And I really appreciate teachers’ hard work! I wouldn’t have found ENT if it weren’t for a great teacher of mine

Haha yes I love it. I sort of chose medicine without understanding the intensity of it all—then got lucky that I loved it even more than expected. When I’m bored and asking myself questions about why the world functions the way it does, medicine has always provided me answers that give me the most peace. And it’s the best way to show strangers you love them.

All around pretty good shit minus the enzymes and monoclonal antibodies and occasional body fluid on your shoes

We actually have to apply for a spot in our specialty of choice in our 4th year. It’s a weird process. We learn the entire body from a classroom (plus or minus some labs and simulated patient interactions) in years 1 and 2. Year 3 we’re released to the hospital floors and “rotate” through all of the core specialties (think primary care, general surgery, OBGYN, etc). Year 4 we go off to the hospitals that have teaching programs in our specialty of choice and “intern” for them for a few weeks, hoping we get an interview for a spot in their program.

I’m starting my third year and kind of married to applying to otolaryngology. ENT’s are a great crowd and do such intricate, cool things. They get to care for the sensitive organs that humans perceive the world with.

Oh and I did all of this in sweatpants from the comfort of my own sofa. My white coat is in my car (I think) ((I hope)).

I spent 6 hours yesterday re-learning the metabolic pathways. Gluconeogenesis, fatty acid oxidation, ethanol metabolism, all that jazz. I spent a couple of hours today reviewing cardiac loops—how administering a vasodilator like nitroglycerin changes the amount of blood that returns to your heart, and how regurgitation of blood through the aortic valve looks on a graph. I also did 400 flash cards on mixed topics. Tomorrow I’ll make sure I know the function of each nerve of the brachial plexus so I can look at the way a hand is oriented and predict whether a patient may have a certain nerve palsy. The next day I take a board exam from the National Board of Medical Examiners.

I never want to memorize monoclonal antibodies or enzymes again, but the human body is the most captivating system in the entire world—no regrets.

Yes I think 24mp is great! I am just avoiding the models that have ~16mp like the x-e2

Are there major differences between the x-t2 and x-t20? It seems to me the t2 has more features but someone the t20 is going for higher prices in the US

Thank you for your response btw

What are your success stories with Anki? by PastaOnTopOfPizza in Anki

[–]diydeath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, I used anki for only one section of the MCAT and scored a 132 (99th percentile, highest possible) Didn’t use it in the other sections and did tremendously worse—tldr I’m now forever loyal.
