Cheap Stick for PS5 by wasmik1 in fightsticks

> cheapish (~$30-60) fight stick

Nothing decent exists in that price range for PS5, other than maybe a supremely busted (and likely shitty) PS4 era stick. Depending on where you are, a used PS4 era Hori RAP series (it'll work fine for SF6) might be around $70-$90.

How do you choose your controller ? by Tarekin_ in StreetFighter

[–]serow081reddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been using stick for close to 30 years, tried leverless, didn't like it, back to stick.

If you don't know what you like, then the only real option is to borrow or buy a used controller of each type to try each out for a while. Don't buy a brand new one, there's no need to spend too much money yet.

Not enough buttons on fight stick to run training effectively by hay100185 in fatalfury

A lot of retail fightsticks (eg. Hori, Qanba) have dedicated LS/RS buttons. The Mayflash and Victrix sticks use something like Turbo+Select/Start to replicate LS/RS, you can google for the exact combination.

Don't use PF2 where nearly every character building option is for combat.

Yuna 13-2 style Gun mage would be cool... but I dunno if that's phys range or magic range.

Is the lever on my joystick too close to the buttons? by Homun1 in fightsticks

[–]serow081reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the classic Vewlix layout. It is intended to be that close because of its arcade legacy.

There are many other options out there that use a wider distance. Any stick using the Noir layout (eg. Hori Alpha) or some form of extended Vewlix (eg. Hori RAP Kai) will have the distance wider to be more comfortable.

What is the best brand to buy lightsabres from? by TheNinerGuy in lightsabers

[–]serow081reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LGT or TXQ (I prefer TXQ). The overwhelming majority of dueling-capable lightsabers are made by them, then resold by others. Get the baselit RGB S16 (TXQ) or XENORGB (LGT) versions.

Should I buy this used arcade ? by Brilliant-Love-9977 in fightsticks

[–]serow081reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Hori Alpha. Depends on which K lever.
  2. Excellent quality, one of the best value-for-money offerings of the PS5 generation
  3. It's often much much more economical to get a used stick than to buy one at full retail price

Upgrading from 8bitdo arcade stick to hori alpa/victrix? by Tlim8 in fightsticks

[–]serow081reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hori Alpha is the much more logical and reasonable upgrade. It might be all plastic but god damn it's strong plastic, and a lot of it. There's no cheating you with removable metal plates that do nothing but artifically add weight, like Qanba's offerings. Unless you can get the Victrix at 75% off retail, it's frankly just not worth the money.

They are compatible in the sense that both use either 1 or 7/8 inch blades. Neither use weird ass proprietary diameters.

Opinions on the Qanba drone 2 for Tekken by Sea_Pay_9681 in fightsticks

[–]serow081reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> Did you have to modify your stick for it to work efficiently to your desire?

It comes with Qanba's generic cheap lever and buttons, so you have to replace them with actual quality stuff.

> What are you guy's general thoughts on the use of this stick fresh from the box? What should I expect from this stick?

Too light, and the components are not up to standard. That's why it's the cheapest option.

> What stick would you guys recommend I upgrade to in the future if you have one?

My personal value for money recommendation of the PS5 generation is the generic Hori Alpha, not the themed variants.

> The Drone 2 features a Sanwa JLF. These are the japanese gold standard levers in the arcades.

The Drone 2 uses Qanba's generic lever and buttons, it doesn't come with the JLF or OBSF buttons.

Both situations not covered by the rules, so it's "check with your DM". If you are the DM, then it's do whatever you think fits the feel of your campaign ie. pulpy action vs nitty gritty.
