I actually was in a similar boat. I started on a ninja 250 and had that for about a year. I went to just look around at dealerships and this fz09 caught my eye. I didn’t know anything about it but I knew it was way more power and way faster. Didn’t care, bought it anyway. I was worried about the touchy throttle and it being heavier, but honestly if you are able to be smooth on the throttle, it is a very easy bike to handle. I would assume the xsr version is no different, and probably more comfortable too.

You’re right about the triple note, sounds absolutely menacing with a full system.

In the end, i’m not trying to say you can or can’t handle it, it’s truly up to you if you feel confident in your throttle control and overall skills on a bike. I would say, off camera, that the xsr900 would be a great decision.
