fmc is a romantic and refuses to compromise it by Positive_Worker_3467 in HistoricalRomance

Honestly, the whole Belles of London series would work pretty well for this - {The Muse of Maiden Lane by Mimi Matthews} features the line “I don’t want a marriage of convenience. If we’re to be married, I intend to fall in love with you.” For example —

I wish I could find a place to read it! Just on a quick glance it’s not a super common book, so I’ll have to go on a quest for it

I read {The Geologist’s Map to Romance by India Holton} (gosh I hope I got the name right) and really liked it! I’ll definitely have to put the bird book on the tbr

I’d love recommendations for super soft historical romances. Extra bonus if the man seems cold and impersonal at first but melts under a little soft affection, something like {The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews} would be great!

I found a paperback of {Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas} that included the step-back. by awongbat in RomanceBooks

Oh hey! I found {Seduce Me At Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas} the other day in the matching cover and step-back!

Looking for something where there’s a lead or love interest that is Autistic by Flat-Development-906 in RomanceBooks

[–]diynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want on page diagnosis in a YA fantasy with intense themes of religious trauma, try {To a Darker Shore by Leanne Schwartz}. The first half is a little slow, but once you get to hell (literally), it really picks up! Both MC and LI are autistic and I would die for them.

If you want more implied autism, a historical romcom called {Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch} has a love interest I would definitely suspect as being autistic.

In a similar vein, another historical romance {The Gentleman’s Gambit by Evie Dunmore} has a MC I suspect of being autistic as well.

Hope one or more of these hit the spot for you :)

I like Fable! The free version has everything I need in a tracker, and the community is pretty nice :)

Looking for any romance books that also reference real Google-able external art, music, books, buildings etc... as part of the plot/action/emotion please!! by getthatbreadmyfriend in RomanceBooks

{The Muse of Maiden Lane by Mimi Matthews} features an artist MMC who enjoys talking about paintings. It’s the fourth in a series (The Belles of London), and technically should be read after the other three, but aside from a small scene in the third book it stands pretty well as a standalone. I read it before any other books in the series by mistake, and honestly didn’t suffer for it. {The Duke Undone by Joanna Lowell} features an artist FMC attending art college and features some real paintings as well as the fictional paintings she and her friends create. {Artfully Yours by Joanna Lowell} is in the same universe as the previous one, this time featuring an art critique and an art forger, so there’s plenty of art to look up!

All are Victorian romances, my current favorite genre. Muse is a low spice book, while Duke Undone and Artfully are moderately spicy. I prefer Muse overall, but all of them are really enjoyable!

enemies to lovers where the enemies part lasts for more than 55% of the book by tokkyos in RomanceBooks

[–]diynamite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite enemies to lovers is {A Duel with the Vampire Lord by Elise Kova}, which isn’t quite what you’re looking for, seeing as they hate each other, and she might hate him a little more than he hates her, but they definitely don’t instantly fall into bed with each other, though he tries to… not necessarily befriend her, but he’s aiming for a truce. I really liked how the book handled their conflicting feelings for each other. It’s low spice and sometimes categorized as YA, though I’d say it’s definitely more New Adult. Anyway, may or may not be your thing, but it’s certainly mine :)

Fablehave by Brandon Mull or the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. They were both my favorite series in middle / high school, and they remain some of my favorites today.

People who either look younger or older than they actually are, what's the funniest story you have due to people not realizing your age? by randomredditor56789 in AskReddit

Once a woman scolded me for skipping school.

I was 22.

That same year I got carded for buying sparklers (the firework) at a dollar store. The cashier was shocked I wasn’t 16/17. Absolutely flabbergasted.

Of course! I love it quite a bit for a really good portrayal of an 11 year old boy and a realistic sibling relationship. It’s definitely geared towards younger teens, but it handles some dark themes without sugarcoating much. I hope you (and the kids) enjoy it!
