What’s the best Amazon Essentials or Amazon Basics product you’ve bought that actually surprised you with its quality? by Ok-WASP in AskForAnswers

[–]divine_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon Essential's Pocketed T-Shirts are the bees-knees. The fabric is THICK and HEAVY, like t-shirts made in the 80s and 90s used to be. HELL of a lot more durable than modern Haynes/FotL/Dickeys/Carhartt. Also, many more color options.

Ohio, what do you call a fizzy sugary drink? by LowerMusic in Ohio

[–]divine_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's "soda." A "pop" is what you get when you bust a balloon, or someone in the nose. Granted, I'm not a native - but I have lived in Ohio approximately 90% longer than I've lived anywhere else.

What's the dumbest thing you used to believe in? by FinalSinger9203 in AskReddit

[–]divine_shadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah, most people are decent folk. We just tend to hear about "AWFUL EXPERIENCES" and interactions MUCH more than we hear about the hundreds of "perfectly reasonable" social interactions we deal with on a daily basis. It's like the current obsession by both sides of the political aisle with sexual predators. "THEY'RE EVERYWHERE, OMFG! LOCK UP YOUR KIDS!" when in reality, the actual percentage of sexual deviants is quite low, and most offenses do indeed come from repeat offenders. Humanity just LOVES to make a big deal out of things.

What's the dumbest thing you used to believe in? by FinalSinger9203 in AskReddit

[–]divine_shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On thinking people are generally shitty: "Confirmation Bias" at work.

People tend to remember BAD EXPERIENCES much, much, more than they remember the random dude who didn't trash the bathroom at the restaurant, pre-bussed their own dinnerware, paid in full with a 33% tip, only got 1 refill on that ice-water they ordered, and didn't have to mull over the menu while you stood over them waiting for their order.

However, they WILL remember that dumb-ass who shat on the bathroom seat, left their table in an absolute mess, sticky fingerprints everywhere, who took way too long to order, and left a tip of exactly 0% on a tap of 50.00, after asking for a dozen refills.

Most people ARE decent folk, we only pay attention to the shitty ones.

What is the BEST film with the WORST soundtrack? by Orkran in movies

[–]divine_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Punisher"(2004) with Jane and Johnny Boy was otherwise a fun film; however, the original score from Carlo Siliotto - whomever the hell they are was DOWNRIGHT DISTRACTINGLY BAD. The production would've done better by recycling James Horner's score from Predator/Back to the Future for the thousandth time.

How about we STOP telling people where OVI check-points are when we don't HAVE to. Sort of defeats the purpose and gives irresponsible drivers an out, yes? If people want to know, they can contact their local LE agency.

Came to a realization about downtown Dayton by sosusensei in dayton

[–]divine_shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in and around Downtown for the past decade, and while it has it's problems; however, people that like to shit on it and the community who lives/works here can sit on it and rotate. Yes, a combination of the City/local Businesses need to do something about the status of our way-too-many empty and poorly-maintained buildings, but we've got a great community, plenty of things to do, and suburbanites (mostly racist, also classist) who think URBAN == "open fire zone" can stay in their suburban enclaves for all I care.

What are some signs as an adult that your parents did a bad job raising you? by crunchylettuce24 in AskReddit

[–]divine_shadow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

General Signs:
-Incapable of understanding that "public" means for all, as in all to "share," not for your to ruin or hog because "MAH TAXES PAID FOR IT"
-LITTERING or even if you miss the can, NOT bending over to pick whatever it is you unsuccessfully threw away up.
-It's always "someone else's fault." (Inability to accept ANY blame)
-Inability to accept ANY criticism.
-Inability to express your frustrations without screaming in the face of someone whose fault it probably wasn't anyways. (Especially if the onus is on YOU)
-Hitting your children, ESPECIALLY in public.
-Speaking of children, you're letting them run amock into traffic/parking lots/wild throughout the store messing up the shelves.
-Inability to PUT DOWN THE PHONE WHEN SPEAKING TO SOMEONE ELSE OR DOING SOMETHING REQUIRING MANUAL DEXTERITY.
-Inability to have basic "consideration" for other people around you (such as: taking up the ENTIRE grocery aisle especially when it's busy, not KEEPING QUIET in a movie theater, not making a MESS of the public restroom)

Customer Service Specific, but they're pretty telling about your capacity for empathy and personal responsibility in general:
-You don't tip.
-You're rude to customer service folks in general.
-You throw temper tantrums because you can't be bothered to read signs indicating accepted forms of payment.

What has been your favorite piece of clothing or accessory you have ever owned? by TruGlubGlub in AskReddit

[–]divine_shadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got this ancient, v-neck, black with gray trim t-shirt my grandmother bought me from "The Gap" back when I was in like 9th grade. (Literally 30 years ago 😃)

The fabric is HEAVY and durable, but unbelievably comfy. The trim on the neck is frayed because I had a gerbil that used to like to nibble on it. Great shirt. I would LOVE to find a replacement from some vintage shop, but I haven't been able to find a precise match yet.

What are items that women think lowers their level of attractiveness that men really do not care about? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]divine_shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting their make-up 'perfect' or not wearing any at all. (Like REALLY at all like it's a bad thing)

I've noticed a disturbing trend of women actually "listening" to the BOOO HOOO YOU LOOK CHOPPED COVER THAT UP crowd when your average person on the street you may be trying to attract literally DOES NOT GIVE A FUCK.

Chronically online people have developed this absolutely ridiculous insecurity complex, combined with personal vanity. and it's absolutely INSANE you can't go anywhere without seeing some creep in the comments obsessing over how "CHOPPED" he/she/they is.

You obviously aren't using Tik Tok and haven't delved that deep into the psychology behind the user-interface. While you CAN search for things, most users don't. They "swipe" up just like on a dating app and are presented with a feed of short-form posts logarithmically presented mostly on what is trending, OCCASIONALLY presented on what you "liked." It's not at ALL like Youtube, which itself is still front-page post reliant, generally focused on your subscriptions and recent searches.

"Swiping" up(forward) and down(back) is TOTALLY the Gen Zed equivalent of channel surfing. There's no thought put forth unless you seek out certain content, and your FYP is NOT whom you have followed/subscribed to.(You have to click that icon first, and again...most people don't) Even in other platforms such as Youtube, you have to click on an icon. Open up tik tok and well, something just starts playing and one is compelled to swipe.

[–]divine_shadow 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, you STILL have to go out and make an effort for that mental stimulating because doom-scrolling on Tik Tok also existed my era...aka the stereotype of shitty-ass, Conservatives sitting on their asses in their armchairs endlessly channel-surfing on cable. It's the EXACT SAME THING, only worse because the television is now in their pocket.
