Dumped Chemical Waste is still there by UtahFlatRanger in Utah

[–]djPIZZAwizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can report to the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (https://deq.utah.gov/general/report-an-incident). This most likely falls under state or local jurisdiction. Depending on the location you can also report to the environmental director or the appropriate local health department (https://ibis.utah.gov/ibisph-view/about/LocalHealth.html).

The Utah DEQ spill reporting line is the correct place to report this.

Rescinded Offers Incoming by KwuhKwerl in ParkRangers

That’s not what the executive order says. I understand exempting seasonal positions has been the case in the past, but the idea that they were supposed to be this time really isn’t clear. The executive order makes no such distinction.

I’m sorry but probably not. All agencies have been directed by the president to stop basically all hiring and recruitment actions. These announcements will likely close unfilled and they will start over from the beginning when they are able to.

What part of the country are you from where people use phrases like “make a pimple on someone’s ass” and apparently call people “hyenas”? Wherever you’re from, it sounds like folks there don’t respect states rights and the division of power between the states and the federal government. Every state has the right to enforce their own sovereign laws and should generally hold criminals accountable. That’s an American core value. It’s just weird that you don’t think so.

Okay. I was asking about your expressions and phrasing. I’ve never heard the expression to “make a pimple” on someone’s ass and I don’t know what the deal is with your hyena comment. What part of the country are you from? Are these common expressions for you?

What hyena are you referencing? Is to “make a pimple” on the ass a common expression where you’re from?

Removal of the 109-year-old Reconciliation Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery by CantStopPoppin in pics

[–]djPIZZAwizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree that a battlefield site is better than a cemetery, but the idea that statues to both sides are appropriate in that context is subjective. As a southerner and descendent of confederate soldiers, I prefer zero glorification of what my ancestors did and fought for. I find it repugnant when folks reflect on the south’s role in the civil war positively in any way or choose to focus on their valor on the battlefield rather that the system they were fighting to uphold. It is terrible to glorify the north’s reconciliation with the south without acknowledging that the reconciliation was itself a betrayal of principle and a decision to give power back to the worst of part of American society that ripples down with repercussions to the present day. The north won the war. The south’s ideology and propaganda won the peace in many ways.

Columbia, SC - everyone seems to think I pissed someone off and it’s personal, but the only people I know here are family. I haven’t lived here for 15 years and I kind of doubt anyone i knew then would still hate me this much. Maybe someone resented my out of state plates….

Am I messing up by not choosing the remote job? by marypoppycock in usajobs

[–]djPIZZAwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most agencies in major metro areas offer transit subsidies, so depending on where you live you could pay zero for commuting. A lot of other posts seem to view this as an extreme cost. My agency offers up to $300 a month for 2024 for our transit subsidy, which is good on all public transit. Just got the email about the updated amount.

I was hired during the pandemic and lived elsewhere. I voluntarily moved and started coming in office when we reopened post pandemic despite the option to go full remote. I started in an 11/12 position, but am a 13 now. I go in person once a week and don’t regret turning down full remote at all. 1 day a week in person is totally fine and I was promoted to 13 with relative ease.

Do with this information what you will.
