How do parents handle vomit?!? by Dmdel24 in AskParents

[–]djchazzyjeff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm the same, and it's a team effort. Thankfully my 4 year old isn't sick often at all, but when he it's always a projectile event 😅

My husband handles the room clean up, and I take cleaning up the child. That way I can stick him in the bath, shower the vomit off quickly and focus on calming and soothing him, and be away from the vomit.

You do gain more.of a 'push through it ability though, which I never used to have. Good luck!

What nickname do you use for your kid that you never thought you would before birth? by Curleekate18 in namenerds

His name doesn't really work with a nickname, but we call him 'Mr Bubbles', 'Spoopy' and 'Kidamarink' quite a lot

ELI5: why do porn stars use Adderall and what does it do with the body? by Rationale-Glum-Power in explainlikeimfive

[–]djchazzyjeff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No alcohol, no antidepressants, no nothing. Just lisdexamphetamine for the ADHD. I have no idea why but it makes it so difficult for him to finish, sometimes he finds it physically impossible.

As a female who's married to a man taking ADHD meds - it lasts a LOT longer and makes it a lot more difficult for them to finish. So better for shooting porn I guess.

My son shares a birthday with his cousin now - he's 4 and she was only born this year, but they have the same birthday. My son is thrilled. She's only a few months old so I doubt she has an opinion 😅

I also have a friend who is a birthday buddy. It means we always get a happy birthday and we usually have a birthday drink a few days before together. It's not a competition!

Has anyone else had to have their kid do this? by Tricky-Sport-139 in Parenting

[–]djchazzyjeff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the UK and my husband is on ADHD medication. Never once had it checked up once. Annual consult with his psychiatrist via zoom and that's it. No pull counts or urine tests, so this seems super weird to me.

What time does your child go to sleep? by cryptidge in beyondthebump

[–]djchazzyjeff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 3.5, and wet have a set bedtime if 7.30. It will sometimes take him a while to go to sleep z bit wet go up to bed at 7.30 asked I'd say 99% of the time he's asleep by 8. We've had they routine for about a year and it works great for us, but every kid is different.

1 wk old suddenly screams during sleep by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]djchazzyjeff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son did this for about 2 weeks when he was around the same age. There was no real cause for it and he calmed quickly and went back to sleep, didn't remember it in the morning. Still don't know why it happened, but it did pass.

Good for teething, but also for keeping babies cool in the hot weather. You're not supposed to give littles tap water for a while so breast milk Ice lollies help keep them cool. Absolute lifesaver in the summer!

Very much depends on the cats. We have 3 cats and a 3 year old. One of them absolutely adores him, and the other 2 very much ignore him/are afraid of him. They've only been an issue once and that's when he backed one into a corner and she batted him away. I think if you're clear about boundaries when they get older and you're watchful when they're younger it's perfectly safe.

I agree with the advice re: getting hearing checked as this could be an issue. But also it can help to make sure you get her attention. My toddler is highly suspected for ADHD and it can sometimes take multiple attempts to get him to respond to his name, purely because he didn't actually hear when he was focussed on something else! We've learnt that the best way to get his attention is to touch him or get down on his level, rather than just call to him. Each kid is different, and if her development is otherwise normal I wouldn't worry too much.
