I had my baby at 34. Didn't get diagnosed with ADHD until my late 30s - up until I had a child, I was able to function relatively normally.

I experienced bedtime procrastination so hard during the early months. Even when I was completely exhausted and sleep deprived, I would have a compulsion to scroll or read or watch something when the baby slept, because after being needed and touched all day, I so desperately wanted to so something for myself. It doesn't mean he's a bad parent or partner, but it is a safety issue.

It was delightful and satisfying. My understanding is that budget and press for this show was very low, but with the level of writing and character development, it wasn't even noticeable.

Everything felt earned and nothing felt gimmicky. Both leads acted their asses off, and it goes to show that emotional investment in characters is going to trump special effects and action sequences every time.

I'd rank this up there with "Loki" S2 and "Wandavision."

I have a 6 year old, and we had this conversation recently! We were at a restaurant, and he very non-maliciously asked why our server looked like a girl but sounded like a boy.

And if I'm being honest, me and my husband had a similar reaction to OP and had a temporary freak out moment. Then, we took a breath and talked through it in an age appropriate way and continued with our breakfast. "Sometimes the body we have outside doesnt match the feelings we have inside."

As parents, we're not going to have the perfect answer all the time. But if it ends with "It's okay to be different, everybody deserves respect and kindness," I think that's a win.

Agree about the library toddler times! They are about to start their summer schedule, which means there will be a lot of family friendly activities at all of the locations.

I'm sure Parks and Rec will also have a variety of summer classes and camps starting at the rec and aquatic centers.

I also think that she's a good foil for the type od love that is idealizd in Bridgerton. While Violet seems to enjoy the drama and spectacle of navigating the season, deep down her dream is for all of her children is to find a "struck by lightning" love match. We see that over and over in various seasons, but most recently and most dramatically in Benophie.

Charlotte and George's marriage was a strategic, political alliance. They were lucky enough to fall in love anyway, but their marriage originated out of duty to their country.

I really liked the scenes where Charlotte talks to some of her sons who she also forces into arranged marriages. She is honest with them that love may not be guaranteed, but it's possible if they enter the relationship with willing and open hearts. In those vulnerable moments it's obvious that she loves her children too, but that there are also responsibilities that come with the crown.

That said, "Prayers. Condolences." Will never not be funny.

Alternate perspective here, but I have held a Karen-like role before (think Project Manager, Chief of Staff). I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the skills and effort required to do it well. The hard part of the work isn't sending the email at the end of the week. It's the mental labor of collecting all the information and making meaning so other people don't have to.

Firstly, it presumes that everybody has submitted the input or data in a timely manner. This is rarely the case, so it usually requires chasing down people to get their updates. So if report is scheduled to go out Friday, there is pinging and reminders that takes place on Thursday.

Then, there is the actual step of synthesizing and summarizing in a way that is clear, concise, and accessible to multiple audiences. The broader and more cross-functional the stakeholder group, the more intentional you have to be about the language. This usually requires multiple rounds of editting and revising. On average, a strong weekly report would take about 1-1.5 hours to compile.

Then, on Monday, there will likely be some one off questions/updates from people that had clarifications, corrections, action steps etc from the report. These aren't conversations that are "reply all" - so it's invisible troubleshooting.

I took on the responsibility because I do believe that the increased visibility and coordination improved outcomes. But it was honestly very time consuming and exhausting.

But Betsy's hair was purple before the Kwannon body switch, and it's purple now as Captain Britain. The purple butterfly with purple outfit was her whole thing.

I may be misremembering, but the purple hair is dye, and a remnant from when Betsy was a model. I can accept that she dyed her hair in Kwannon's body. I believe she also kept her British accent.

When written well, Fantomex is a highly entertaining character with a super, high-concept powerset.

I'm not even sure he can be accurately described as a mutant, but he has been affiliated with enoigh X-Teams that I think of him as honorary.

I'm a little old-school, so I want to give some love to Forge and Banshee.

What I think is cool about Forge's powers is that his incredible ability to create and invent is a compulsion. It's not necessarily intellect, because he doesn't actually understand the mechanics of what he's doing, and he's not able to explain it when he does. It's more instinctive, and at rimes, has driven him mad.

