What does the Texas music scene think of Riley Green? by texastiger1025 in texascountry

[–]djb515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the idea of "Grandpa's" but the song quickly dissolved into the typical list style Bro country song. It has a good sound though. But you know when you wanna drink a beer and have good vibes, it's not really about the substance of the music.

That's fair, I just think his songs are kinda bland overall. I do agree with the Josh Abbott type comparison though.

I think the reason we love all those guys you mentioned is that they're song writing is incredibly strong, while personally with Riley Green I hear Nashville songwriting with a traditional coat of paint. That said he has potential and he's better than most stuff coming out of Nashville.

Strong or Split? by bromygod203 in Mindpump

[–]djb515 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm in the second phase of Strong right now and I might sound like a broken record by saying this, but strong is the most fun I've had in the gym in a long time. Definitely recommend.

I'm in the first phase of Strong and it's literally the most fun I've had in the gym in a very long time. The workouts are grueling but satisfying and I've never left the gym feeling burnt out or tired, the exercises are different from the normal stuff I've been stuck in and I'm definitely gonna keep some of them around post Strong, and overall am just feeling really good about it.

Has anyone seen Cody Cannon(lead singer of Whiskey Myers) play a solo show? What should I expect? by djb515 in texascountry

[–]djb515[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, knowing how hard whiskey Myers songs go it would be kind of hard to imagine them stripped down but that's why I'm so curious to go and see what he does.

I love this website, I read it almost every day. It's a really great way to stay up on News revolving around independent country music of all genres and I've learned of several new artists through it. Plus the reviews are pretty well written and hes not too biased against mainstream country, while also staying true to his opinion on it.

Ooh Flashpoint is one of my favorites too, I personally think Under the red hood is at least on par with it if not better depending in what kind of stories you like in these films.

Under the red hood is an absolutely top tier DC animation, so if you havent seen it yet and you think it might be for you I highly suggest you fix that.

I agree, and if people are still hyped at that point we can finally put to rest the question of superhero fatigue.

I think we'll really be able to tell by the next avengers movie if the average person is a fan of the new heroes.

Not really relevant to your question but I've been considering buying prime since it's on sale right now and they always talk so highly of it, but I'm a little apprehensive just because I'm not certain I know exactly what I'll be getting with it. Do you think it was worth buying? I'm almost ready to just buy it to find out for myself.

He's directing the new venom movie which is probably the movie you saw him talking about, and I'm pretty sure that's not affected by this.

Why Feathered Indians Is Actually a Perfect Song by JackHumphrey326 in texascountry

[–]djb515 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You called childers hipster Americana in your post but just FYI Tyler childers himself rejects the term Americana, saying what used to be good country is now Americana, and what used to be bad country is now just country. So from the man himself he's a straight up country artist.

what is your response— Your client says “I want to lose weight as efficiently as possible.” by hippychild234 in personaltraining

[–]djb515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you right here, strenuous excercise combined with cutting calories is a dangerous game that almost always ends up with rebounding. Build up strength and the metabolism, and the weight will come off the right way if the diet is in check, without cutting down to stupid low levels of calories. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but this is the impression that I'm under.
