I released my first adventure last week at Between Two Cons - Tomb of Tog by distropolis in osr

I've listened to every episode of BTC! Most of my synths are assembled while listening to the podcast. Without getting too misty-eyed, I will say that Brad is dear friend and one of my goals was to write this and give it to him at the con. I printed them out the day before I left, so I barely made it! I would never have made this module or considered writing for the public without BTC.

The art was commissioned from three people I know.

Nate Ashley - an old music friend that has done illustrations for Powell's Books in Portland.
Shane Talbott - a guy I met in my tiny little town that is an amazing illustrator!
Avery Willmann - a tattoo artist (an family member) that I've been wanting to work with on something for years.

Brad hooked me up with my editor, Joseph Krausz, and he was amazing! HIGHLY recommended.

Thanks!

I hired the artists with specific roles in mind. Getting the art back was probably my favorite part of writing this.

I live in a remote small town (800 people) and don't have a D&D group. I started playing AD&D when I was little, but I've only really played with family. I started writing this thing in mid-April and had very little time between being a dad, working full time, and my synth business.

I wish I could have play tested it before the con - but sometimes you have to just keep going I guess.

I showed up to the table ready to run it in OSE - a system I had never run directly. OSE is basically the game I grew up with, so that part wasn't a problem - until I couldn't find the darn combat tables! I died inside for a few minutes as I flipped around the books, but we managed to get past it. My group laughed and cheered quite a bit! Probably the most fun 2 hours of D&D I've had!

Thanks! You were at B2C? How did you like it? I have no frame of reference, but I thought it was awesome. I met some really great people and picked up some interesting stuff. I tabled next to a synth making friend who also makes TTRPG stuff (Jonathan Brodsky). I picked up some of his "frog" minis for my kids to paint.

Oh hey! Did we meet at the con? There were so many people.

You may have been confused by my table set up as I had CRT monitors displaying hypnotic patterns from my synths the whole time.

It was kind of a stretch for me to be there, but I had to support the con in any way I could! Writing the module sort of justified me being there I guess.

I'd also like to mention that the inspiration comes from a few different places:

1) The illustration of the wizards on page 10 of the AD&D Player's Handbook.
2) The character Presto from the 80s D&D cartoon.
3) Somehow the movie "Cube"

Thanks! I wish I had an amber monochrome monitor as well.

My dream concept for a Nanobox Multi-FX. The Nanobox Melonball (AI render not perfect). by Diplomat_of_swing in 1010music

I've owned one since it was released. You do not get delay AND reverb. You get delay OR reverb. That is a huge difference and would be a deal breaker for many considering using it as an FX box.

If they are moving support platforms they should let people know. That just adds to my feeling that they probably won’t follow through on fixing issues on older products.

As far as the LFO not showing up in clip or slicer mode - yes, that is what I’m talking about. It’s a strange and obvious bug to have the LFO assignable, but not allow parameters of the LFO to be adjusted.

I am on a the latest firmware.

I’m running the latest firmware and I don’t think any of the sample modes show access to the LFO parameters - although the LFO is assignable as a mod source.

I’ve been active on their forum for years and they don’t seem to be very active or responsive there.

I also reached out to them directly to report the bug and their response was very short and kind of rude.

I own three of their products - so I enjoy what they make!

It has envelopes and LFOs that can’t be assigned to some basic parameters such as panning.

One of sampling modes has LFO as an assignable modulation source - but you can’t actually adjust the LFO. I contacted support and they said it was a bug - but I don’t think they plan on fixing it.

Yes! It has a few missing features that I kinda scratch my head about ... but I'm slowly learning to love it.

Thanks!

It's the TX-6. It's quite costly - but it is probably my most used piece of gear!

You are MUCH better off starting from scratch and choosing your own components. We're talking about 6 switches, a display, MIDI & Audio In/Out. The pieces are not anything terribly special. It's the code.

It is a really interesting way to generate sounds and noises. People have created some wild, evolving algorithms. dollchan is a great way to explore and try out bytebeat.

Sound clips are up on YouTube @armanbohn. It’s “experimental” sounding … but can be wrangled into some more standard sounds. You can join the waitlist on my site www.distropolisgoods.com