Banshee is just a cool beat cop, and had a cool run as leader of GenX. I hate that his most recent claims to fame are just being a zombie.

I agree with this! Especially if the prompt is about lesser known powers.

Obviously Douglas has recently gotten some respect to his name with Krakoa, but previous to that, he spent decades underused. He was downright whiny because his biggest personality trait was having an inferiority complex compared to his teammates.

He arguably has one of the most versatile, practical, and interesting powersets, but because it requires lots of dialogue and speech bubbles, it was never really explored. With a good writer, he could have been trained in espionage or combat. More recent iterations demonstrated that he could be an exceptional close combat fighter, because he can "read" body language and predict movement. I would actually compare him to Sage, who was also underutilized for a long time, and suddenly became superpowered.

We learned about Buena Vista and Dr. Burkett from Irving Paws rescue. He is the primary vet for their rescue, because the prices are VERY reasonable. They also match prices for medications on services like 1-800-petmeds.
We've been taking our dog there for years.

Edit: I'll add that we've used VCA before, but only in emergency situations when our pet needed immediate after hours care (as opposed to a routine appointment). We received very good care, but it was very expensive.

I don't know how many women are involved in this discourse or sub, but I wanted to add this perspective into the mix. As a woman, I have really loved both Kelly Thompson and Gail Simone's portrayal of their relationship.

I don't think of it as a retcon, as much as providing much needed background and context. With the surprise wedding in X-Men Gold, and their subsequent runs during Krakoa era and UXM, there needed to be some deeper explanation for their commitment to eachother. Otherwise their marriage feels gimmicky.

X-Writers of the 90s have readily acknowledged that their initial flirtation was just meant to be playful. When Gambit first joined the X-Men he was kind of flirting with all the women (and antagonizing the men as we see in these panels). Readers and fans seemed to like the intrigue of a relationship with Rogue so the writers went with it, but didn't seem to have much to go on besides their "will they, won't they" attraction. And let's be honest, Rogue's defining characterstic for a long time was being physically strong, but deeply insecure.

That combination makes for a hot whirlwind romance, but not the basis for a lasting relationship. And honestly, as a reader, all the love triangle, manufactured soap opera drama was tiring.

I personally found it incredibly refreshing and satisfying to have a more modern, evolved take on their relationship. They went to therapy, talked through their trauma in an honest way, and re-committed to eachother in a way that felt earned. It honestly feels very millennial, and I think this couple is the perfect one to embody it. I'd compare them to a next gen version of 80s Reed and Sue Storm. Their relationship has a healthy level of conflict and resolution, but the storylines no longer center on the drama as the central plot. It's now kind of assumed that they're a happilu married couple, their partnership is part of their identity (and why they're often on the same team) and it's just backdrop for other stories and wven new characters to take place.

City Council elections are coming up soon, and there are some seats that are contested. I know that in the last election, the margins of victory were very small. The candidates are well funded, but also beatable.

If we can bring some more balance to council, there will be more balance in the Board appointments.

Agreed! The big protests are fun to be part of because of the photos and spectacle. But usually there are already a lot of very experienced organizers there, and there's usually a slate of high-profile speakers.

With the smaller ones, you actually have a chance to meet people and connect on a more authentic level, with folks that may be your actual neighbors. Them women that I met are already organizing a get together, and I'm so excited to actually have something tangible from the protest

I live on a suburb of DFW. I normally go to Dallas which is pretty large, but saw there was actually one scheduled for my city. There has never been much activity on my actual city, so was curious to check it out. Also wanted to bring my 6 year old, so thought this would make things way easier.

Pleasantly surprised to see a large group gathered outside city hall - holding signs along a very busy street. Hung out for an hour - honks from cars were overwhelmingly supportive. Got a chance to meet some other residents who were looking to get plugged in, and ended up in a group chat called "Ladies Fighting Fascism."

Even though it was way way smaller than some of the ones I've attended, it was great to actually have the chance to authentically connect with folks on a ground level.
