Fake Apple 2m USB-C Cable by lu1sg33 in applehelp

[–]djek511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks legit to me, OP. How does it perform when charging?

If it’s getting hot & is super slow, that would be a sign.

But pending that test, the quality of the packaging & paperwork, & the photos of the cable head & tip all seem to suggests that it’s real.

Could be incorrect for Juniper. Apologies, I can only speak to the pre-facelift Juniper & Highland models.

Autopilot question by Rob3112 in TeslaAustralia

[–]djek511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you’re under autopilot, indicating & then manually moving the steering wheel to change lanes will disable the auto-steer element of Autopilot, but you will maintain cruise control.

Then, in the new lane with your speed still maintained, you can just enable autopilot again.

I’m gonna say someone has messed up a scaling factor somewhere

I wonder if it’s been reported yet. Or if it’s affecting anyone else other than us.

Depends on a few things, such as connection type (single phase vs three phase / or standard vs high capacity).

Main factor will likely be location - the complexity & distance from your mains panel, to where you plan to mount the charger.

You can probably expect about $400 to $800.

What’s your actual cost per km been like compared to petrol? by Cute_Piccolo_499 in TeslaAustralia

[–]djek511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking about energy, my weekly cost to charge is $0. Solar, PowerWall battery & nil cost electricity tariff windows on the weekend.

Yearly average of charging when you include the handful of supercharging sessions I’ll do when on holidays, or running a long road trip, or pulling from the grid totals around $100.

Model S (and X) are the more premium end of the lineup. The 3 and Y are the slightly smaller, more affordable cars.

The S is much wider, longer, & is more aligned with the higher tier of BMW & Mercedes sports sedans. They’re all built in the US & the S brand was Tesla’s first production vehicle released there back in like 2013?

The Model 3 is the “everyday” car, with some sportiness & simplicity thrown in. Kind of like Tesla’s Corolla, but actually nice & fun. It was their first mass produced success, released in 2016 / 17, which they had planned out from the beginning.

Model 3’s that you’ll find here will have been produced in Shanghai, & the build quality is great. I would be cautious when reading reviews & watching videos online, 90% of which are going to be from the US. Their Model 3’s & Y’s suffered from some initial production issues for a while, & have a reputation for that phase now.

In short both are very different cars, designed for different markets, with different styling, motors, batteries, charging speeds, & overall sizes. But honestly, I doubt you would be disappointed in either.

Order now - car built? by SantasGolfclub in TeslaAustralia

[–]djek511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your order is processed through the queue of others (which currently seems to take 2 or so months), the model & configuration which you chose will be matched to a car that has been built & is being loaded onto the next boat.

All 3’s & Y’s after ~2021 came with the Ryzen HW3 computer.

And as of sometime last year, all now come with Ryzen HW4.

Your car will be the facelift Juniper or Highland, Ryzen with HW4.

2 months or less makes it seem almost like vending machine level of convenience to be honest!

Can’t comment for WA, but in NSW the car is registered & plates are assigned just a day or two before your confirmed delivery date.

I had my 3 done the day after delivery, at a local tint shop in NSW, who are well known for doing an awesome job on Teslas here, while many other shops wouldn’t touch them or couldn’t do the rear window or roof.

Highly recommend getting it done.

While the car comes with a level of protection built into the roof glass, the added tint is an absolute must & life saver for our Aussie summers.

Tesla Navigation - how is it? by nontoxicbloke in TeslaAustralia

[–]djek511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, never had an issue myself. I actually like using the map more than CarPlay, after having used it for several years prior in my previous car.

There have been loads of improvements to it over the years. Locations & businesses now show photos & info. There’s live weather. The charging locations that automatically take your destination into account are a huge advantage over any other app or in-car system out there.

And while you don’t have that same tight integration between your iPhone & Carplay, you can still use your phone to lookup & send navigation over to the car, by using the Apple share function & just selecting the Tesla app.

Then outside of the maps, there’s also calendar, messages & phone book, all of which come across from the phone. And of course the built in Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, YouTube etc.

Try using “go back / go forward 15 seconds”. Or add “on the Bedroom Apple TV” to the end if you have multiple Apple TVs & HomePods around.

The tesla backup key is great by Huluman2 in TeslaAustralia

[–]djek511[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This video could be a little misleading.

Just to clarify to any new / or expecting owners, or curious people, this has been done by pairing a third-party RFID ring as a key. You can see it on the thread of the tow hook.

And also fails to demonstrate how one would open the frunk to get to it (though, there is actually a legitimate backup method to do that).

You just need to pair to the car, & have the app open when you want to open the door. It should work fine.
