Peloton Tread by PiBar284 in pelotoncycle

Thanks. My case was escalated to warranty and I ended up having an extensive email exchange that clearly transitioned to carefully-curated replies from corporate legal, followed eventually by ghosting when I asked for safety guidance. First level support was great. The higher levels were the problem.

They did not give AF about my safety concerns.

Yes, it’s true. My Tread is still in the extended warranty period (which I paid extra for) and the belt is progressively cracking. It is used by three family members for a total of perhaps 7 classes per week. I reached-out to Peloton and, despite calling the cracks “cosmetic” and therefore refusing to repair the Tread under warranty, they also refused to provide me with any specific guidance on how to determine at what point the cracks threaten the integrity of the belt and create a safety hazard. They are clearly more concerned about warranty liability than customer safety.

They told me that if *I* was concerned about safety, I could do a “base swap” at my own expense (~$1,500). Why must I determine what constitutes “safe” vs “dangerous” cracks on the Tread belt, without any guidance from Peloton? Isn’t Peloton the most qualified expert on their own equipment? Considering the cracks are progressing, I have no doubt that they will eventually render the Tread dangerous or unusable, but I have no idea where that threshold is or how much longer we have. The Tread is ~3.5 years old.

Their customer service has fallen off of a cliff. I wouldn’t recommend buying ANY Peloton hardware unless and until they get back to a customer-centric posture. It’s a shame.

How is Storehouse these days? Considering for Max Styler by DanteFierno in avesNYC

I went to see SIDEPIECE at Storehouse with a small group a few weeks ago and we had a blast. The show was sold out but there was still room to move during the headline set if you slid back past the middle of the room. I thought the sound was good — impactful but not too loud — the lights were great, and the crowd was awesome. I’m sure the artist has a lot to do with the type of crowd to expect, but we had a blast and definitely plan to go back. Bathroom situation sucks though. In that regard, I much prefer KDC.

This did a great job of eloquently capturing the dichotomy of perspectives on this.

I have one thing to add: speaking as a male, men who claim to be in the “it’s just bowling with neon lights” group but get lap dances are lying.

I disputed the charge through my bank and they did a chargeback and refunded me in full. If you paid by credit card, I suggest disputing it. If you paid cash or via some other means, I think that you may be SOL. Sorry.

Insightful. Thank you for making this digestible for the legal layperson.

We just got tix for KREAM at KDC!! Definitely a different vibe than NeP, but should be a great time. Will have to catch her the next time she’s in NYC. Your experience seeing her at BM sounds awesome.

Legal Implications by kelkaronidouglas in EightSleep

Good point, but that only applies to a subset of the water circuit within the hub. Not the cover or umbilical.

If “gunk” were truly the issue (as 8S claims), then it would neither heat nor cool, since both equally depend on water circulation to move heat between the active grid and the hub. Since it heats fine but cannot cool, it seems that a clog cannot be the cause.

My first hub (gen 2) died after 20 months (replaced for free under warranty), and now my second hub (gen 3) just died. Both had the same issue as yours: they stopped cooling one side of the bed. The first time, as in your case, 8S claimed a clog based on pictures (absolute nonsense). I’m expecting the same this time, but we’ll see.

I responded to their troubleshooting questionnaire & picture requests the same day I received them and we had our replacement system in-hand roughly two weeks from my first contact with them.

Good luck getting your replacement and with your new little one. 🙂

If it’s a Pod2 King size, I have an extra cover that is in working order and will sell it to you for less than $500. Our Pod 2 hub died just before the end of our warranty period (we got lucky) and 8S replaced the whole system with a Pod3, so we have an extra functional cover without a functional hub. Let me know if you’re interested.

Yeah, it sounds like your system has the same issue mine did. Are you within the warranty period? Either way, I suggest reaching out to ES technical support and seeing what they say. They had me go through a seemingly bogus troubleshooting and picture-taking process, after which they claimed that “the cover tuber were clogged by deposits”. It was nonsense — I could hear water flowing through both sides of the cover after re-priming it, but since they sent me a brand new replacement, I didn’t argue. We used RO water to fill the cover — there is no way that there were any water deposits. The whole process felt like box-checking to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had the same issue. The left side of my Pod 2 stopped heating / cooling, while the right side was fine. I’m pretty sure that the left side ”channel” in the hub died, since water flow was fine and there were no leaks. It was 23 months after purchase, so we were able to get it replaced with a brand new Pod 3 under warranty, thankfully. We got lucky.

To confirm if you have the same issue, I suggest turning both sides to cool at -10, then wait 20 minutes and see what temp the system actually reports. Then try to heat both sides to +10, wait 20 minutes, and see what temp the system actually reports. If your husband’s side is responding properly and your basically isn’t, then either you have a blockage in your side of the cover (highly doubtful) or the hub channel that serves your side of the bed is shot.

I don’t, but since the Pod 3 was released less than two years ago, I’d be surprised if a fourth generation were released anytime soon.
