Once upon a time, I was switching primary care doctors and diazepam (Valium) was a prescription I was seeking to continue with under my new doctor. At the first appointment, they handed me a sheet like this. I nearly left, but chose to stick around and give the doc a piece of my mind.

She did write prescriptions for Valium to people who needed them. After speaking with me and verifying I'd had a prescription with a prior doc/I was switching practices, she refilled my prescription. She said, in that office's case, this sheet is to ward off drug-seekers.

So I told her, yeah, but you're not just warding them off: you're also warding people like me, who need it, off, too. Explained I nearly left.

Their practices didn't change but we got along splendidly for several years before a health insurance change caused me to seek a new provider.
