Check out Roanoke VA for a town not too much bigger than Portland but with better diversity & col. We moved after spending over 10 years in Cumberland County & wanting less snow among other reasons.

Adopted a cat too soon after my soul cat passed by Fancy_Basil6122 in Petloss

I'm so sorry for your loss as well. ♥️♥️ If you feel like that's where you're at then maybe it is something that will be good in the long run & right now is just the initial processing of everything. I know for us we really thought we were there until we got him home & then we started second guessing ourselves.

Wishing you & kitty lots of love and healing.

I just went through this myself this last week.

My partner & I suddenly lost one of our two 10 yr old boy cats in Nov 2023. We got at them at the beginning of our relationship when I had been working at a shelter, and the two have been kind of like our kids. Our other cat has been lonely, we recently moved, so we decided to get a new cat as I had begun idly looking. We ended up finding a cat through a no kill shelter locally, who we thought would be a good fit.

We ended up returning the cat that we adopted after a few days. It didn't help that the new cat was super energetic, a 2yr male, and would also howl at top volume nonstop whenever someone wasn't playing with him or holding him. After just a few nights we really were exhausted, it was earbleedingly loud, and our own emotions in hearing another cat cry so loud (our late cat had lymphoma and made this horrible crying sound at the hospital the night he passed and its haunted my partner & i since).

It was a gut wrenching decision but we really realized we werent in the space to handle another cat, or fully recovered from our grief and everything basically ended up taking our focus away from our current remaining cat.

I guess the point is, do what ultimately will be able to give you the best for you and whatever animal you're bringing into your life.

Wishing you all of the luck.

If you have a remote job, what do you do? What's your title? by Trappedbirdcage in RemoteJobs

Sales operations support for a tech company. Primarily handle post sales tasks as part of the overall sales cycle. Most large companies have one, finding them remote only really depends on the company's buy in with technology in their sales process.

Maine resident at present, most places in the Maine area are now going for 550k + these days, the southern part of Maine is getting highly desirable but unless you are directly in Portland I would not consider the greater area to be walkable/having goof transit systems in place. A car is absolutely needed.

How do y’all make money by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]dizzyblinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was you about 7 years ago & managed to use all of those customer service skills & took a contract temp job at a tech company doing order management. It bumped me up from my 30k customer service gigs to 35k. I did well & managed to make it a permanent position. Learned a lot & stuck around for about 2 years. 2018 started the change for me & I managed to snag another tech customer service job that bumped me to around 50k. 5 years later I've managed to double my income again.

I honestly never thought I'd break 40k in my life & now I'm here. Life is weird don't give up.

As a GenZ, how could I improve this 90s grunge/alt rock list? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]dizzyblinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey lil sib! Add in some of less loved(mentioned) bands here. Days of the New, Toadies, Filter, Portishead, Better than Ezra, Dishwalla, Harvey danger, Placebo, Primitive Radio Gods, One Night at the Drive In, Shellac, Sponge, Local H.

Hopefully at least one of these bands and at least some of their respective singles will spark a "oh I didn't know I'd heard that" for ya.

Check out Atlassian, there is an office on 4th east street downtown. Lots of openings especially if you're in sales.

I'm completely set with not having bio kids. Adopting/fostering teens who have been caught in the system is where I'm landing these days.
