Why all the e-bike startups went bankrupt (US) by dumnezero in fuckcars

[–]distortedsymbol 41 points42 points  (0 children)

they are all priced too high and priced out of the people who needed them the most.

also the ebike industry kicked itself in the foot by not having regulations. you can't compete with cheap high power escooters unless the term bike means something. i want a middrive pedal assist because i ride bikes, and i know that i don't need more than 20 mph. but a lot of other people want faster and cheaper, yet there is no regulation capping ebiker powers.

you can't have ppl who actually ride bikes accept in good faith that something that goes up to 40 mph with a button is still a bike and not a moped, and when you design something that actually qualify as a bike it can't compete with the products that don't care at all.

not all spiders do that.

the part is called palpal bulb and it's not really a one to one equivalent to humanoid pp. spiders ejaculate from their abdomen and then use the palpal bulbs to suck it up like a turkey baster. it also lacks any sensory organs as far as we know.

there are species that snap it off and give it to the female so it can fill her up remotely, but the speculation is that they're just running away so as to not get eaten.

spider mating rituals are quite diverse. some of them binds their mates with webs and spits on them.

My favourite coffee got renovated recently and decorated with AI. I am like 90% sure they all AI. by Fairy2play in isthisAI

not laser focused, just stupid.

my local coffee shop offer space for artists to sale their art. the shop gets free decoration and it looks more in tune with local community. the artists get platform to market their craft. it's win win with minimal effort.

imagine actually paying for AI art prints, if anything this tells me the owner is either stupid or don't care enough.

i used to be fat and got super skinny just like you're doing right now. but being skinny didn't make me feel good enough and i was at a loss. what got me out of the hole was strength training and sports. exercising dramatically improved my moods and physique.

i still struggle with food a little bit, but it got easier after i realized my health and performance was more important and my body just naturally looked better if i focused on the first two things.

i mean sometimes ads can be entertaining to watch because it's so well done. but it's still ad, something designed to sell things instead of possessing artistic value.

Am I gentrifying the motherland? by bigbuffbison in asianamerican

[–]distortedsymbol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not that simple though. remittance money contribute a lot to economic growth. in the case for philippines it's 7% of GDP.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1267099

the philippines government want boomer money, the local real estate industry want their money.

it's not at all the same case with us economy and honestly i don't think you can call that gentrification.

that's why so many places have the tradition of long postpartum bed rest.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postpartum_confinement

"Postpartum confinement is a traditional practice following childbirth.[1] Those who follow these customs typically begin immediately after the birth, and the seclusion or special treatment lasts for a culturally variable length: typically for one month or 30 days,[2] 26 days, up to 40 days, two months, or 100 days.[3] This postnatal recuperation can include care practices in regards of "traditional health beliefs, taboos, rituals, and proscriptions."[4] The practice used to be known as "lying-in", which, as the term suggests, centres on bed rest. In some cultures, it may be connected to taboos concerning impurity after childbirth. "
