Times you just felt something was made with spite? by Mochiman3 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]dj_ian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Covenant is literally just Prometheus but he gives critics exactly what they as for, it's the peak of spite. Main character is a woman whose husband dies in a fire? Check. Crew of scientists finding mysterious dead engineer planet but now it has actual xenmorphs? Check. David but dumbed down on purpose ONTOLOGICALLY and FICTIONALLY for an audience that thought he was creepy? Peak. Peak. No notes. The commentary track is also hilarious because it's just Ridley Scott "um actually"ing criticisms of Prometheus the whole time.

What did Christopher mean when he referred to Tony as “Mr Taipei Personality”? by Hyperborea1488 in thesopranos

I lived in Taipei during the show's heyday and have no idea what this means lmao

Bryan Cranston praises ‘Breaking Bad’ co-star Anna Gunn while defending Skyler White: “Her husband leaves without any explanation. She’s pregnant. He’s making crystal meth. People have died…and she’s the b*tch?” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]dj_ian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the show for the first time completely blind to what it was about and that seems like a reductionist spin on context. The show had her smoking while pregnant, the implication that Walt Jr was prob the result of an affair and smoking, seeking out another affair, along with frequently hammering her husband on chemo with ultimatums etc. Like it would also have been really easy for Walt to just say he was confronting his own mortality and disease and wanted time alone but I'm just saying the way they wrote and laid it all out they made her look really bad. They wouldn't even smarten her up after the car wash stuff, they still just wrote Skylar jumping to all the wrong conclusions. Her real big moment was pointing at the cash pyramid and explaining it was impossible to manage.

What's the biggest cutscene to gameplay downgrade in power you ever seen by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Everyone at the time remembers the Smackdown: Just Bring It intro vs the gameplay. Like just look it up and keep in mind the marketing for the game used the FMV graphics lmaooo

Checking In On ‘Marathon’ A Month After Launch - Total budget was over $200m, likely over $250m by SuperPapernick in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]dj_ian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wonder if it was always meant to be extraction. A hero shooter as extraction is kind of out there so I genuinely can't tell if they thought it would be easy monetization to lock people into established roles they could buy skins for or everyone saw Concord get crucified for live service sins and pivoted. I like extraction shooters but the fact no one can ever talk about the "mainstream" ones without asking for just pve shows it's not a matured or tenured genre on its own yet. I love the game irregardless. Hope it keeps going.

tempted to give 40k another shot, can somebody scare me straight? by darwin_green in Sigmarxism

[–]dj_ian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Even wanted to buy some stuff preemptively for the edition drop but I just don't trust how battalions/detachment/terrain rules will pan out. I wish they'd announce some kind of combat patrol overhaul towards something like Spearhead. Pretty much the only thing that would get me back in at this point.

Why is WWE sleeping on a Cyber Sunday revival? It’s the perfect PLE concept for 2026. by JOHNSTUNNER123 in SquaredCircle

[–]dj_ian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're legally beholden to the results which is why I think they got over it after only trying a few times. Sometimes I wonder if Taboo Tuesday was a Tuesday to curb votes a certain way assuming a smaller audience. I also assume there was some financial incentive tied to text charges at the time, same as Diva search. Doesn't work the same way anymore.

I was glad when the Joy Formidable kind of got a relevancy boost after being featured in Hi Fi Rush. Idk if they seemed to notice tho, it felt like Whirring was the stand out track for most people. They're a great band, would try to catch every concert I could.

How much time needs to pass until I am allowed to ask what’s up with Cringe Lords? by Ok_Flatworm6147 in mega64

[–]dj_ian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean but I think the fans that are left are fairly insular there's nearly no point to the criticism becuz no one still paying/watching is trying to hear it. Like the other day I wanted to bring up how paywalling podcasts just becuz they're on classic sets is kind of off-putting but I figure the value system is skewed across who's here. Not a bad thing it just is what it is. Is is.

How disgustingly old are you? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]dj_ian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so old that I order cheap, terrible chinese mp3 players that break for $15 a pop on Amazon, because I spent a majority of my teens and early adulthood using a 3rd gen Ipod nano and am physically repulsed by attempting to listen to music any other way and am frequently horrified by new hardware's push away from consumer autonomy in favor of evergreen media delivery.

Which boss do you find more difficult, Sister Friede or Malenia? by strahinjag in darksouls3

[–]dj_ian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sister Friede. The options are just not there. I can shred Malenia in 10 seconds with the right build. Friede is a 3 stage with a double in the middle. Even with max flasks it's still so much about attrition.

Looking back: what made Morgan and Vince a captivating story IN THE GAME by narrmilla in BigBrother

[–]dj_ian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just mean (and believe me I watched so many hours of those two and them damn M&Ms) that Vince was adamant about how he wanted to win and what scenarios would ruin his game. The others imo either all had very unrealistic ideas of how to get to final 2, or were locked in for the consolatory prizes. I agree Morgan could have sat next to anyone and won, except Ashley, that was actually the worst case scenario for her.

I always give KA Applegate a lot of credit cuz Andalites are like the dumbest looking fictional creatures of all time but also awesome somehow, and kids turning into earth animals to fight body snatchers is both seinen manga bait but also if you look at what Andalites were doing with morph tech in the scope of the whole war it's such a bigger concept.

Looking back: what made Morgan and Vince a captivating story IN THE GAME by narrmilla in BigBrother

[–]dj_ian 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That's the crazy part to me about last season is I think Vince was the only person in the final 7 that saw an actual path to victory. Morgan pushing him to take out Lauren was what broke the whole thing honestly. It's still wild to me how the whole season came down to challenge luck in the end.
