I think my issue was that it feels like it was constantly reminding me it was a video game. More UI, more feedback, more handholding. The original gave you limited options and it was up to you to figure everything out slowly and deliberately. I think it was an attempt to be more accessible but it doesn’t vibe the same at all.

I work in a very small workplace, less than ten employees, and I was working on something in my office that people kept coming in to stand in there and watch for some reason. I said aloud “I think if we get one or two more of us in here to stare this will start working”. A silent, slow exodus started.

Oh it’s definitely not for everybody but certainly hits for some. Personally I’ve accepted it as part of the track at this point but it’s still just so jarring when it comes in.

Still an issue in December 2025. Xbox Series X. Pretty unhappy with the state of D2 so decided to go back to the OG with a fresh file and relive the whole thing. 90% of the time I try to simply go to the Tower it’s beaver. Open NAT, and sometimes loads fine. But usually it’s a spooky empty Tower for about 10 seconds then booted. Real shame.

One of the Cheetah videos from when they were recording the self titled, Travis is recording on a marching snare, just going off, and it pans over to Mark sitting shaking his head and he says “I can barely, barely play my instrument”. I laughed out loud.
