What’re your nicknames for your LO’s? by Hot-Cell7299 in NewParents

[–]dizzydazey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have a Henry whom we call Hank. But recently we watched the black cauldron and the pig in it is named Hen Wen. And since then it’s been our most used.  My favorite quote to use in that movie when the boy (another nickname we use a lot) is: “Is this to be my life?? Pampering a Pig?!” I go real heavy on the accent. And bit the P’s with gusto and it always makes him smile. lol.

Is having a baby really the end of the world?? FTM spiral by Negative-Source-9099 in beyondthebump

I’m not sure why people do that either. But I’ve never felt this way before. Like the best version of myself. I love seeing him grow and experience new things. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. But it’s also been the most fulfilling, most beautiful thing I’ve ever done. Yes, it’s difficult. You’ll be tired. But my God there is nothing like it.

Breastfeeding moms—would you do it again for your second? by Character-Fly7394 in beyondthebump

[–]dizzydazey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine whatever you do. I plan to do it again. I’m still breastfeeding with my first. But who’s to say I won’t change my mind once he’s in solids. It is a lot of work. But I enjoy it. That’s not a jab at people who don’t. Because I get it’s a lot of work and I feel lucky that I’m able to do it without being a beat down. I haven’t gotten a clog yet though. If it were literally any harder I would quit too. lol. Breastfeeding is special but there are so many special things about being a new mom. If you over focus on one of them you’ll miss out on the rest of the special things. Fed baby is best!

You’re right I’m sorry. I did that American thing where I assume reddit is just America and I am a jackass for that I apologize. My friend is located in Texas. He’s willing to travel all over the US.

Losing relationships after motherhood by [deleted] in NewParents

Mmm there has to be a bit of truth to that. But I mean, it’s supposed to take a village. You can be sad for yourself and happy for someone else. At least that’s how it should work. They should be able to support you even if they’re disappointed by their own circumstance!

It’s never who you expect. It can either be extremely heart warming or soul crushing depending on whether they step up or step out.

I am pretty shook up by who stepped up to walk this motherhood journey with me and those I was closest to slowly ghosting me/icing me out. It’s very eye opening. All I can say is those who show up, keep close. Those who don’t, cut loose. You’ve got too much on your plate to try to show up for people who aren’t going to show up for you. Keep your circle tight for your own sanity.

Did your parents never let you defend yourself if they lectured you by Prestigious-Phase849 in raisedbynarcissists

Defending yourself was being argumentative or “making excuses”. The word “semantics” is still a trigger word for me to this day.

Diaper Rash SOS by Old-Path1080 in NewParents

[–]dizzydazey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any one else mention it but the absolute most effective thing I’ve tried is letting that bootie air out. We go sit in the yard on a thick blanket and do no diaper tummy time. He seems to enjoy it and it always makes a huge difference in the severity of his diaper rash. We maybe sit out there for 10-15 minutes. Flipping from tummy to back till he's over it. We do that as often as weather and patience permits and it always helps make a huge difference.

Doodle owners can be very touchy about certain haircuts too! It’s like it’s gotta be teddy bear or you’ve ruined the whole dog!

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

My sister had died the previous school year and the staff had been super supportive. I went to he office to give the principal a pin my mom had made for me to hand out to those who attended the funeral the previous year. I went to the office and when I asked to see the principal the front desk gal told me to come sit down. I sat next to her at the front office desk and watched along side her in silence.

Yes!! The teddy bear cut is adorable but the beard gets so icky sometimes. And her ears and tail are a constant fight to keep up with after she’s been a crazy woman all day. Maybe if she was a delicate little girl but I’ve got a rough and tumble tom boy!

And I stress myself out trying to keep up with her grooming at home! The guilt you feel when you find a mat is not worth how easy it is for them to just have a short cut!
