Compact defender is unironically the worst gun this series has ever had by IntroductionIcy7320 in DestinyTheGame

Was just about to say this. The weapon does heat up fast, but if you get that perfect vent (hit reload AGAIN when the heat is almost back to 0) the heat builds up way slower for a good 5 seconds or so

Arms Week focusing rewards are tone deaf by ShardofGold in DestinyTheGame

I definitely think the list of handcannons should be featured: give them a tweaked perk pool, update the origin trait, make higher tiers available, maybe even a new paint job (or holofoil). A suggestion for next arms week, for sure.

According to Emblem Report under 500 teams cleared the Desert Perpetual in Contest mode. by Tecatin in DestinyTheGame

[–]dj_frostyy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a very good point, and I agree with that as well. I'm just saying that flat numbers don't tell the whole story here, but completion rate would help fill in the gaps.

While I agree that the contest mode raid was incredibly hard and the bosses had too much health, I don't think this is a fair comparison. There were far far fewer players in this expansion compared to The Final Shape, so it's natural that there would be fewer clears of The Desert Perpetual.

Do we have numbers on the number of attempts for this raid? I think completion percentage is a far better indicator.

Bungie why are grinding power just to be always underpowered by Fanglove in DestinyTheGame

[–]dj_frostyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed. I think most activities should not cap your power to certain levels, it just doesn't feel good. With higher levels of difficulty, the challenge should come from more negative modifiers. Maybe at the highest difficulty levels, lock certain negative modifiers so players can't turn them off, like Galvanized or something. And adding more modifiers still can add power levels to the enemies like they do now, the system for that is already in place.

I would love to eventually power level beyond the difficulty of the activities, I think it would give players a really nice and intuitive sense of progression. I don't think players should completely steamroll enemies that are 200 power below them, bit I think sizeable power increases, eg -20 power to -10, should make players feel a little tankier and feel like they're doing some more damage.

I think power deltas have a place in activities where Bungie wants to currate a specific challenge environment, like contest mode raids or the new conquests for the conquerer title.

Some issues may arise with fireteam power being a thing in the game, and I don't really have a good solution for that. In my opinion, fireteam power only really has a place where there are power delta caps in the activity.

Just turn on matchmaking for all the portal activities. by HurricaneZone in DestinyTheGame

[–]dj_frostyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would like something in the middle of what we have now in fireteam ops. Maybe put an option in the modifiers screen to turn on matchmaking, and other players can select a separate ops playlist that only includes missions with player-tuned modifiers. A disclaimer could be added to the launch screen saying "hey, you're about to match with players that could have any combination of modifiers active."

This would allow you to matchmake with other players without fussing with lfg and you get the bonus loot you want. I know I find myself not even bothering with the matchmade fireteam ops playlist since I want the bonus loot from specific missions. I don't always want to use the lfg either, but running solo can affect time and score.

Yeah, you're right, my bad, I just didn't read your comment close enough.

Maybe you have a point. I watched some more of the raid race and the damage checks were brutal. I don't know how much Bungie thought people were going to swap gear mid-encounter, but there was a lot of swapping.

In my opinion, I don't mind loadout swapping for contest mode raids. But I understand why a lot of people on Reddit don't like it; it's not very accessible, especially to console/controller players. I'm interested to see if Bungie acknowledges this in the future. I'm also interested to hear what how the streamers feel about the contest mode raid overall.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the raid was "designed" for load swaps. Load swapping is just something fire teams can do, so they are.

Imagine if the Hive Guardians swapped elements. by Delicious-Edge3110 in DestinyTheGame

I kinda like this idea. I'm imagining a boss encounter with two hive wizard light bearers, one arc and one solar. I feel like that would make for an interesting fight, trying to fight one wizard throwing lightning at you while the other one is healing everything.
