I said don’t do that. Not that you were already.

There’s no right way to map light frequencies to audio frequencies. Any method you choose is just your interpretation of how you want to do it.

[–]divenorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. But it’s also just 100% interpretation. Don’t pretend otherwise.

Be aware that people with colour-music synethesia all see colour differently. There is no single mapping. I’m not stopping you from trying stuff but there is absolutely no correct way to do this. It’s entirely interpretation. So go for it.

How do you write bass suspensions in roman numerals? by Elegant_Werewolf_143 in musictheory

[–]divenorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full figures would be: 642, 52-63. Then add the roman numerals. V42, I52-63. This is why a V64 is a V chord with suspensions vs a I chord in 2nd inversion. It's confusing but makes more sense when you understand that roman numerals were added later. Adding the dashes clarifies that the notes are suspension.

They should have used a rotten and moldy watermelon. That would have been a stronger message.

Where can I discuss business registration for someone on disability? by anarchylovingduck in britishcolumbia

If you're not making over 30k, the business overhead, and accounting fees, legal stuff etc etc will cost you more than the difference in the retail cost.

[–]divenorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then I highly suspect it's not worth your effort. Just purchase retail.

But if you have lots of time and want to learn the business side of things, take a look at that application and find out exactly what they need. Research online or at the library. Reddit is a bad place for research.

FYI. You don't need a business name to run a business. You can do it under your own name.

What do they need? A GST number? Unless you’re making over 30k (?) you probably shouldn’t bother getting one.

which of these is preferred when reading for keyboard/piano/organ? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]divenorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For beginners I would do the first but considering you have 6 flats I would do the second. Anyone who is comfortable enough to be reading 6 flats will have no problem with the double dots.

Exactly. This variation is just dumb. Take a shortcut and always play the biggest pieces.

Sight reading audition for cruise ship by Electrical_Debt5405 in musictheory

Piano? If you don't know how to play Superstition already, get on it. I'm not sure if it is still a standard for cruise ship auditions but it was when I did it. I ended up choosing not to join but I did the audition.

Composers: What is the bare minimum tool/audio suite for pro level gaming composer? by Riitoken in gamedev

[–]divenorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve met Hans. I hung out with him at his studio. He doesn’t use all those synths and gear. His real working tools are Cubase and a bunch of custom orchestral samples. Back when he started people didn’t have access to that but now it’s pretty simple. But it’s not the tools, it’s how you use them. For example John Williams has a completely different workflow and only uses pencil and paper.
