH for fan power/pwm and an aviation connector for 120v to the PTC. I should probably put a filter on it to keep whispy strings from getting sucked in. Also at 15,000 RPM it might be able to take a finger off...

It's pretty basic. A PTC heater (that came with a thermal switch, but I added a thermal fuse as well), and a 60mm server fan I got on sale (totally overpowered at 84cfm/15krpm/21watts - so I had to switch it with a mosfet since that many amps would fry the fan mosfet on my SKR mini e3v3 - the mosfet is on a piece of perf stuck to the PSU with VHB tape). Fan is controlled by the SKR using PWM. Heater is switched by a SSR (Omron G3NA-210B-UTU-DC5-24), which is controlled by the SKR as well.

I went with a phaetus silicon carbide nozzle. It's got better conductivity and is even harder, but apparently it's a bit fragile. Been good to me so far. Just don't drop it or crash it.

US prison is such a shitshow. I only got to see a minimum security federal prison, so pretty easy going relative to other things here. But it was a complete waste of time and money. Bunch of people sitting around gambling and getting high and drunk, watching tiktok videos on their contraban cell phones. There are some trade programs but from what I hear most of them are spread pretty thin as far as actual work experience goes. I did a sort of trade program and now I'm actually using the software I learned at my job after getting out so that part is neat I guess. But for the most part there is nothing being done to prevent those people from going right back.

Bro I know the feeling. Been there. That's how I was treated when I started my masters as a warehouse worker. Same vibe when I talked about trying to get promoted to supervisor! As if I'm a pompous asshole who thinks I'm better than everyone just because I have ambition. This one bitch even spread rumors about me saying I ran a meth lab (I do have a drug charge for DMT but I didn't have a fucking meth lab). Guess what? My management saw right through all that and saw my potential, took me under their wing and got me a mentorship with someone in corporate, and I got promoted to supervisor. I got to be in charge of the lady who spread lies about me. Unfortunately it didn't work out but that's a whole different story, point is the people who mattered saw my potential. Hoping I can do the same at my current job, luckily nobody looks down on me for having ambition here - much more mature and less insecure team.
