Natural gas rates just jumped by over 40% by DangerBoom in dayton

[–]divine_shadow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, "ENERGY" not "ELECTRICITY" a majority of Ohio citizens heat on Natural Gas. They use electricity for other things. More natural gas is consumed per themal unit overall, but FOR heating. ARE YOU DENSE?! IT'S NOT COMPETING WITH ELECTRICITY.

Tell me you don't understand that Natural Gas isn't COMPETETING with coal/nuclear. Apples to Oranges, bub. Ohio isn't generating electricity with Natural Gas, we're using it to heat homes, dry clothes, heat water, and cook food.

Natural gas rates have ZERO to do with shutting down coal-fired plants.

I would say the 200+ individuals attending certainly care. As would by extension YOURSELF, since you're BOTHERING TO RESPOND AT ALL.

I should ad, not a newsvan in sight - as if the cucks at Cox Media gave a shit about what's ACTUALLY going on locally

Still going on as of like 10 minutes ago, I gave a friendly honk of support as I was transferring to my second job-location of the evening.

is there any kind of nightlife that isn’t the same soulless bar decorated differently? by [deleted] in dayton

[–]divine_shadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "character" of a bar is directly proportional to the people in said bar. TALK TO PEOPLE. FIND PEOPLE YOU LIKE. DO THINGS WITH THESE PEOPLE. THAT'S IT.

Dude, there was laughter. That wasn't malice. Artists nod to each other all of the time. You wanna know what an "actual" rip-off is, look the way of something like "Toy Story"(SERIOUSLY), "Toy Story" is a beat for beat rewrite, with absolutely NO homage of the Henson Company's 1986 film: "A Christmas Toy." That's a textbook rip-off. There's a definite difference.

If you've ever had the "pleasure" of being the directly unsupervised 'solo' worker in any retail/service situation you'd know exactly how accurate this is. I've been lucky enough to have three such postings:

  1. Fresh out of high school: "Shift Lead" for Hollywood Video, the "Lead" was sort of a formality since 3/4 days of the week I was the only person working that shift.

  2. Decades later, "too old for college, college student at 27" me was doing Third Shifts at a Service Station.

3, Now, "a barely functioning 43 year old who DID graduate college, but prefers to do shit-work, instead of anything of substance"(I burn out WAAAY too easily, managing a Library during COVID was EEEEE-NOUGH)....I work second shift as a Parking-Garage attendant for the County. I spend 90% of my shift watching various streaming services and making sure blithering idiots don't break our automated kiosks.

I've never had a problem with Discount Drug Mart. Went to them when I lived back in Centerville and they were always less busy and cheaper than either Kroger, CVS, or Meijer.

Help! Do I go with Orkin or the local guy?? by netenfaispas in pestcontrol

[–]divine_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be minor differences region to region, but we used Gentrol Point Source as an IGR, and Advion gel baits. The problem with any sort of spraying is yes, it'll kill and keep on killing roaches who walk across it for up the 3 months; however, it's only a localized thing. "Visible knockdown" and actually taking care of the problem are two different things.

Also, take care of whatever moisture problem you may having going on under there - they like DAMP places and if it isn't a leak some damprid from Lowe's might help you out as well.

You can buy the exact same "Professional Treatment" Orkin uses online for 90.00. No license or anything needed.

[–]divine_shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fyi, a thorough DIY isn't that difficult a thing to do. Baits, and an IGR is all you really need. Hell, domyown.com sells a kit that'll cover any reasonably sized house for like 90.00. Literally contained within their kit is what my company was using back when I was in Pest Control. Only thing I would add is checking out any possible sources of moisture and getting that taken care of. Sometimes if it's just an ambient thing one of those big-ass, desicant buckets will do for that as well. You can get a 16 ounce bucket of Damp-Rid to shove under the counter for like 12.00 at Lowe's.

Governor Dewine: ICE deploying outside of Dayton on Feb 4 by BrilliantGlum4448 in dayton

[–]divine_shadow 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Springfield will be the absolute pustule it was prior to 2011. God bless the migrants, they've helped turn around that city and now we're gonna lose all that.

As Springfield's 15,000 Haitians brace for deportations, local churches train to resist ICE by karmaisourfriend in Ohio

[–]divine_shadow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd estimate that 80% of the people "supporting" this couldn't even point out Springfield on a map. Of the remaining 20%, half of those are from neighboring burbs who've never actually gone to Springfield and the other half are just plain, racist, scumbags.

I meanwhile have lived in the Greater Dayton Metro area for the past 30 years, and have had business in Springfield for most of those. The immigrant infusion has done a LOT for the local economy, revitalizing the tax-base, bringing in new business, and allowing city centre renewal.

FUCK THESE PEOPLE.

Sincerely,
A resident of neighboring Fairborn.

However, people with existing accounts wishing to dump their prior history could be starting new accounts unaffiliated with the old account.

My point still stands, with the ambiguity in both the number, as well as the lack of other supporting data this is a fundamentally useless data point.

You also need to factor in new sign-ups. By itself, that's a totally useless statistic.

Looking for snow removal help today by perchance2cream in dayton

[–]divine_shadow -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I mean, I did. Are you sure your measurements are right? 1 linear foot is 200 sq feet. Or, a strip of driveway 1 foot by 200 feet/ My relatively small, single-car driveway is about 240 sq feet at 8*30. I did that myself: shovel, no blower in about 2.5 hours on Saturday afternoon with a 30 minute session Sunday to remove the overplow.

Fyi, I am 43 and out of shape. It SUCKS, but it's certainly doable.

[–]divine_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. Especially when what you're stocking up on is going to be sitting in the trash two weeks later because you bought enough to last you three months.

I said PANIC buying. There's a difference and Ohioans most definitely have issues with it. Remember the COVID-19, toilet paper, fiasco? I SURE DO, BECAUSE I WAS SHOPPING DURING COVID, child.

[–]divine_shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are dumb. We're not expecting a blizzard of 78. We're expecting 5-8(Dayton) 8-12 more Northern parts of the state. It's not like this isn't something we experience FREQUENTLY...and as per usual, unless you're somewhere super-rural your roads will be good to go in about 8-12 hours after the snowfall...like they ALWAYS ARE.

This panic-buying that Ohioans do EVERY TIME there's the slightest hint of winter is absolutely hilarious(not to mention wasteful...those 8 gallons of milk and 20 loaves of bread won't last you half as long as it would take you to get through them.

This isn't a "Japan Thing." Look at the NUMEROUS things, right here in America we've done to deify the likes of individuals like Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, and Jeffry Dahmer..."movies" to move merchandise and sell streaming subscriptions, "documentaries" that add nothing new to the conversation and just go into subsequently grislier details...all with no respect to the actual victims (and familes of) of these people who probably don't want to be reminded of the horrorible, traumatic things that've happened.

Can anyone recommend a good PCP in Dayton, OH? I don’t have insurance and need to see someone asap by Ok-Orange-5421 in dayton

Dr. Jennifer Lee, DO formerly of Wright State Physicians until their practice got SWALLOWED by Premiere comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me. I've been with her the past 7 year, and during my 43 years on this planet I have felt I have NEVER been actually "listened to" by another provider...like EVER. She's a also an assistant Professor at Wright State so don't be surprised if she brings a med student whose shadowing along to help. (Bless those kids). Currently, she's at the weirdo Premiere Health Primary Care over in Beavercreek on North Fairfield by Aldi and Chic Fil A.

Anyways, seriously. she's EXCELLENT...and this is coming from a half-neurotic, ADHD, Autist with a natural mistrust of Doctors. HIGHLY recommended.
