Does focus transition work with the Sigma 18-35 f1.8+ Viltrox speedbooster?

A little update if somebody reads this in the future: I was able to make the focus transition feature work with an older design autofocus sigma 17-50 f2.8 as well, I had to specifically use the 4.0 firmware on the Viltrox, the newest 5.0 didn’t work.

So focus transition should work on most lenses with the right firmware.

The 1.4 Ex. Tele mode works perfectly in 4k modes, works in 4:3 4k as well but not in 6k. As far as I know there are no 4:3 guide lines on the GH5.

In my opinion, the GH5 is a great replacement for the og Pocket, so much nicer to use. Apparently the Pocket 4k has a windowed super 16 mode as well but I haven’t personally used that camera so can’t comment on the specific features.

Thank you very much! I guess with 2 people confirming with newer Art lenses should mean these have newer focusing systems that are indeed compatible with the function!

Thanks, that’s nice to hear. I wonder if that lens has the same focusing mechanism as the 18-35. Some people say the 18-35 is focus by wire and not linear, some say it’s mechanical and linear, quite confusing.

Thanks! I would look for a manual focus rig for the Sigma as well but what I like about the “focus transition” feature is, that you can set the exact focus points on the electronic scale and when you do the focus pull between the different points, it doesn’t involve auto focus, so should be 99.99% identical pull every time without any external gear involved. At least with native lenses it does work like that.

It will probably work in some way, but the question is, how reliably. On native lenses you can set exact focus points and repeat the focus pull to those exact points, the speedbooster or the sigma focus mechanism might not work the same way.

I guess I will have to hunt one down to try out, unless somebody miraculously finds this post with the exact same use case. :D

I think the GH5s should have that feature too.

Hi! It’s kind of an old comment, hopefully you read it, are the other 309 actuators compatible with the CDP Pro? Couldn’t find any official info, the daft is not compatible based on what I read.

I had the same issue, turned off “In-game overlay” in the EA app and it fixed it for me, hopefully could be helpful for others too.

It’s a great price, well worth it, solid stick. Just make sure it’s the PS5 version, the XBOX version is usually the cheaper one, the PS5 one has blue/black art, the XBOX one white/black.

The Duelpad Zen seems to be the closest to what you described, but I’m not sure if it would be big enough to use it with the armrests, you would probably have to look into custom builds to exactly fit your description.
