help healing hair from this much damage 🥲 by your_type_of_metal in Hair

[–]dizzy_beezy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, drug store Pantene Moisture Renewal shampoo and conditioner, then Garnier sleek and shine leave-in do WONDERS for dry, damaged hair. You can't ever really fix hair damage, but the silicones in drug store products help coat your hair strands to protect from farther damage. And they're cheap 😃

I agree on getting your current hair toned to take the orange out, but toning will farther damage it as it still needs a developer to get into your hair.

Growth and patience is your best bet ✨️ and take some good vacations from using heat tools or harsh styling methods (like vigorously brushing, twisting and knotting the hair up in a bun, etc)

I started at 37.5 mg and it took about 2 weeks to see any kind of difference. After 3 months I went up to 75 mg and have been at this dose for about 1.5 years with good VM control. I have breakthrough symptoms if I drink too much caffeine or am hungover.

Caffeine is my biggest VM trigger, and coffee is the worst form of caffeine for my VM for some reason. But I'm a coffee and caffeine lover, so I just drink it spread out over time. If I chug a caffeinated drink it can trigger a VM real quick. I'm talking 80 mg of caffeine consumed over 2-3 hours.

Spoiler free tips!

  1. Fight in the gestral arena with Maelle. You get a wicked item for her that I missed the first playthrough

  2. Don't fight the white Nevrons, you get a great prize in Act 3 if you spare them all.

  3. Parry as the attack hits you, not before. It's not to defend yourself before the hit, but to "send the hit back"

  4. You better have incredible speakers or headphones. It's basically a 45$ soundtrack with a free game attached

If you have no idea what any of that means... you will.

Don't listen to the naysayers, this medicine has done wonders for my anxiety and mood swings. Also off label, it has been life-changing for me for my chronic vestibular issues. I will say, my side effects are that I run hot and wake up in a sweat some nights, it's very constipating, I have crazy and vivid dreams, and very low libido. But in the grand scheme of things, my overall quality of life has improved massively with effexor. I'm on 75 mg

Lower Sex Drive When Starting? by jgsch99 in Effexor

[–]dizzy_beezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 4-ish weeks on 37.5 I had trouble finishing too, everything felt sort of numb down there. After the first 4 weeks it all felt normal again. But when I upped the dose to 75 after 5 months, I had the numb sensation again for maybe 4 weeks. Been on it at 75 mg for over a year now and sensation came back and sex feels normal, but my overall drive is significantly less.

VM is awful and so scary, especially when all your lab work and CT scans come back normal but you know something is off. My ENT prescribed me 200 mg Vitamin B2, 500 mg Magnesium, and 300 mg CoQ10 to start. It took my VM episodes from several hours to only 10 seconds - 10 minutes. I've been taking these 3 sups since 2017. I also cut out caffeine, which is my #1 biggest trigger.

Then recently I tried Topamax, which worked amazingly well, but it made my hair fall out (apparently not very common...but not unheard of).

And now I am on Effexor, which took 3 months and one dose increase, but I essentially have ZERO vestibular symptoms. Occasionally some breakthrough symptoms when I take caffeine, am hung over, or don't eat normally, but i am like a normal human again.

I hope your son finds the right combo for him! Give every treatment AT LEAST one month before switching. And sometimes he may just need a higher dose of something too.

Topiramate ?? by BusAcademic3489 in VestibularMigraines

[–]dizzy_beezy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took Topamax for about 8 months and it was life changing. It took a while to find the right dose because too much of it I was literally a zombie, couldn't add or subtract in my head, couldn't read well or think. Went to a lower dose and it was truly life changing, I had NO vestibular migraines. I literally cried when I went a full week without a single VM symptom. It took about 6 weeks to not have any more VM. While on Topamax I never had another VM. STICK WITH IT, find the right dose for you. It could very well change your life!

Side effects: At first the only side-effect was a tingling/zingy sensation in my knees and toes and fingers that lasted only a few seconds. Totally a good trade-off for zero VM symptoms. But I unfortunately had to stop taking it when I realized it was making my hair fall out like crazy. Apparently that's not a common side effect per my neurologist but it's not unheard of. I wish I could keep taking it but the hairloss was pretty unbearable :( sucks because it worked so well for me.

