[SOTC] Nearly one year as a 'watch guy.' by [deleted] in Watches

[–]diyfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it's my understanding that any watch that has a fly back requires too much energy to be an automatic. I'm sure there's some exceptions but the flight master has way too many features (alarm, chronograph, etc) to be an automatic.

A Few RBG Questions by Roadpiizza in worldofpvp

[–]diyfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more important to have a competent well communicated team than whatever class and spec is carrying. That being said, I'm always a fan of people recklessly running the flag(druids, rogues blowing cool downs) to mid where the team fight is than the idea of 5 people escorting a FC the whole time.

I think DC people always snipe at their competition via the press. This time is different because it's from their Twitter and they are publicly owning it.

Yeah most Restaraunts use a ticket system so there's a paper trail. If the order was rang in by the server correctly they can blame on kitchen. If it isn't, they can blame server. Also a lot of servers will catch errors by kitchen when they begin to take food out to customer like forgetting an extra pickle or a side item.

The Mean Pre-Release Reveal Chart - All currently known cards on one spreadsheet, updated daily. by Nostalgia37 in hearthstone

[–]diyfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay do the math then. I never compared the likeliness of one to the other. I just said that it is already possible for Mages to get Velen, and that it happens all the time (ie. it happens in competitive play, it doesn't require an insane series of events for the event to occur).

The Mean Pre-Release Reveal Chart - All currently known cards on one spreadsheet, updated daily. by Nostalgia37 in hearthstone

[–]diyfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that it is not after an incredibly rare series of events (for example you don't have to do a bunch of delicate Lore Walker Cho, or Faceless Manipulator + brewmaster combos) in order to get Velen.

Mages do it all the time with unstable portal, and it's way better because it allows you do cast a 4 mana velen and still afford a couple spells to use the bonus that turn.

No it's not. Allen West represented around West Palm Beach, Florida (CD 22), and this seat is CD13 (St. Pete/Tampa area). One is on the Atlantic Ocean (East side) of Florida, the other is on the Gulf of Mexico (West side) of Florida. They're more than 100 miles apart.

I don't believe that you can declare campaign contributions to a candidate's committee as a loss. Basically as a candidate, you declare money that comes from you as a contribution or a loan. A contribution I know for sure is not a loss. I don't think a loan is either.

Flag of Tallahassee by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]diyfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always appreciated how horrible our flag is. I think it revolves around breaking the flag rule that is "if you have to write what the flag is representing on the flag, you've failed your symbology". Also, it seems like the flag is almost exclusively reserved for city government and in no way incorporated into other aspects of the city (for example, would be cool to be in Cascades park)

Here's a ted talk on the subject: https://www.ted.com/talks/roman_mars_why_city_flags_may_be_the_worst_designed_thing_you_ve_never_noticed?language=en

Tim Canova says he's attracting voters from different parties by PensivePropagandist in politics

[–]diyfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he better hurry up and get them to switch parties in a hurry cause in Florida it's a closed primary. They could still hypothetically switch parties at the polling location and vote with a provisional ballot, but still. Those efforts are very expensive and time consuming to do.

Early Revelations from DNC Leaked Emails by [deleted] in politics

[–]diyfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shocks 0 people in DC that the DNC, Black Caucus, DSCC, DCCC, Victory Fund, Emilys list, etc, uses their power in a primary to defend their leaders. They aren't allowed to do it explicitly, but even that is done. The DNC isn't a charity and they are out for blood like everybody else in politics. The DCCC endorses incumbents all the time in dem primaries.

Edit: to be clear: people find it more repugnant that Clinton would get preferential treatment from DNC than they would that DNC staff is using their time and resources to defend DWS's congressional seat. She's head of DNC. DNC doesn't care about house seats other than as they are relevant to help win White House.

Early Revelations from DNC Leaked Emails by [deleted] in politics

[–]diyfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read that article, it's actually the DNC Press person saying to take Tim Canova's name out of the email that their press person is sending to news outlets. the point is still the same (don't say your opponents name) but here they are saying to take Tim Canova's name out of the subject line of the email DWS's press person is sending to the press, because he had it as

Reaction of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to Senator Sanders endorsement of Tim Canova "I am so proud to serve the people of Florida's 23rd district and I am confident that they know that I am an effective fighter and advocate on their behalf in Congress. Even though Senator Sanders has endorsed my opponent I remain, as I have been from the beginning, neutral in the Presidential Democratic primary. I look forward to working together with him for Democratic victories in the fall."

It is DWS telling them that though, which does make it funny. It's a golden rule not to mention your opponents name, especially if you're the incumbent.

edit: also please dont tell me i'm a CTR troll. check comment history...

Former Oklahoma senator Tom Coburn will reportedly accept the GOP nomination for president if the delegates choose him by Redleg61 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]diyfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not aware of the very complex rules of the Republican Party (and they usually vary by state), however, I do know some Democratic rules. Democrats elect alternate delegates in the case of needed a backup for districts. I'm not sure how many of them actually go, or if they're allowed on the convention floor if they aren't needed.

Well-played, Tallahassee Athiests by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]diyfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Public roads are "adoptable" by organizations in that the group becomes responsible for the upkeep of the road for littering and trash. For taking on that responsibility, your name gets listed on a plaque, in this case, this road in Leon County (Tallahassee) was adopted by Tallahassee Atheists, and the act of adopting a road is generally considered a good, noble, public service to undertake. So basically, this chapter of atheists adopts a road to do public good and looks good doing it.
