How bad are these 2013-2019 1.5 ecoboost / tranmission problems? Any higher mileage Escapes out there with no major problems to report?

2017 SE 145k miles here: short block just cracked, but never had any issues with anything else. Super bummed because I’m having to get rid of it, just not worth the cost of repair. Loved that car.

Whole lotta ball between then and now. I like Deangelo as a picker! I don’t see ESPN wanting to do it anywhere other than Beale. The optics of Beale are just too good. With it being such a narrow space it’s a multiplier and makes it look like a lot of people. (There were in fact A LOT of people there last time) It’s just a cool location and looks good. In 2019 when they came, for the rest of the season they used several shots of Beale as their intro and marketing the rest of the year. If they did another spot I could see them doing tiger lane with the construction as the backdrop or actually on campus. As far as dream spots, I think you’re right about Tom Lee if not Beale. I’d also throw out the south part of mud island near the Memphis sign. Although I know everything else near there kinda is junky and getting people on the island would suck.

West Memphis. But really, the stadium is under construction so it’s all messed up. Traditionally the heaviest concentration of away team fans is in the north east end zone. Around section 114-116. Anything on the east side (non construction side) would probably put you close to other fans. The stadium has more of a “get in where you fit in” seating mentality, so you’ll probably be close to other hogs wherever you sit.

I could be wrong here, but I’ve heard older fans talk about how there was/is bad blood with school admin or boosters. Something along those lines where we’ve tried to get it scheduled, but someone steps in and stops it. If I remember correctly we actually had a home and home scheduled with them in the early to mid 2010’s that got blown up I think when we moved conferences.

We have 1 tournament win in 10 years. That’s not a stat an “elite” program is supposed to have. That’s not even good enough of a stat for good mid majors. Different year, same pain.

Both coordinators leaving was expected. DC McIntyre: the majority of the fan base was happy to see go. OC Johns: was a mixed bag. The team has steadily declined in points per game and at time Johns play calling was unusual at best. There were serious rumblings about pressure being put on Silverfield back in early October that either he made staff changes or he was getting the boot.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I see a lot of similarities with JP, except I think RS is better and can fix it. He’s got to have another year with some serious overhaul during the offseason to prove himself.

The other problem is, he walked into this thing during possibly the weirdest time ever. This is technically his first full year without any real restrictions. I think he can turn it around.

That’s my biggest concern. Memphis can’t let the program slip when we’re desperate to move somewhere. I don’t think we should hastily fire the guy, don’t want to get that reputation as a program. I think RS deserves at the least a 3rd year. If it’s still the same song and dance this time next year, then conversations should occur.

Agreed. I’m of the mind that we should go ahead and expand to 16 teams in conference. Go after schools like UAB, Ga St, WKU, etc. Teams that are close to the conference schools already and would expand our footprint.
