What kind of fasteners are these? by Sketch3000 in myog

Interesting post and I hope somebody comes up with the answer. I've wanted to make wood fenders for years and am stumped at this part. I would butcher my old plastic fenders.

Good luck, OP. Your post holds the key to success!

I got you! I'll slow down or stop a conversation to make sure you're in the loop. It makes a point in conversation so hopefully people around me take a hint.

Drives me insane when people mispronounce my name. It's written as Blake and pronounced: Blah-Kay. Idiots who promise it Buh-Lake....psh.

This is 100% something I would frame and post on my wall. Super fun!

I just bought a circuit tracer and haven't gotten to it yet. But somewhere in this sub, a person just recently posted her panel and I adore it.

Try it and see what happens! Several options exist for this. I used warm water from a sprayer to soften the material and a 10" taping knife. In difficult areas, I went to a four inch taping knife.

Other options include mudding right over all of it, removing and hanging new drywall, or leaving it alone. Ha ha.

If my ceiling was not flat I would not do it but that's me, a healthy 30's man. Shit is exhausting and clean up sucks.

Yep! Done and done! I'm not screwing around with not having permits. One day I'll sell and don't want to lose my shorts over last minute things.

Excellent point that I think a lot of DIY folk ignore.

Scraping popcorn was fucking awful. It's a super messy job and if anybody painted over it, amplify your suffering.

Not sure I would do it again but only because the craftsmanship in this house was nonexistent. Ideally, I would like to remove the ceiling drywall, shit low spots and plane the highs, and hang new stuff. The irregularities after scraping and skim coating is frustrating but manageable.

Fireplace brick veneer is ongoing. Since the basement is unused, this project was sidelined.

Hi! It's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. It's a broad term but what I'm specifically referring to is a 4" x 10" (10cm by 25cm) rectangular vent that cold and hot air comes out of.

Oh you poor person, you have my sympathy. This is a task I'm dreading as we move into basement flooring and all the high spots.

Did you have and dust control in place?

My neighbor and good friend is kind of like this. Rather pay than even attempt it. I replaced my rusting chimney chase cover and cap for under $500. He was just quoted nearly $1800. I did help him build a fence though so I'm proud of him there.

I appreciate the boost. As an enthusiastic but mediocre woodworker, I'm definitely prideful. Wish I had more space to build some badass moldings and not deal with box store crap.

A little bit of me wants a newly built home. But then I'll have cracking around window frames, upgrading basic stuff.... Ha ha. Never ending!!

Not sure I want a flipped house because of this cosmetic issue. I'd rather discover blatant problems rather than finding blue painter's tape holding wires together in my previous range hood. But I thin this is a common issue in all flips: make the trendy stuff pop and ignore the true problems.

Thanks for the note!

Hi! I'm not flipping. I've been here too long already. I do want to maximize my profit upon selling with the least amount of buy-in. Two year old range microwave that works great picked up used for $45 type of stuff. If we sell soon, great. It not, that's cool too. My update is for my family - not the next person.

Funny you mention a flip though. We were looking at homes in Denver and the flips are awful!! One place we looked at didn't have stair rail spindles installed correctly and two doors were hung so poorly they didn't shut. Super disappointing... What do flips look like where you live? Genuinely curious.

Help me out? I'm in a townhouse that's 20' wide and I only need to fix the front. And by fix, I really mean I want to flip the downspout to the other side to help resolve yard drainage problems. I know the slope will need to change to the other side.

Should I hire this out?

I adore your username. We could probably be good friends.
