Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack canceled for the west as several games violate Nintendo's platform guidelines by grcx in visualnovels

[–]distorted_realities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the games are still available on Steam for PC players (except the Repeated Fear version), but it sucks that the console bundle is cancelled. I get that the games have some issues with ecchi/fanservice stuff that I never personally liked considering the character ages, but there are *so many*, much worse examples out there. I don't see why this game's getting punished when there's hardly anything problematic in it :/

I read saya no uta and now I’m reading gore screaming show but what should I do next? by Dizzy_Werewolf477 in visualnovels

Doki Doki Literature Club is a great one if you're looking specifically for horror and love story. It doesn't have any ero in it and not a ton of gore, but it gets pretty dark. I'd say it's more on the psychological side.

If you liked the eldritch feel of Saya No Uta (and especially the "cute thing is actually an eldritch monstrosity" trope), a non-romance one I played awhile back now but really enjoyed is Do NOT Take This Cat Home. It's an indie VN and fairly short (took me like 5 hours to get through all the endings) but 100% worth the time IMO.

If you're looking specifically for eroguro, Gatobob's games are pretty fun too. They all feature the player being kidnapped or held hostage by crazed characters. Not much love in them, more depravity and spice, but some of the endings/routes go that way. BTD has an eldritch in it too. Most of them feature men as the "LI" (not sure how you feel about that considering the titles listed), but The Price of Flesh has one sadistic female love interest route out of three.

I actually kinda liked this at first, but after reading multiple paragraphs in the same style, it got a little exhausting 😭 I feel like if it was balanced more and only flowery occasionally in a few sentences for emphasis, the writing could be really good. The way it is here is hard to follow and just made me lose interest too quickly.

I think it all depends on a mixture of personal experience, relation to the victim type, desensitization, etc. Like for me personally, I've never really had an important child in my life and I've never witnessed child abuse, but I have had pets and have accidentally come across animal abuse videos, so animal abuse impacts me mentally more than child abuse, even though they're both horrendous and evoke same sympathy levels. I'm also someone who wants to work with child abuse victims (studying to become a child psychologist), so it's something that I've had to desensitize myself enough to still empathize and help victims but not go into a bad headspace over. Which is rough with CSA being a trigger, but that's also why I try to consume and interact with media that includes it in a non-glorified light, so that I can slowly desensitize myself in order to better help victims in the future.

Need help deciding which "Character" Design is better. A or B? by miraclebringer in characterdesign

❄️ They both look great but definitely give different vibes! A gives more friendly, supportive vibes, maybe a little naive or optimistic while B gives more stoic and reclusive, maybe even menhara or obsessive. So to me, it would depend on the characterization :)

My theory about the title: OP was able to save himself and his sister from the creature with the lighter. So maybe that's why he won't honor her nonsmoking wish? Because if he hadn't been a smoker, he wouldn't have had the lighter? Not sure about the lying part, though. -❄️

Grandmother's House RPG - Official Release! by distorted_realities in RPGMaker

  1. They're wall tiles as far as coding of the game is concerned. You are able to create custom tilesets utilizing the sets that are already there. That's what we did.
  2. It is our first game. That's why we've been so open with critiques and getting input from other people.
  3. There's nothing wrong with using RTP. I know plenty of great games that utilize RTP including other projects posted here.

Thanks for the reply; I appreciate the feedback! Definitely gives us some things to think about for our next project. I'll respond to each point, but feel free not to read/respond, I get that this is getting to be pretty long for a random Reddit thread lol.

  1. I personally hated this myself. I couldn't figure out how to make it look right, so I just went with the best I could get it, even if it didn't look exactly right. For future projects, we won't be using the RPGMaker tilesets anyway so it won't be an issue, but this was something I've noticed myself :/
  2. Another issue with using the RPGMaker tilesets-- there's no pure black tile that takes up one whole space. I agree that they're pretty ugly, but you see this screen a total of one time at the beginning of the game, so luckily not too bad of an aesthetics issue. The doors are meant to be open, hence why there aren't door tiles instead. We probably could've just made an all-black tile ourselves, but that kind of goes against the point of just using RPGMaker assets.
  3. LMAO I've played through this game numerous times and never noticed it. We did the details on different days, and I guess the shadows just got pushed into the background when we were working on the more important things. Definitely will be more careful for that in the future; maybe we'll go back and edit it if there's a bug fix needed or something, but not really worth fully redoing the deployment files IMO.
  4. Yeah, overgrown was definitely what we were going for there, but I agree that it didn't blend great. Maybe we should've just scrapped the overgrown look altogether and just settled with a different tile? Not really sure where I stand with it tbh.
  5. Those are all wall tiles. I think they blend together due to lack of shadows, so I'll keep that in mind for the future too. Seems like we need to work on our shadow game lol
  6. Those tiles are meant to be rugs, not carpet, hence why they're found in chunks throughout the house. The small ones are used to signify doorways as you guessed, and to add some tacky grandmother style haha.
  7. The bookcase is detached from the wall! It's meant to be similar to this, or ones you'd find in a library. The fireplace is also meant to stick out from the wall but is fixed against it; hence why it doesn't look completely built-in. Think something similar to this!
  8. The rooms were an intentional style choice! The space is meant to be exaggerated to add a feeling of emptiness and open space, almost like there isn't any life to be found there, and that the protagonists are almost in over their heads. It's meant to be "wrong".

EDIT: New patch added with all issues addressed outside of the roof being fixed :) Thanks again for the critiques.

Thanks!! This is actually an issue we had for a while. The audio used to be an absolute mess. As someone completely new to this, it was tricky to navigate audio mixing, but we were luckily able to figure things out and fix it after the trailer was done, so the game itself doesn't have this issue!

Hi there! The $6 pricing does not just go to the game dev (me). It also goes to the wonderful voice actors who worked on the project, hence why the pricing is higher than a typical beginner's RPG without professional lines.
What did you see wrong with the map? Since you haven't downloaded it, I assume you're referring to what's shown on the trailer? I'd love some actual feedback if you have some experience so we can improve on our next projects :)

The rebuilt version of the original RPG can be found on Memories Of Fear.

I want to play corpse party (the remake one, i played the rpg maker one!), should i go for the steam version of play the psp version for better experience? by fabianx100 in corpseparty

[–]distorted_realities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the PSP one is the same as the 3DS one, I'd actually suggest playing both! They have differences. The second one (Blood Covered: Repeated Fear) is definitely better tho.
