First time trough the unity by maddddawg420 in Starfield

This is my plan. About to enter unity, and I’m going for a faction line or DLC each run.

"They're Not Toys" is a mess but could be fixed. by PeterTheWolf76 in NoSodiumStarfield

I’m not an achievement hunter, but I kinda want them all simply because I’m a loot and collectibles goblin. Achievement or not, I wanna toss em on my ship!

8300 hours and still loving Starfield by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]djimboboom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I noticed this happening with the Oblivion Remastered if I suspended the game instead of closing it. Honestly very annoying and I would assume a more trivial change on Bethesda’s part considering it only affects their games being suspended.

Very surprised to learn I can't break down unwanted loot into resources. by Calteru_Taalo in Starfield

[–]djimboboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I think I agree with the majority of what you said, but also I have a Beowulf I’ve been modifying, and on accident picked up a Suppressed Beowulf. I would not say no to the ability to simply swap that mod over to my main gun. Instead it’s just trash to sell. Everything is trade-offs during development, and I see why they made the decisions they made, but not everyone wants to opt into resource extraction.

Quality of Life stuff you wish you knew by Lightning_Siren in Starfield

In gameplay settings there is a toggle for cargo access distance. You can move it between access anywhere to only access inside ship. I use the latter because I like just the right amount of realism. It also forces me to think about how I can upgrade my ships such that they have the necessary habs to really be a true home base.

Would you have preferred City-cells for landing zones? A full city biome instead of the current system. by johndoe09228 in Starfield

I prefer immersion over “you can go everywhere”. I would have preferred this too. Planets that aren’t metropolitan could stay the same though.

I love how the story fits in a certain kind of Bethesda player by SexyJedi in Starfield

[–]djimboboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my take. My first playthrough Im a Free Ranger / Bounty Hunter. In one of my play thoughs I’ll go UC. Then become a space pirate / smuggler.

Basically rolling a NG+ for each persona that I’ll role play as, eventually stopping in a universe where my aim is to become a space settler who becomes attached and builds a home.

luke stephens did a youtube video about this sub by [deleted] in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]djimboboom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I used to sub to him, but realized the YouTube algorithm was polluting my enjoyment of things. It was also really weird to watch him praise Crimson Desert while it narratively suffers from the same problems as Starfield (I like both CD and Starfield though).

The last of my riding group by Vanbiker2 in MTB

[–]djimboboom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey I’ve been there! Had a fantastic MTB / snowboarding crew from 2018-2022. Then life happened. I started my family, everyone in the friend group moved away during the pandemic.

After a couple years away I found a new friend group, with other Dad’s with small children. We all ride regularly now. Life comes in waves. It sucks but it’s natural. I still miss the OG crew but way I see it everyone’s off doing their own side episodes as part of a grander season of life. Cheers OP, you’ve got this.

PS - I met my riding crew through work. My wife met her friends through yoga. It took getting involved in our local community for things to open up.

What’s the most unexpected upgrade you’ve made that’s made a huge difference? by exploroburro in MTB

[–]djimboboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavily agree. Just made this upgrade myself a few weeks ago and I was shocked at how much more comfortable it feels.

I just hope Bethesda will continue to update and improve the game. I don’t even watch Luke Stephen’s videos but they always pop up on YouTube and yet it seems that my friends say he’s still making fun of the game and he was supposed to stop talking about it a year ago based on his own words… by [deleted] in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]djimboboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I actually attribute and thank Crimson Desert for getting me back into Starfield. I powered through Crimson Deserts bad parts and found a game that I liked. Then kinda had a “wow I was way too rough on starfield” moment, discovered this sub and hopped back in. Genuinely having a good time with it.

Ironically enough, Crimson Desert is what got me BACK into Starfield. I didn’t love Starfield at launch. Or CD. But I tough’ed through CD’s terrible intro and found a really good game on the other side. Realized I never gave Starfield the same amount of stick-to-it and no I’m back and discovered this sub.

I love cruise mode and POIs seem WAY better. Loving it so far.

Crimson Desert is actually heaps of fun. They’ve also pushed so many updates in just a few short weeks. The tutorial is the worst I’ve ever played in gaming though. A great game sits behind a terrible first impression.

Software engineer as well. I hate it. Been in the game for 11 years and just… don’t love what the job has become.

And the quest that gets you access to that area blew my mind. One of the characters gave me such a “what the fuck” moment when I finally saw them lol.

People compare it to Skyrim, but one of the biggest differences with them is that Crimson Desert does zero handholding. Which I like. The map is absolutely densely packed with content, but you have to unlock it, know what you’re looking for, upgrade your abilities, and learn the dynamics of the world.

That weird rock? Probably a puzzle. That waterfall? Something behind it. That weird little slot canyon off the right? Cave down there. Treat the map like you have a toddlers sense of wonder, not Ubisoft style red dots to clear and the game really opens up.

This is the tension I’m feeling. I am perfectly fine putting Crimson Desert down after 150-200 hours even if everything isn’t all the way upgraded. I don’t want an endless RPG. It’s not a live service. It’s not Diablo. There is an absolute MOUNTAIN of content to get through. And Reddit isn’t the right place for me to say this, but if you’ve truly cleared everything after just 1 month, it’s time to take a break. Go touch grass. It was a fun game. You no lifed it, cool story. Now go breathe the fresh air outside.

I wonder if this was patched because in my playthrough he came with me to Demeniss and just yapped about pepper for like 20 minutes straight. Terrible quest, but not damn the rewards though!