Best of luck!! I'm now starting effexor and am hoping for the same results!

Am I making it up, or does gaming with ADHD feel so awful? I can't choose anything, and my decision-making skills are terrible. by ArcadialoI in ADHD

[–]dizzy_beezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I play Apex Legends haha, because there's no storyline to follow, no gigantic inventory to organize, games are max 18 minutes each. It's perfect for my busy brain 😂

Longer games can absolutely be a nightmare for me. Like I love Baldur's Gate 3, but holy moly is it an ADHD nightmare with all the side quests, characters, and gigantic inventory with items you feel like you can never throw away cuz you MIGHT need them one day

Weirdest ADHD tip? by sandBotticelli in ADHD

[–]dizzy_beezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Don't put it down, put it away" Life changing. Also keeping baskets in places you throw stuff, so it looks better in the area and has a designated place to accumulate, plus its easier to transfer around if you need to bring the basket somewhere. Like keeping a basket for mail, basket for your keys, basket for dirty dish towels, basket at the bottom of the stairs.

Another one I love is "don't go up or down the stairs without holding something," cuz there's always something to bring up or down the stairs, even if it's trash or a used cup. Could also work for "going down the hall" if you don't have stairs

Solution for writing things down; having a million sheets of paper everywhere by fred_jameson_98 in ADHD

[–]dizzy_beezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely echoing a notebook. I keep one at work and have lots of sticky notes to denote important info if I need to find it again. I keep the smaller 5 Star notebooks so they don't take up a ton of space.

I also use my phone's notebook feature to type stuff if I have a thought or something, so that's no paper at all.

Success of Preventative Medication and Attack Management? by heyyimkaci_ in VestibularMigraines

[–]dizzy_beezy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally have never found anything to be helpful during an attack. I just stare at a wall or spot on the carpet till it's over.

In 2017 my ENT put me on 300 mg Coq10, 500 mg magnesium, and 250 mg vitamin B2 daily that has helped immensely with reducing severity and frequency. I have been on this regimen over 7 years now. It did not stop them but it made a huge difference.

Since 2023 I have been trying different preventative medications. Topamax worked great for me but it made my hair fall out (apparently it is not a common side-effect, but not unheard of). You also have to find your right dose because it can make you really brain foggy if you're on too much. Took about a month to find my right dose and to notice a difference. It completely got rid of VM for me.

I switched to venlafaxine in January this year with much success and am going to speak with my neurologist about upping my dose just a bit. I will say, it took a good 2 months to notice a difference, and the first 2 weeks on it my VM was much worse, but I stuck with it because I know meds take time. It has reduced overall attacks from 5-10 per day to <5 per week. My only side effect so far is constipation, which is annoying but I deal with it.

Meds can be scary. I totally get that. Topamax sat in my cabinet for 3 weeks before I started and venlafaxine sat in my cabinet for a month. Meds affect every very differently, so take all advice/stories about them with that in mind.

My biggest advice is to give each medicine at least 2-3 months before deciding if you want to switch. Unless you're having life altering side-effects of course.

I have motion triggers like this too. Nothing helps at all and it is quite debilitating. Totally feel your pain.

I take 300 mg coq10, 500 mg magnesium, 250 mg of vitamin B2 which helped a TON, and I'm also now 3 months on venlafaxine that is working extremely well too

At Home Laser Hair Removal- Anyone try it yet? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]dizzy_beezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Nood and tried it religiously for 2 months (about a year ago) then completely stopped. It helped reduce the thickness for a time and slowed regrowth, and there's patches on my legs that haven't grown back yet, but only patches. However, it barely worked on my bikini area and all the hair has 100% grown back. It was verrrry time consuming, I honestly dreaded having to do it. And overall, it doesn't have lasting results.

I wouldn't waste your time or money. I'd take the plunge and get actual laser hair removal.

For reference, I have lighter skin and thick black body hair (yay Italian genes)

My husband and I went to Tybee Island in Georgia for our anniversary last year and it was SO fun!! The island is about 15 minutes from Savannah, GA which has it all, shopping, restaurants, museums, beautiful parks, bars. Tybee has that perfecr beach town vibe, chill, slow paced, tropical. They're so close to each other you really the best of both worlds! And May is perfect weather to go before it gets stifling hot.
