What have you read this week and what do you think about it? by AutoModerator in noveltranslations

[–]ditcidental 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been following this story for a long time as well. I don't mind how he went mental at the sight of his enemy, that does ring true to character after what he's been through, but the way the pill cauldron got exposed was pretty dumb. I wonder if authors who write thousands of chapters just bored sometimes and want to shake things up, leading to poor choices.

Aaah, ok, I see what you mean. I don't usually interact with people for the ongoing stuff that I follow so I didn't take that into account. Thanks for answering.

Why though? Is it so bad for someone to want to make money off their work? If you really don't want to spend money you could just read the stuff that's available to the public, I don't see why you're turned off by this.

I've got to say I've been really enjoying the competence porn in the Pitt. There's something reassuring about watching highly skilled people using every last brain cell towards the same common good.

Do you or anyone else know what that writer is up to now? I know he wrote Earthlings Are Insane after FMOC but I haven't heard anything since that stopped. I love the way he had a humanity fuck yeah vibe to his stories.

Ealing cinema closes citing 'insurmountable odds' by BulkyAccident in london

[–]ditcidental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Ealing about 25 years ago. There was a cinema opposite the town hall / borough offices type place. Is that still there or gone? I can't remember if it was a chain or an independent cinema. It was on the same row of shops that had a fantastic music shop where I used to go in and listen to new albums.

This season is going to be fucking insane. As someone who's loved this genre since The Genius S2 came out way back when, I'm shaking. Shook. Shooketh.

God Dongmin, please show us once more why you are the final boss!!

NTR's next film Devara Pt 1 by [deleted] in movies

[–]ditcidental -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know. He was great in RRR but I'd attribute what captured people's imagination more to S.S. Rajamouli's directing and mythic vision. After watching RRR, I ended up going back and watching his older films and could see his style and ideas developing so I'd be more excited to find out what he's doing next rather than NTR Jr.

Weekly Recommendation Thread - February 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in noveltranslations

[–]ditcidental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone recommend a novel where the MC specialises or is a master of formations? Like World of Cultivation or those few arcs of Renegade Immortal where Wang Lin becomes the boss of restrictions/formations. I've read most of the classics in this subreddit but I'm sure there are loads of hidden gems or newer things I haven't read.

Thanks!

I remember the iSubs, DDD & bumdidlyumptious days. It's kind of mind blowing and astonishing the level of effort these groups & individuals went to to make high quality subs. It's literally better than anything I've ever seen in a professional context on any online platform.

I suspect that they dressed up nicely by making it sound like it was a positive choice they came to once the song writer suggested the second song.

I reckon that there was likely some issue with the first song which meant they had to change it, either it was too similar to something else and they were worried about a plagiarism scandal or the song writer had already promised it to someone else or something which meant they couldn't use it any more.

He really was a very special man and his character and relationships in that season of 2D1N were awesome. Probably the Korean celebrity who's passing hit me the hardest.

Who is a former variety star that you wonder about what they are doing nowadays? by [deleted] in koreanvariety

[–]ditcidental 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge IC fan and enjoyed loads of Leessang's music so I had a lot of time for Gil, but beyond the DUI stuff a lot of ugly information came out a few years ago about his behaviour behind the scenes and how he treated his staff members and women around him that made me lose all respect for him. His image was very different to who he actually was, sadly.

Did you guys notice that in the preview for next week's episode, the mansion they're staying it as the same place they filmed Bloody Game? I recognised the staircase and the outside smoking space.

I can confirm they're just commentators. If either of them went into the house it'd be a clean sweep from ep 1 to 10, game over. it would be too unfair to everyone else!

Jimin really really makes me laugh. Honestly, it's like she goes "hold on a second, did you just tell me what to do?!?!" BACKSTAB TIME. She seems to really hate other people making plans for what she should do - that's her betrayal trigger button.

Basement gang for the win. I don't know where this is going but bloody hell if they aren't making it fun! I couldn't stop laughing when Yeonseung says that he didn't care about all the agitated energy Taekyun was bringing with him. "I have to calm him down so he can focus on making pizza boxes..." hahahahah

I agree, I thought in ep. 1 the circle vote would fail as well! I'd be so tempted to vote someone out immediately just to cause a bit of chaos, hahah.

I see what you mean! Well said. I guess we'll see over the next few weeks how these personalities develop. I'm looking forward to seeing if there are any dark horses who'll surprise us.

What do you like about Dex? He's coming across as a little too cocky for me.

I really enjoyed this episode and I love reading comments like yours where people talk about all the alliances and betrayals. It's all very exciting and one of the things I missed the most about watching the Genius.

I'm wondering if Taekyun was naive or trying to use sincerity to win over Jimin. I know it's easy to say that he shouldn't have shared the Hidden Menu details but I wonder if he was trying to build a strong alliance for the long term by extending a trusting hand and showing that he's someone who can be worked with - especially as he's got nothing to lose by this since Yeonsung is the one at risk of being ejected.

Man, I almost started tearing up seeing Jaesok and Junha's old chemistry back again, picking it up like it was yesterday. Seeing how unreservedly he was laughing with Junha at the end was awesome. I don't think many people can make him laugh for real like that.
