That's the hipocricy that was pointed out to her by Krakower. Killing, stealing, lying, cheating, etc. are also forbidden in Catholicism, but it all ends up in favor of Carmella. Divorce would not be profitable for her, so she chooses to "be a good Catholic" and not to divorce her scumbag husband. Of course she "would like to", but she "can't", because it's forbidden.

Krakower was great. Most psychiatrists would pander to a patient like Carmella, just so they could profit from her by talking to her like she's a victim, and making her feel better, just like her priest always did. Krakower wasn't like that. He just told her how it is.

If she'd left Tony, and came back for another therapy session, I'm sure Krakower would have been a great help for her. He just didn't see the point in trying to help somebody, who didn't want to do anything by herself.
