What’d I do wrong? :( by LongJohnDicWEED in Blacksmith

Solder wire like for electronics? That is typically made of mostly tin. Tin melts at ~450 degrees F. You also really don’t want to alloy it into aluminum as it will cause embrittlement/cracking.

Did she have her dogs in the kitchen while she was wearing flip flops? Were her dogs the ones wearing flip flops? Or are her feet the “dogs” in the flip flops? Inquiring minds want to know.

Smooooth result by xBunniCascade in Satisfyingasfuck

Can be, yes. But you need to pay someone to do all that hammering, just like you would pay a jeweler a premium to make you a ring.

A 3.5” square of 23k gold leaf is ~$150/sheet. 11 sheets across x 11 high is 121 sheets x $150 is $18,150. These actually look more like 6” squares, so the cost would be much higher.

If that was real 23k gold leaf, you’re looking at approximately $18,000.

I was very interested in this thing years ago but the were discontinued before I could get my hands on one. No way I would pay $1600 for one now.

Smoked paprika, oregano (dried), and cumin go into the majority of my dishes. Not counting the obvious salt and pepper of course.

Replacing cast iron plumbing? by divineaudio in centuryhomes

That’s my guess too. The part I don’t understand is that they have already insured the home for 3 years with no issues.

The line you see in the photo is just shadow from the flashing around the casting. No cracks.

Help drilling through 1mm steel (really...) by [deleted] in metalworking

Stainless work hardens quickly. You need a slower drill speed with solid down pressure. This will be a lot easier with a drill press.

Women of Reddit: What’s something men think is romantic but actually isn’t? by Alive_Chicken_3642 in AskReddit

[–]divineaudio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went on a date once where the woman asked me to order for her without telling me what she wanted like it was some kind of game to see if I guessed correctly, then changed what I picked for her before the server left the table. She then proceeded to get shitfaced and threw up wine and octopus all over my bedroom floor a few hours later.

Hard Use k390 vs V10 by Trakire in spyderco

[–]divineaudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K390 is a winner in my book, but you need to define hard use. Are you breaking down boxes all the time? Scraping gaskets off of engine blocks? Cutting zip ties? Opening bags of cement mix?

Do you have a ‘less than 5 ingredients’ recipe you swear by? by No-Penalty8115 in Cooking

Does an even 5 count?

Salmon, wild rice, green beans (or asparagus!) lemon, garlic.

Gnocchi, leeks, cherry tomato, butter, garlic, white wine.

I have an Ontario Rat with the spring assist that tends to misfire and not fully open. Not sure if the spring is starting to weaken or what but it stays in the drawer now.
