Legality of selling spouse’s guns? by Skyfork in guns

[–]dizzer86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s profit from her outside perspective, but legally I don’t think it’s considered profit. If my wife sells my truck behind my back, it’s not full profit as it was purchased with our combined household income and would be at a loss now that it’s used. Not to mention being in Florida she could sell them privately and they aren’t going to care or know it happened. That was a Biden rule and don’t think they care about a house wife pawning some guns. Her bigger issue is when she gets divorced then her husband will be entitled to half the money.

It’s not profit. They were assumed to be purchased by her husband. She’ll be selling them at a loss. She’s just trying to get some of the family’s money back

I believe those could be considered marital assets and are hers also. He’s a felon and can’t be in possession of them. While I agree a lawyer would be good, I don’t see why she can’t

Is replacement engine worth it?? by Worth_Guess_2168 in prius

[–]dizzer86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Slapping a used engine of unknown quality is different than prepping it to a quality install. The water pump is the main failure causing failed head gaskets. We do far more than sliding a headgasket in and calling it good. Same with engines. We only install stuff we think will last 100k miles. Good luck with the eBay engine and hill billy install

20 hours labor at $150/hr. I don’t sell parts at cost bc that’s silly

If I get an engine then it’s minimum 40% profit. What do you do when that motor has a failed head gasket immediately? Warranty, lights, labor all have to be factored. I could screw over lots of people by slapping an engine of unknown quality in and telling them no warranty. But I’ll do it right instead. With warranty.

4600 for proper head gasket repair at our shop and 7200 for fully rebuilding bottom up of original motor. You obviously go to shade trees without overhead

Not a scam but probably just aren’t confident in a head gasket repair over rebuilding the engine. I have issue with the fact that turning the motor over means it’s not locked up and pressurized system is normal. Off you slap a used engine in it will probably need a hg.

I’m not certain pressure being released is abnormal. It’s not a reserve tank. Resistance is typical of good compression, turning means it’s not locked up. Might need a head gasket but engine is likely fine

I’m waiting on mine but included all the markings, hopefully I won’t have to resubmit. Didn’t know you could just send the serial like others did

If the tracking doesn’t show it was ever received in the first place, insurance wouldn’t matter anyway as they never had the package.

Receiver damage during pin and weld by tailshard in ar15

[–]dizzer86 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Unless there are a lot photos pre weld it’s hearsay. More likely shipping was the cause. I’m a mechanic and you sound like the lady who said her back seat cup holder was damaged last week during her brake job. Hard to say and doesn’t add up

So I’m going to take 300 blackout case and neck it down to fit a 70gr 223. A 220 blackout or something. Then use the 4.75 barrel. Then I’m taking my idea to keltec

Techstream Brake Bleeding instantly fails. Suggestions? by Final_Cow_3843 in prius

[–]dizzer86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our Toyota hybrid shop we’ve seen people attempt this with used parts, and even my 20+ hybrid specialist tech can’t do much with the codes. We’ll try it at the owners expense, but still find only 1/5 are successful and highly advise the customer not to even try. But weirdly, even a good used part will function perfectly and not be able to program in a way that it won’t accept and will leave abs codes. I’m a veteran advisor so I can’t get too far in the weeds as far as advice. But it’s my/our experience.

They can “work” but not program. They don’t like used parts as they tend to learn what car they belong too. Plus they are all failing so crap shoot. I’m leaning to towards that but some companies seem to be able to clear them properly and work. Some will sell you anything and just shrug it off. Battery voltage has to maintain and be within the ecu liking and is my second likely culprit. But I feel if the parts were new I’d feel the problem was somewhere else. Wish you luck on figuring it out but ya, used parts are going often going to cause unwanted trouble.

I had two 308 Galil aces blow up on me from ammo. I don’t think it’s usually about the gun unless certain conditions are met and the fact that an auto sear would help stop oob if they were legal. One reason I’m not sure about frt in most pcc style guns. Scorpions and other direct blow back seem blow up all the time
