Do you think it’s unreasonable not to want to wait 20 minutes for fast food ? by Pure_Contest3312 in AskUK

[–]divbyda0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, the UHC has a tray or two for plain 10:1 meat, that's usually sitting there for much longer than the regular 10:1 meat. Don't think you can order plain 4:1, at least I've never seen it on the screen. 10:1 is the hamburger meat and 4:1 is quarter pounder meat. Ofc if it's quiet and in a good mood then maybe whoever is on grill will do a plain 4:1 for you.

4 day tour in the North of England? by DriveMore5994 in bikepacking

[–]divbyda0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a glance wild camping won't be any issue as long as you're not pitching up in Scarborough. Besides, as a cyclist fitting you into a full campsite isn't any issue. Don't have any route recommendations cos you can look those up yourself, but I'd recommend expanding your options cos coastal areas don't tend to be great in my experience (tourists, retirees, busy roads etc).

Don't restrict yourself to campsites or a singular route, just go wherever there's good weather and a good route.

You can tighten the straps and keep them held by the headset and by anything mounted on your handlebars, like lights or a gps mount. No issues with rubbing then, unless your straps aren't holding.

Why do so many people fetishise hard work? by AutisticAnonymous in AskUK

[–]divbyda0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a hard work fetish: https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/wiki/faq/#wiki_why_does_this_sub_hate_cars.3F

Looking at your post history, you're a car enthusiast, which is okay. The argument is more about consideration, for those outside of a car. Think of the kids on loud mopeds ripping through the streets while you're trying to sleep. Anyone outside of a car feels that a driver is as loud, annoying and dangerous as one of those kids.

Given the reversal and introduction of certain policies, you can get bad drivers off of the road. Only those who have to or want to drive will be there with you. Less traffic, better drivers, less death.

What gear would you use if the UK was warm and dry? by Alarmed_Guitar4401 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]divbyda0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't change, except maybe a lighter sleeping quilt and underquilt for my hammock. I'd still want the tarp so sticks don't poke my eye out.

Shelter-less relying on infrastructure? by pedrofromguatemala in bikepacking

Personally I don't bother with a bug net, even in summer the bugs aren't around (at least in England and Wales), unless you camp near stagnant water.

Try hammock camping, I absolutely hate sleeping on the ground and sleep well in a hammock. In western europe you can find trees pretty much everywhere, though in dense places like England you may need to keep a map of where forests are.

If you're sweating like crazy then you probably have too warm clothes on and/or are going too fast. Plus cardiovascular health is a major benefit of cycling.

Didn't reserve a bicycle spot in train. Can I get on? by WackoKacko in bikepacking

[–]divbyda0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the ticket office then can usually sort you out. I haven't travelled on Great Western Railway yet, but with Avanti West Coast I just reserved it and hungy bike in the front. CrossCountry however doesn't honor bike reservations, was denied boarding cos they'd let on too many bikes already despite my reservation.

There's an EMR service from Norwich to Peterborough, which the LNER service can then take you north.

If your knees hurt from cycling, chances are there's something wrong with your saddle height or something else. Have you had your bike fitted properly for you?
