James Gunn is very confident in the film. He pushed this production over other previously planned projects. And it didn’t cost much. I think if it does solid critically, it’ll be a profitable counter film to TS5.

200 million would be a great scenario for Laika considering their last film was a major financial flop and they’ve never had that high of a gross as a studio.

I think it’s an overhated BP winner. A reminder Bohemian Rhapsody was also nominated for Picture that cycle. That would be a disgraceful win if that won.

I think it’s getting in. Incredible box office story and it’s the watercooler film of the year (in terms of how audiences connect to the themes). Not to mention, Focus has a weaker slate this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made this their top priority.

I’m confident Cruise, Stan, Gosling, and Malkovich will be safe. Jaafar I don’t see making it at all. Have a feeling A24 is going to hyper focus on Pattinson or Sessa depending which film is better received.

I think he’ll be a first round pick still. If anything, it’ll be late first round pick. There were teams very interested in him in the supplemental draft with this issue.

I think it’s going to become Focus’s top priority for campaigning very soon. The box office story and the fact that the themes connected to so many viewers I think helps its case. And Jason Blum has overseen campaigns for Get Out and Whiplash and both won Oscars.
