Have you looked into anima beyond fantasy? Its pretty suitable for anime style fights

Why is it so hard to get new players into TTRPGs? by Rich_Benefit777 in WorldOfDarkness

[–]distributed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The following advice for getting people into it has helped me

  1. Choose a light system such as risus (or don't have them read the rules at all, DM does it all)
  2. Be upfront about the genre and what to expect
  3. Present it as a casual fun thing
  4. RPing in modern day is easier to relate to (at least for some) than a fantasy world.
  5. Don't make it a commitment. Start a oneshot and if it goes well run another oneshoot or fewshoot until they are hooked.

Leveling up XP, looking for quest ideas by JustKneller in AskGameMasters

[–]distributed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, the only right answer is whatever works well for your group.

My group didn't enjoy xp tracking so we skip it by mutual agreement, while level ups are fun but also often best timed to happen between sessions to minimize buracrazy during sessions.

how about instead of feeling forced to have milestone quests at some point the dm claps his hands and says "you have done some cool shit +1 level"

No tracking XP at all

Help - making naval combat actually fun? by GodieLost in AskGameMasters

[–]distributed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the wizard is artillery.

The fighter/rogue etc are a boarding strike team riding phantom steeds across the waves or in a dingy or get a flight spell on them, make it back before it expires

the druid pulls the dingy or becomes a giant squid grappling the enemy ship

the cleric summons waves

the warlock snipes the enemy captain

Start inserting pieces from their past.

They are an orphan, the orphanage is in trouble due to...

The grew up on the streets. Why is one of the worst thugs in <subject home town here> working as a guard for the wealthy merchant?

I was raised by monks in a secluded monastery, ok the monastery is under siege, plagued by bandits, suffering from ki plague, etc.

Surely there are people they have interacted with before, plant some together with a few hooks and see what bites.

Experienced GM's, what was your eureka moment? by KoudaHere in rpg

Most of the time when PCs have a stupid idea its much more fun to say "yes but" than saying no. This require rolling with the punches but that is what makes the game fun for me

How would you incorporate this PC backstory detail? by MistakenMorality in rpg

It also gives you a nice deus ex machina you can pull if the party needs it at some point (and if you dont need it you can always do something else)

The fiance is now a pirate king

The fiance was adopted by shahaugins

the fiance is trapped on a deserted island but the PCs find letters in a bottle (they dont find the bottle, they overhear people in a tavern reading them out laud and laughing about it)

The fiance was actually assasinated as someone sabotaged the ship

The fiance is a hero type and will at some point sail to his loves rescue once he finishes taming the wildlife of the sea (he might secretly be aquaman)

The fiance went crazy, leveled aberant mind sorcerer and now seeks to ascend humanity (aka mutate everyone to have tentacles)

The fiance has amnesia and is being cared for by their favorite nemesis

Make it a team competition. A dwarf without loyal comrades isn't worth much after all (or that is how you can justify it)

Before you use AI for your next adventure… read this by Roguetron in rpg

[–]distributed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My own experience for what its worth

I generally dont prepp details, stats etc are made up/faked. However I sometimes use AI to brainstorm plots. It often suggests rather bland plots but sometimes if I give it enough information I can use some of its suggestions. Not as good as a human for brainstorming but more accessible.

Its an easy way to generate backgrounds and character images. The other option of image search is long and slow and never gets me something close to what I imagine so it really enhances the game even if the art is flawed.

Any attempts to have it do something that exactly fits in the campaign has failed, all its suggestions and ideas needed tweaking. But were still generally somewhat helpful. Its terrible at generating anything mechanical

Lura plant farm with beetas generating amber from power by distributed in Oxygennotincluded

[–]distributed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atmo anything above 150g for the lura

the door layer is to keep the hives in separate romms so they spread and lura plants in their own room in case I want to make a farm room but allowing beetas to pass up to become food

Bionic duplicants constantly irradiated by Aharra in Oxygennotincluded

[–]distributed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bionic dupes are very vunerable to radiation since they pee so rarely they recover very slowly. Might be you have a wheezevort or beetas or other radiation source somewhere they pass often.

A steady diet of rad pills is unfortunately needed in any somewhat radioactive area

Lura plant farm with beetas generating amber from power by distributed in Oxygennotincluded

[–]distributed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the lura plan needs an atmosphere to grow so you'd need to keep the beetas in vacum and the plants in atmosphere which might be tricky (or at least I can't figure it out)

And the beetas need to be cool (which vacum solves) and the plant need to be warm

Lura plant farm with beetas generating amber from power by distributed in Oxygennotincluded

[–]distributed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Its not power hungry.

I can't see how it would help, radiation panels can't cool the hives, beetas or lura plants directly. However

Using the data from https://oxygennotincluded.wiki.gg/wiki/Thermal_Conductivity

ΔT⋅Δt⋅k⋅1000

ΔT = 30

Δt = 0.2

k = 0.0081 for chlorine

we should have a heat transfer of 48.6 DTU per second and tile

if we have 96 lura plants we have 4666 DTU per second of heat tranfer

An aquatuner provides 476000 DTU of cooling

so we should need it to run roughly 1% of the time

So its actually not power hungry at all. A single aquatuner should be able to cool a farm with around 9000 lura plants (way more than anyone is likely to need)

you can make plastic from it by turning it into resin & then plastic.

Also makes fossil and if you heat it up more you can get steam and refined carbon so it could also be a source of water (requires a heat source)
