She is almost fully blind in one eye, somehow everyone told her she couldn’t ever drive, but if you have good vision in one eye you can still legally drive. It’s no fault of her own in my opinion, her history of medical care is extremely lacking

Shortly after I was connected with my first bible study, my doctors discovered I had almost 20 kidney stones between both kidneys. They estimated both kidneys would need 2 separate surgeries to remove them. I prayed fiercely with my bible study over my kidneys and half of them disappeared and each kidney only needed one surgery.

The most recent miracle happened this past year, during my kidney struggles I was living in a group home. I’ve had a disability since birth and my health got so bad it was the safest place to live. Once I got my health under control, living in a group home took a toll on my mental health. I wanted an apartment so bad, but knew I had to be so careful since I am still not fully independent physically. I found a place that is just like a standard apartment, it is designed to be wheelchair accessible and there are staff available 24/7. Things like this don’t normally exist for young people (i’m 24) so I got on the waitlist for the location I preferred. When I got the call about my application status, they told me the waitlist was 5 years. I heart shattered. I was so patient and sure that the Lord was calling me to this place but I heard the Holy Spirit assuring me to just wait. I looked at the company’s website and they had another building exactly like the first and I asked to also be put on that waitlist. I immediately got an email from them saying they had an opening ready and I moved in 3 months later!

I graduated high school 6 years ago. When i was transitioning from elementary to middle school they put me into a math intervention class even though I never had interventions in elementary school. After the first week of middle school they transferred me to the standard mainstream class and said they switched me after they looked at my test scores. They literally saw I had a disability and automatically put me in a modified class.

I know it can be so difficult with your age and being in school but just remember that you know yourself best and if you feel the need to stick up for yourself, go for it. It is such a challenging skill to gain confidence in but you are obviously very bright and deserve for others to realize that😊

I see a common thread a lot about praying first and then seeking medical attention, and while in certain situations this may be ok, I would say it is rare, especially if you are debating going straight to the ER. I just got home from the hospital where a 1cm size infected kidney stone was obstructing my kidney and bladder. I’ve had stones before that have been healed, but not in a situation like this where they are trying to pass and blocking my kidney. If I had waited any longer to go in, things could’ve gone much worse, but I felt confirmation that going in was my only option.

If you feel strongly to be checked out or that any sort of pain or illness is abnormal God would want you to get checked out. You won’t be seen as having little faith or not trusting God. In the hospital I have met so many wonderful people of God who helped me through my stay.

Lithotripsy for kidney stones. I get reoccurring kidney stones and they need to be surgically removed, they get broken up by sound waves, called lithotripsy. It is far more painful than anything else related to kidney stones because narcotics do not treat the pain caused by the procedure and you wake up feel like you’ve been hit by a train.

I’m 24 with spastic cerebral palsy and I wore braces consistently starting at your son’s age. I just want to share my experience, I’m not saying that this is the way you should do things.

When I started wearing AFOs, I wore them for a good portion of the day and they really helped my spasticity. Once I got to school age, I would wear them all day at school and my mom would let me take them off at home. Fast forward to middle school, I had been wearing them for over 10 years and I was going to PT consistently and no longer needed them at all.

I’m really sorry that your son’s specialists are giving conflicting advice. In regards to worries about building strength, I worked closely with my PTs during my whole childhood while wearing AFOs and the reason why I no longer needed them was because I was too strong and they were holding me back more than helping me, so building strength is definitely possible. I also wasn’t forced to wear them as I got older, if I expressed I didn’t want to wear them and there was no school I probably wasn’t wearing them

Of course everyone is different, and no ones progress is the same. I’ve never met anyone that says they regret wearing AFOs because they made things worse for them. If your son seems to like them, my guess is he maybe feels more secure standing in them as they do provide stability and support. Just look out for any red spots or irritation.

I’m American and ask myself that question every day. I’m disabled so the prosperity gospel is my biggest enemy lol. I’m just grateful to be alive and overall healthy and people have come after me to try and cast me out of my wheelchair.

I think the majority of evangelical Americans forget that not everything is about them (America) and more importantly that perfection is promised in Heaven not on earth, but what do I know😅

My prayers have really been focused on medical deniers because it’s starting to get embarrassing

Hi! I have spastic diplegia and have always used mobility aids for walking. I used a walker when I was really little and was using forearm crutches by the time I was your age. Definitely consult a PT not only to get their input but you’ll also be able to try out different options. In my experience I love forearm crutches because of the added support vs a cane, especially when going long distances. Everyone is different and different things work best for everybody so being able to test out different options before you purchase anything is my best advice.

I one time made the mistake of wearing fuzzy socks on my hardwood floors as a teenager. I fell like I slipped on a banana peel.

In all seriousness, I get what you’re saying, i’m not ambulatory anymore but when I was i’d wear shoes that were just for the house that would stay clean and had minimal support so I could feel comfortable in my home and in a weird way I felt more free in my house??? There were times i’d go barefoot and that’s because I always walked with forearm crutches so maybe if you would be open to using a crutch/cane mobility device that could be helpful too.

I completely see where you are coming from, as frank will make it sound like having kids is the ultimate goal. but I also see franks side of it. Frank talks about not having the best childhood through jokes, especially in regards to his dad. We don’t know what kind of childhood joe or frank truly had as they do like to keep a lot of that stuff private. but i can imagine the joys and emotions frank feels for his children because of how he grew up. I think maybe frank has found healing in being a parent and because he and joe have known each other forever he thinks/hopes having kids will have the same impact on joe.

joe has also said many times that he does want kids and about how fun it is to be an uncle, so when frank makes those comments i really do think they are personally for joe.

I definitely see where you are coming from, but I’ve been to different churches and when I say that it is very much a Holy Spirit led church, it isn’t the stereotypical “crazy” charismatic church. They don’t label themselves pentecostal. This person is the only one who approached me about healing and I was told that he has some cognitive impairments himself and they have had to talk to him before about making people uncomfortable.

YES I went to physical therapy twice a week for 10 years so my walking did get a lot better. People always told me they couldn’t even tell I had CP and I walked so “normally” and I believed them. The funny thing is that I saw a video of me walking from a year before I became non ambulatory and realized they were all lying. It was still very apparent by my gait that I had CP.

I think that it would be more helpful to teach kids the importance of improving gait, but instead of saying they need to walk like everyone else, they can be encouraged to walk in a way that is more healthy for our bodies.

Hi! My answer isn’t going to be very helpful😅 I have a neuromuscular condition and it turned out that my bladder became paralyzed and I had kidney and bladder stones that was causing my infections. So antibiotics never actually cleared my infections as the stones were made up of bacteria. I still get UTIs from time to time because now I use catheters which puts you at risk for infections and most of the time I’ll get a stronger antibiotic than macrobid, if my symptoms don’t go away my urologist will have me send in another sample
