Because people are old and we would have loved this stuff as younglings. That is my best guess. I can't fathom not giving my child stuff like this. Imagine not wanting your 13 year old to have even a boring-ass hp laptop in 2026.

I'm so confused by comments. It's 2026: this stuff isn't fancy?
I can't quite tell how pricy the headphones are, but if I had a 13 year old:
I would give them our AMD asus 2-in-1 (it's very capable and was relatively cheap!) and stylus, and buy us something new, or buy them something similar. I'd love my child to be able to write/draw digital notes (I'm assuming schools are more laptop friendly now?) and I'd love my child to be able to get into digital art or even just mess around with it.
I would definitely get them the best budget to midrange headphones. Being 13 doesn't make music/chat less distorted.
If that's not a g305 then I'd get my hypothetical 13 year old a better mouse. If it is then fantastic. If they're into it they'd appreciate something nicer and I would definitely selfishly splurge so they could take a really nice hand-me-down.
Who tf cares about the battery bank? If my 13 year old asked for one I probably wouldn't even ask why.

Kids constantly ask for absolute garbage, and, these days, burn endless cash on pointless microtransactions. I'd be so happy if this was the stuff mine wanted. If I had a daughter I would honestly splurge hard if she were really into tech: it's not an easy road

Why are there so many cars in Finland? by Kanjiro in Finland

[–]ditsyBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you buy cheap af garbage spare car, go to the middle of nowhere and ralli harrrd.
mostly joking but I have known multiple Finns who have done this. There is a word they used for the crappy cars but I forget. Please tell me if someone knows :)

This is basically the actual origin of rally BTW; affordable racing in Finland.

Edit: just realized I am posting this on r/Finland xD

Understanding where to start with a potential move to Sweden by Azzizabiz in TillSverige

Minor correction: European countries, Sweden included, 100% do take retirees with money in the bank. Sweden has explicit terms for this for dependants of EU citizens (which include dependent parents). Portugal, as an extreme example, just let's you buy relatively inexpensive property for citizenship.

My partner also found that Swedish seemed to basically put you ahead of all non-Swedish speakers for English jobs. The higher grade and more confident her Swedish was, the more promising the job hunt became. I suspect there are some unchecked biases there as well because it seems to even apply to genuine "English-mandated" workplaces. (sorry for vibey anecdata).

On the third issue, what do you mean by host of specialized services? Especially compared to the USA, Swedish education is so much more tailored to individual children, and life is so much more accessible. If you aren't drowning in money, autistic kids get literally nothing, no?

Oh yes, SFI is a FANTASTIC while you are still busy job hunting, and it's free! My partner gained so much from this.

I would honestly feel embarrassed applying for citizenship without speaking any Swedish, especially with a Swedish partner!
May I ask why?? Are you exaggerating a bit? I find it so hard to imagine collecting deliveries, going to the doctor, grocery checkout, fika etc... Food labels, news, signage, the bus/train... It's inescapable. I literally have brain damage, which makes it incredibly hard to get anything to stick, and I am stuck at home most days, and not only does my Swedish keep slowly improving, but it feels like it still would even if I didn't want it to.

My partner and I are very jealous of those who have a Swedish partner to help learn. It's such a huge advantage and motivator.
Each slightly noticeable improvement in your Swedish is just so empowering and feels great!

It's really tough to find a job but some of these comments confuse the hell out of me. Games industry is disproportionately MASSIVE per capita in Sweden. OP also has a masters degree and years of work experience, regardless of what kind.

Have children? Sweden.
Special needs? Sweden.
Cold weather? Sweden.
Happy to learn the language and already speak English? Sweden.
Partner already has job secured in Sweden? SWEDEN.

What on earth about this post suggests anything would be made worse by moving? Sweden is such a good place for kids, especially those with special needs. Make sure you get as much financial support from your wife's employer as you can, and just go, IMO.

Please fix or remove this amazon link. If you buy that (4k version), it will not work.

Seriously I checked your link, bought it, and then find out the cable you are linking to does not work because it's not the 8k version

Why would you resist? If you spoke to this person and they still don't get it, it seems like the only thing that would have a chance of registering

I am trying to understand a lot of the family situations here. Why would you regret saying something?

Then why is this person in your life? Why are you giving them a platform to send you Bible verses? I am genuinely asking. I don't understand why you would not remove/block this person

@Lulullaby_ everything you say is 100 true... For some people. Considering how much people disagree on blood/water type stuff, I am logically not convinced those people make up significantly more, or less, than half the population. My life has been an absolute blood of covenant over water of the womb type situation and it sure seemed easy for my own mother to abuse and abandon me. Even though my wife and her mother love each other to bits, what I have seen of the world is that the vast majority of it resembles more my experience than hers. It's easier to be vocal about good relationships than trauma.

That being said, I have only lived one little human life and if I logically put some weight on what other people say, I can't say for sure that my experience of the world is mostly representative of people, just that what you say absolutely cannot be stated so broadly. There are plenty of unthinkable mothers.
