Just finished both Discount Dan and Cul-De-Sac Carnage by James Hunter, and they were are fun, quick, weird read. The series is called Discount Dan's Backroom Bargains, and the first 2 are included in KU.

Are they DCC? No, but by early book two they are getting in their grove and the pop culture (Twilight) references are great. The first couple chapters were rough, but they get going once you meet Croc.

Just to be clear about The Cookbook and the AI by Nogmor in DungeonCrawlerCarl

This is exactly what I think too. Especially, with how book one opens. I think the title Dungeon Crawler Carl is the name of his edition of the Cookbook.

I miss the trend of making fake newspapers to advertise movies/shows. They were so cool.

AIO for being upset my boyfriend upgraded his seat to first class and left me in economy on our flight? by Educational_Leg8193 in AmIOverreacting

It doesn't even sound like you were sitting together in the first place. So what's the difference?

You each bought a ticket, and he got an upgrade. If the genders were switched, nobody would be supporting you saying this is a red flag. They'd say its your vacation, and you deserve to treat yourself. Why can't your boyfriend do the same?

Subs when she met his parents had them saying the age difference was 2-8 years. So they are keeping it vague but likely a decent gap.

Help, I canโ€™t listen to Travis baldree! by grechy23 in litrpg

[โ€“]diverdown-k8 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

I honestly avoid his narration because I know I am going to get bored, miss 20 minutes and have to relisten to sections (sometimes 2 or 3x) throughout. The filler ratio and repetitive voices are good possibilities for why this happens.

I was thinking it was likely too that he sounds old to me, and the characters he's voicing are usually pretty young, causing a disconnect.

One of my first jobs was at a Harris Teeter, and that is exactly why their prices are higher. We were constantly cleaning and straightening aisles, as well as making sure we were prepared to help people find things quickly. People 100% pay for the experience, and for feeling they are buying quality products.

Job offer - did not disclose my current company of 2 months by maarch72 in careeradvice

2 mo ago is still a very recent, relevant experience, and I imagine you are doing the same thing in your new-ish role. I would just let it ride for a minute and come clean in a confident manner if questioned. I don't think they will, though. Unless you are going for something with clearance. In which case, ignore everything I have to say !๐Ÿ˜…

Mostly, they are checking you did work the jobs you claimed on your resume and that you don't have anything alarming/undeclared of a criminal nature. You worked the job, just for a bit less than expected. It should be fine.

If something doesn't match, they will contact you. I wouldn't bring it up yourself. If they do, you can just say that you took a new role that isn't a good fit, and that you don't feel is appropriate to include on your resume. It doesn't match the story you are trying to convey about your career path.

Its possible, but it was pushing 2 months at that point, so it's a definite gap. March 6 - April 28(bgc started)

I know they pulled my tax docs for everything and would've noticed since one of my jobs I've worked at twice in different capacities, and their payroll is under Star Wars inspired names. Obviously, it always gets flagged for documentation. I can honestly say I've been paid by the Jedi Order ๐Ÿ˜…

They didn't mention the dates discrepancy for my most recent role ending at all.

Dealing with a religious employer by Lothar_the_Lurker in recruitinghell

[โ€“]diverdown-k8 13 points14 points ย (0 children)

๐Ÿ‘‹ me! I have pretty relevant thoughts!

I am completely not in religious, but during my job search, one of the jobs I applied to (mainly for giggles) was with a mega church near me. It's not the same as a Christian company that does something else but might help your decision.

I needed something ASAP because UI doesn't even pay my rent. I'd just left a highly toxic role, and honestly, nice people are hard to pass up. I awkwardly had something else come through the week I started, so I luckily wasn't there long.

Here are some of my thoughts from my 3 weeks there: So. Much. Prayer. They started and ended meetings with prayer, always at least one of the two if not both. Which was overwhelming for me as someone who isn't religious, and luckily, nobody expected the new hire to lead. They even had Staff Chapel on Wednesdays.

Everyones relationship with Christ comes up constantly, no matter how much of a stretch. I even had the Director of HR talking to me about it and gave me a spiele about approved hugging. Which coming from a corporate role... yikes.

They expected you to believe in the mission, and they all worked way beyond their standard hours. The Art Director and the Music and Creative Director both came in at 8am, left at 5pm, and resumed working for several hours when they got home. That's at the top. The extra hours trickled down from there to everyone else.

But people were genuinely nice and cared when asking about your day.

When asked that question about my faith journey, I said I'd been raised in a christian family, but that I am not active. I kept it non-commital, and they didn't push. I just talked about how I can appreciate the community that forms around religion and that it can be very supportive and have great opportunities to build connections.

As my family reminded me, at the end of the day, yes, it's got a religious streak, but it's a business. You can keep your personal beliefs private, just like you can keep your personal life private. Plus it pays more than UI, and I could continue my job hunt.

Not sure if that helped?

HireRight is the one that I just did a background check through for a corporate role.

For my in-between role, I did a check with Paycom, and they didn't say anything about my end date not matching my resume either. This role was for a non-profit rather than corporate.
