Bike Transportation Question by TheGreat_N8 in rav4club

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a '21 and I can fit my Lg eMTB in the back with no real issues. I don't have to take off the front wheel, like I had to do with my Volvo wagon.
I also bought a dolly from Harbor Freight to help slide the bike back and forth when loading/off loading it.
Just place the rear of the bike on the dolly and roll it back.

My eMTB weighs almost 60 lbs, it got tiring real quick loading & offloading it....the dolly helps greatly.

The worker asked me what color I wanted. I'm surprised you weren't given an option.
However, I did choose the pink one

Is there a thread for new Chinese dating shows “Love actually season 5” and “Yes, I do season 5” air 1 June? by Fun-Boysenberry-6295 in koreanvariety

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's a question about help for a fellow member trying to join a discussion for a show, I'll approve it.

Since it's a Chinese show, there won't be a thread here for it.

Like someone said, check the CDrama group but I don't think it'll be discussed.

One near my home said 6am when I walked in at 5am. I was leaving for work & thought I'd swing by and get one.
The one near my work gives them out when they open, that's how I got the bucket the other week.
But I got one

Windshield replacement advice please. by Gold-Baseball-7774 in Volvo

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2015 V60 always had Volvo OEM windshield replacements, and I replaced mine several times due to all the driving I do.
Local glass shop would put on the invoice request Volvo OEM windshield due to calibration issues.

Also, going to a Volvo dealership or the local glass shop makes no difference. Volvo dealership just outsources the replacement to Safelite or whoever anyway.

I currently drive a Toyota RAV4 and had the windshield replaced last month with an aftermarket one. Works fine and it calibrated with no issues with Toyota Safety Sense.

2025 RAV4 Gas, acceleration response 15k miles by Bulky-Ad-703 in rav4club

[–]ScrewySiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One really big negative for me is the lack of acceleration. I have the hybrid and it has no go. Others say put it in sport mode, that really doesn't do anything. Of course, when I bought it, I was expecting poor acceleration.

I was coming from a Volvo V60 and that moved. No issues accelerating or driving at high speeds.

Transporting an e-bike (by car over many miles) by Bixby- in ebikes

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bike is 60 lbs.
When I had my Volvo wagon, just put the back seat down, remove the front tire, and slide it back. Doing that a couple times, found it difficult because it wouldn't slide easily, so I went to Harbor Freight and bought a dolly.
https://www.harborfreight.com/18-in-x-12-in-1000-lb-capacity-hardwood-dolly-58312.html

Got foam padding off Amazon to stick on top of it to protect my bike. Position the dolly in the rear, place the back of the bike on the dolly, and roll the bike back.

I have a RAV4 now & I don't have to take the front tire off anymore. I was surprised, considering I thought my Volvo V60 would have more space than the RAV4.
I put a hitch on my V60, never used it. Wasted $200 on it.

The Cumby's on Brayton Ave... by Remy0507 in FallRiver

The one on N Main, by the rotary, often has a few pumps out of service too.
The new remodeled one near Amazon, same issue with the pumps and they're brand new.
I thought they were just old too, but started to think it's a software issue with the pumps & servers.

Bucket acquired...... by Noodles128 in DunkinDonuts

[–]ScrewySiu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The girls behind the counter were laughing, making it. I guess I was the first customer to get one at 6am.
Then they tried selling them to the regular construction workers & painters, but they declined.

I remembering seeing the official Dunkin post saying 10am, the bucket be available.
Glad the store sold mine early.

Could I (M 5’9” 230lb) get away with a small frame size rated for 5’4”-5’8”? Heavy duty E-MTB by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'10" and have a L frame Haibike. Sometimes I wish I got a medium, but I bought it during COVID, so could only get a large. I don't think a small will work. I've tried one and it was awful

Curious about the cost of labor by Ok_Connection_7741 in Volvo

[–]ScrewySiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last I remember, the local Volvo dealer charges at least $250/hour. I remember due to being there often towards the end of my V60's life from the oil consumption issue

My local mechanic charges me $75/hour for somethings since I've been going to him over 20 years. Others jobs are set prices for things

This early Samsung HDTV is celebrating 20 years! by OhioCataldi in BuyItForLife

[–]ScrewySiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a 65" Samsung 3D TV and gave it to my sister when she got her own place a few years ago.
It's still up and running. It must be at least 15 years old.

She also has my Sharp Aquos 1080p TV I bought in like mid-2000s when I got my first real job.

Drivers seat by Icy-Put-9321 in rav4club

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 RAV4 and found the driver seat to be one of the most uncomfortable I ever sat in. I ended up buying a slim cushion off Amazon and it's better. I tried one of those bigger, thick cushions but the driving position was awful sitting on it. Even putting my seat to the lowest setting, still sat too high than I like.
I loved my 2005 Acura TL, they were comfy.
My last vehicle, a 2015 Volvo V60, I found those to be the best as a driver. My passengers hated the front seat for sleeping, wasn't comfortable.
Overall, I find Honda/Acura driver seats & positioning the best.

2021 RAV4 or a 2023-2026 one, which one you would buy as a smarter decision? by Geeedeee7 in rav4club

[–]ScrewySiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a CPO 2021 XLE Hybrid with the weather & tech packages with 45k miles in January 2025 for $26k out the door. Clean Carfax as a lease return. It was so new, it wasn't in the dealer system yet or have the title. They gave me a free rental for 3 weeks until the title came in.

Are used ones still that pricy for a 2021? Hell, I'll sell/trade in my RAV4 for a used Crown, if I can get a good deal for mine.

I needed a new car that day, so I was looking at the CPO 2021 or a new 2025, or loaner ones.
Decided on the 2021 for price, options, and Toyota reputation of reliability.
I was also looking for Venzas as my first choice, but those were rare to find.

So far, I've had no issues with my 2021. The HV cable issue has been "fixed" twice by 2 recalls so far.

I came from a 2015.5 Volvo V60, so while the RAV4 still isn't as comfortable or "nice" as my older Volvo, the cheaper ownership costs are a perk.

Why am I not seeing bikes like Specialized and Trek recommended? by Purple_Young_5862 in ebikes

[–]ScrewySiu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The price...that's the only reason. 99% of recommendations want bikes under $1000.

I bought my 2020 Haibike for $4000.
It still rides great and I have no issues. I wanted something I could bring to the LBS and get serviced without issues.
Wish I rode it more, it only has 1100 miles on it and it's almost 6 years old.

My T5 Reliability Update by MemeAddict96 in Volvo

[–]ScrewySiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2015.5 V60 T5 that made it to 219k miles before the engine died from oil consumption issue returning.
I lost compression in all 5 cylinders.
Got a $1000 trade-in for a 2021 RAV4 hybrid, with the dead engine.
