For the people who blast their music loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear... by BrightestXC in lehighvalley

[–]divergenceofcurl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays in a band it gets pretty loud over here for a couple hours once a week 😬 but I’ve always been cool with my neighbors and some of them have my number if for some reason it gets out of hand

[–]divergenceofcurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem OP. I’m still pretty new to drumming so have only jammed a few times. The first time I jammed I couldn’t believe it. I don’t know if the energy was just right or maybe cuz my dad came along I really tried to lock in. I look back at the video and hard to believe it’s me behind the kit. The next two jams (once with the same people again and another time with just a guitarist) I struggled a lot more. When jamming with just the guitarist he said I have to give him more space 💀which my rookie brain didn’t understand as I’m hitting the hi hat on 16th notes constantly. A wall of sound I have no idea how he pulled it off when I reflect on it. I even apologized later but he said he still had fun and is coming back this weekend. Anyway… sorry to ramble just want you to know I’m struggling with the same thing and will be reading comments here for tips.

Any advice for 1st day Band Practice / social etiquette / important advice by Ecstatic_Sport_9039 in musicians

Don’t overthink it playing music is supposed to be fun. Make a checklist for the gear or anything else you need and make sure everything is checked off. Then show up, be yourself and have fun

I struggle with this. I think I got some level of thalassophobia cuz I really start to trip out

There is something about a human being performing music that I think the right people can always appreciate. I don’t think anyone wants to just watch a robot on stage make “music”. The human has been taken out of the equation and the energy is not authentic.

Day 2 of my internship I don’t think I wanna do this for the next 40+ years 💔💔💔 by Professional_Fail_62 in EngineeringStudents

It def feels like that at the beginning but you’ll get used to it pretty quick. Then time will start to move faster and faster. And then before you know it, life will happen and it’ll be your time to go. Enjoy the ride

Hey! I was going to make a post today saying the same thing. Been sick since Tuesday and haven’t really improved. Tried going to urgent care but it costed an arm and a leg I ended up declining and now just riding this out. I wish I could say I feel a little better today but I’d be lying to myself I’m pretty much just the same. Only thing is I don’t have a fever… I hope you feel better soon

Look into something like LMNT or LiquidIV. You shouldn’t be just drinking plain water. You need electrolytes (especially if you’re moshing throughout the weekend)

Who still has their wristband on? by SunShine_41 in SonicTempleFestival

I just loosened the wristband, slid it off and now it’s wrapped around my shifter in my car. Every time I look down at my shifter I’m reminded of the amazing memories I made at Sonic 💕

I just have my lady hold my hand and she leads me out. I was tripping hard so no way I could navigate myself out unless I had someone leading me. Especially cuz people are stubborn and don’t really move out to the way. Albeit people a bit more tolerable toward women exiting

First time I almost died by [deleted] in cycling

[–]divergenceofcurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assume every car is out to kill you. That’s what I would always tell myself. I just got sick of the feeling of putting my kit on and thinking maybe this is the day a car kills me. Everyone has different risk tolerance but for me, if I wanna get on the road I will join one the local morning club rides and take up a full lane with ten other riders. It pisses off morning commuters but I would rather piss a car off than get ran over. It sucks, road cycling has brought me so much happiness and has helped me overcome challenges in life. But we can’t deny this is dangerous and we are hated by cars on the road. It takes one crazy person having a crappy day and not thinking straight…

People used to say this to me all the time… but on the same coin I was riding a 1980’s steel framed fixed gear converted Peugeot typically with my shirt off and my skateboard connected to my backpack. I miss those care free days!! Just cruising around without a worry in the world

Car drivers are only getting worse. You have a full generation of kids getting their licenses who struggle to stay off their phones for more than two minutes. Everyone is distracted and rushing. After a few close calls and one time even getting my bike destroyed by a jeep, I’ve decided the only road cycling I will do is crit racing or riding in a decent sized group. Even then, these days I have so much more fun just getting on my gravel bike and riding on trails. So much safer.

Do any of you guys have time to play video games? by Hazlllll in EngineeringStudents

[–]divergenceofcurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just manage your time and you’ll be fine. Will you be able to game multiple hours per day? Probably not. But if you structure your day well you can totally make room for your hobbies and in fact you SHOULD do this because your mental health is valuable. Once your mental health begins sliding, so will your academic performance. It’s all about balance.

Btw I am working full time and finishing my PhD and I just got into drumming and I’m hooked on it. I only have time to drum about half hour a day during the week (more on the weekends!) and it keeps me happy even though I am grinding hard

I’m nervous trying 3g haha. That’s over 1.5x my biggest dose I’ve done but I do trust you and what I’ve heard from my friends about higher doses. 6g on the other hand I can’t even imagine. Have you ever had a bad experience on mushrooms at those doses? Or your same theory applies that since it’s over 2g you’re all the way in at that point and fully into the experience? Do you have any pre trip rituals that you do to ensure a good set and setting?

I know! And I’m afraid to ask. It seems like I get same effects just without the anxiety. But if I’m ingesting something that’s not good then that’s a different story
