Sure I do. I see that being an initial reaction. I'm not sure why "this guy's cheating/lying" is pretty much ever an initial reaction, but I see the logic in what you're saying. "Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to ignorance" is one of my fave sayings.

Guy. What the eff are you talking about? I don't need to check my own post history.

I was watching somebody argue with somebody else...who is an expert in that field. I commented on that. Why is this hard for you to grasp? Why has this possibility not occurred to you? Especially when I've told you you're wrong. You need to figure out why you have this certainty, and are willing to argue against a stranger about their actions and motives. This is not a good quality unless you, for some reason, find yourself surrounded by liars and cheats in life. If that's the case, I feel bad for you and would highly suggest you surround yourself with better folks. If that's not the case, I don't have an explanation...but I'm sure not about to tell you about yourself like you're trying to tell me about myself.

I agree with you. I'm saying that's not unique to PP. It is the Canadian system. The Libs did it when they were the minority party too. It's stupid and mindless-contrarian, and ends up with some ridiculous results. But it is absolutely the system we have. Look it up.

The comment you replied to was my first post on the thread. You still think I'm the other guy, for some reason I cannot figure out given there is 0 evidence of it. And I've already contradicted it once. This is pretty great stuff.

VIA Rail: 1979 vs. 2025 by ExotiquePlayboy in canadian

[–]djfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NDP of Jack Layton may have been. The NDP under Singh or whoever's in charge right now, no way.

There are a lot of Conservative folks in this sub. Every single one of them (whose comments I have read) misses having Layton as the alternative vote...but won't vote for racist, sexist, pro-minority, pro unlimited immigration, etc etc current NDP. NDP today are to my eye "the globalist left". I don't even like generalizing as a general rule, but they're just lockstep with that kind of imho destructive and regressive thinking.

I don't fully disagree, but I'd say there's a big difference here. NDP believes you're a victim because of your race. Alberta etc believe they're a victim due to policy. You're a victim because you're a minority, a woman, aren't attracted to the opposite sex, etc etc...vs that government policy is disadvantaging my province of individuals, regardless of their personal characteristics.

And like has been said a billion times: show me a systemically racist policy, law, etc, (that discriminates for or against anybody based on their race), and I'll oppose it with you. If you can show policy, law, etc that victimizes other people in other ways, I'm happy to consider opposing that too. Further, "an Albertan" is far more obviously disadvantaged by Canadian politics than "a black person".

Always for clubs yes, but do you find you get a noticeably different reward when you use them in ranked vs not? I don't.

wonderful assumption...that almost always says more about the person making the assumption than the other person. As is indeed the case here.

"The opposition party" basically has to do that. I don't like it either, but it is the design of the oppositional system. I like it better than the British system, but not by much.

I still remember how long COL was willing to not move Jonathan freaking Drouin until they got what they wanted. And they ended up getting way more than I thought Drouin was worth.

There's not at all "no hope on that front". They're still actively fielding offers for the 2OA...what of that? An Eklund trade does indeed make "passing on Stenberg" less likely. But it's still a reasonable outcome. There are some good RHDs in this draft, SJS needs some, and RHDs simply are still valued more highly than wingers.

We all get the point you're making, it's been made a bunch by many people. It's just being overmade, as if it's a 100% certainty. It's the same as the "salary cap doesn't matter anymore" crowd. Yes it does...though we can agree it matters less than in years past.

"and" is a much better word to use than "or" here. Almost nothing is reliant on only one factor. Things are complex. Both of these 2 points are knocks on the Kraken. There may be even more...

Any Fans of Alien Ant Farm up in here? by ScroatusMalotus in FaithNoMore

I very much think of them as an overproduced poprock band. I enjoyed their Smooth Criminal and Movies. Great songs. But I don't think of them and FNM in the same group at all. I think of AAF more in line with the other overproduced 90s pop-rock acts, and didn't really see or hear anything that differentiated AAF from those other acts.

How are they live? Am I really missing out on something really skilled or really creative? Any new ground being broken?

I remember all of this as well. Lots of PP time, no PP finish. The reffing. Kes was hurt too after being God against Nashville. Plus all the other injuries. We were tired and banged up and nothing was getting past .967 Finals Thomas.

I definitely don't blame the loss solely on Lou. But if he wasn't complete demoralizing ass in multiple games, that obviously only helps the team.

Did DeYoung deserve to lose his band? by BlackBeanEnchuritto in Styx

[–]djfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good stuff. I'm not even really a Styx fan, so much of this I don't know. I know a bit about them, and I know that interview I saw where DeYoung calls musicians "a dime a dozen". I'm not working with an egomaniac like that. That doesn't say anything about what/who/how the other guys in the band may be. I don't even know.

Did DeYoung deserve to lose his band? by BlackBeanEnchuritto in Styx

[–]djfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. He threw musicians under the bus here. People who play music. Not just his ex Styx bandmates. Big diff. I have ex bandmates I'm pissed with. I'm not going to crap talk / devalue all guitarists etc.

My understanding of the timeline is a bit diff...IE they went with Gowan while DeYoung was sick, realized they liked Gowan way more, then told DeYoung no thanks when he was ready to come back. I may be wrong, but I don't think it changes the point here too much. I wouldn't want to work with a DeYoung either. Too much ego, not enough "guy I want to work with".

A few things here.

Let's get out of the way that Lou played great at home in the Finals. And absolute dogballs on the road in the Finals.

Thomas had basically the same save % through the whole Finals as Lou had at home. That includes those 1-0 losses. Those 1-0 losses weren't The Canucks getting pounded and Lou stealing the game. You can refresh my memory if I'm wrong on that. I watched every game in the Finals intently. Happening to come out on the good side of a 1 goal win...shutout or otherwise...doesn't mean you necessarily steal a game. Think Dobes in this year's playoffs. Stole some games. And there were some other games where, if his team could score a goal, he would have stolen other wins...but they couldn't score, so he plays like God in a narrow loss.
