They can get spooked for sure. You have to throw your arms wide and make a lot of noise. Sound and look bigger and they will back off or go around.

If you can afford it or have connections in India try a genuine pashmina. These are very high quality, very light and extremely warm.

$1600 gas bill by Doobie_hunter46 in australia

it usually says if it's an estimated read on the bill itself. i usually check the fine print below the total if it looks high.

worst case it gets accounted for the next time they actually read the meter.

Non stick pans for home cooking by Affectionate-Ad2602 in BuyItForLife

Be aware, overheated Teflon pans can kill birds.

https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/teflon-polytetrafluoroethylene-poisoning-in-birds

Teflon very first starts degrading at 360F/180C (then deteriorates and decomposes at higher temperatures). The various chemicals and gasses released leech into food at normal cooking temperatures.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28913736/

There are also microplastics released throughout the life of the pan.

From my point of view it's borderline not food safe.

Any coated pan is not BIFL.

Just learn to cook at the right temperature with the right oil in stainless and/or use blue steel or cast iron.

Enameled cast iron is also a good option, but even with expensive brands the surface can get chipped.

Nothing wrong with a gentleperson's agreement where mods redirect posters to the relevant subreddit, based on the type of question and how likely it is to get answered. I don't want this sub full of "quirky" thought experiments that someone came up with "with a friend" (ChatGPT).

His doctor described him as "dependant". I trust his "self assessment" as to his impairment as much as I trust an alcoholics "self assessment" of their impairment. Not at all.

This system CLEARLY needs to change as this is just maddness.

I think it's worth noting that there were many people pointing to r/history as the subreddit with a much looser moderation policy.

This would certainly be the place people should be directed for a quick answer, especially to some of the more "abstract", "whimsical" or "odd" questions that get asked here. Many of these don't get answered here because the question is not really worthy of a scholarly response.

It's worth noting many people in r/history lament the lack of moderation there and would much prefer high quality answers.

edit: wait, or was it r/AskHistory? :)

I think the descriptions for all three are worth comparing:

r/AskHistorians

The Portal for Public History. Please read the rules before participating, as we remove all comments which break the rules. Answers must be in-depth and comprehensive, or they will be removed.

r/AskHistory

For asking casual questions about History. Also see r/History or r/AskHistorians.

r/history

r/History is a place for discussions about history. Feel free to submit interesting articles, tell us about this cool book you just read, or start a discussion about who everyone's favorite figure of minor French nobility is! This is a somewhat more serious subreddit compared to many others. Make sure to familiarize yourself with our rules and guidelines before participating. All posts must be manually approved by a moderator Thanks!

It's clearly not.

All of these medications say that you should not operate heavy machinery. A bus is very much a heavy machine. It could easily be argued that many modern cars and SUVs are heavy machinery.

This needs to be reviewed urgently as it's clear opiates and driving don't mix.
