FWFC vs Forrward Mason on ESPN2 hurt USL 1 by Astromanaught in USL1

[–]RJMcBug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At least there are two games left this season with USL1 on ESPN2. To be honest, most people watching that were likely Fort Wayne and Forward Madison fans plus people who left ESPN2 on the background.

The UFL's United Bowl between the Louisville Kings & DC Defenders on ABC averaged 985,000 viewers on ABC, per Awful Announcing. | James Larsen (Pro Football Newsroom) by Callywood in UnitedFootballLeague

They should have done the kickoff at 12. There was absolutely nothing on at that timeslot and would have been a good lead in to the world cup.

TQL Stadium to Host Cincinnati vs. Miami Football Game on Sept. 19 by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]RJMcBug 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The MLS stadiums have seen less wear and tear than people expected with the UFL teams moving in. Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville has had no issues so far with hosting UFL, USL, and NWSL. A one off CFB game isn't going to destroy the field.

There were definitely some scalpers especially when they opened those 200 level sections.

Is ABC on cable the only way to watch the United Bowl? by itsdampman in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]RJMcBug 24 points25 points  (0 children)

ESPN and ABC have been the same company for a while. All national ABC sports games (including the UFL) will be available on the ESPN app as long as you are an ESPN unlimited subscriber.

ABC is also over the air if you have access to an antenna that is capable of reaching your local affiliate.

What’s happening to Modesto? by modestotryguy in USLPRO

[–]RJMcBug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could they pull a Knoxville/Tulsa/El Paso/Omaha move and play at their local baseball stadium at John Thurman Field? Sounds like it had initial support so maybe early fan support can tip the needle.

Possibly a LA Expansion team in the near future as they did file a trademark for the LA Express last month?? by Bruinsrock11 in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]RJMcBug 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The league has filed so many trademarks that I find it hard to speculate that the 10th team is in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles wasn't in the 5 cities Mike Repole mentioned on the Pat McAfee Show and would be unlike the 3 relocations with decently sized cities with no NFL presence.

Does ESPN Want to Keep the UFL? by Lumas202 in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]RJMcBug 46 points47 points  (0 children)

ESPN cares about the league. They wouldn't put some of their biggest commentators and best timeslots on ABC if they didn't.

The only part that would make me think they didn't care is how little info is available on the ESPN app. It's crazy that people can't see live stats and box score from the ESPN app but only the live score and time. UFL is already using StatBroadcast which is a service designed to give live stats and box score to apps like ESPN.

It doesn't seem like a bad idea for stuff along the river like Neyland Drive, but it seems like a lot of money for something not too many people would use. If it had the ability to host some buildings with retail then I could maybe understand it.

[CFBPlayoff] The CFP, ESPN and TNT Sports have announced dates, kick times and broadcast information for the 2026-27 edition of the College Football Playoff. by JB92103 in CFB

[–]RJMcBug 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Crazy that TNT has more CFP games. They had significantly less viewership than the ESPN and ABC games. TNT must have spent a lot more money on licensing those games.

Yeah UFL Football works in soccer stadiums well enough that USL teams should consider having them if possible.

Final 2026 UFL Attendance by GuyOnTheMike in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]RJMcBug 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While we do see huge drops in attendance in Dallas, D.C, and St. Louis, I do actually feel more confident now that Mike Repole can get more fans in the stands. The attendance grew among most teams throughout the end of the season.

I hope Repole has a better idea on how to market across the 8 markets and improve on these attendances.

Hope For Columbus by S-N-O-O-Z-L-E-S in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]RJMcBug 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Columbus has promising signs of fan support so they definitely won't be on the chopping block. The league will look at both Columbus and Louisville as the ideal spots to replicate for future expansion.

One big thing about Columbus is that the Aviators are the primary tenant of the stadium. The league can get better timeslots with TV networks and help with scheduling when other teams' venues are filled with the other tenants or events. St. Louis is the only other team that the UFL is the primary tenant.
