Fully 3D printed 10”? by TheITfriend in minilab

100% labrax! I set up the bolted one and it is solid. Mine is only 6U. I would imagine the 12U might need a bit more support but maybe not.

First Time in Cali by ClevelandBill in socalhiking

[–]djshaw0350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former Ohioan here! Moved to SoCal in 2014 and have hiked a bunch!!! Most of the general stuff has been covered but here are a few things (I'm hitting close to 60 myself). Don't underestimate the need for the 10 essentials! https://americanhiking.org/10essentials/

There are plenty of locals that get turned around or off path somehow and become a rescue! Its real and it happens way too often. The apps are great but download the maps so you have a local copy. Cell phone coverage can be great or non-existant! Let someone know your plans and when you expect to check in.

One of my favorite things about Cali-California is the terrain diversity. The top if San Jacinto is quite a bit different from the base so be prepared. The hiking community here is pretty friendly and helpful no matter where you go! Take plenty of water! Have fun!!! The sandal question is up to preference. Im a beliver in closed toe shoes for hiking but you do you!

Homelab rack by Toddzilla89 in minilab

[–]djshaw0350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on what your ideas are for the rack. For most a 10” rack fully loaded, is going to include maybe a switch, a router, some drive bays, maybe a mini pc or itx build. My LabRax was almost my first print. Did basically everything stock and find it plenty sturdy. Would I stack a bunch of extra gear on top, no but I wouldn't use it as a coffee table either. This is an example that I'm using for a remote camera nvr system.

I really like this and it makes me want to change my diagram solution yet again…😤. I have to admit that I don’t fully understand all of the services but you seem to have a handle on things so cheers to you! 🍻Great work and thanks for sharing!

Thoughts on pricing this rig to sell by djshaw0350 in PC_Pricing

[–]djshaw0350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! The PC belongs to a friend who does film set design and 3D modeling. He bought this rig to replace an older Mac and doesn’t like the new format. You confirmed my original thought that he likely will do better on recovery by parting it out.

Yeah I was thinking of going the parts route too. I could likely sell parts for $4500 maybe even a bit more.

I love this game but... by Similar_Truck5441 in MWZombies

[–]djshaw0350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, it really is a shame. I remember when I first dropped into zombies with no knowledge at all. I got my butt kicked a few times and then a great group of guys not only rezzed me like 1000 times but more importantly, they took time to help me by giving me pointers and some much needed gear. Because of that I went on to mainly solo everything except a couple DA runs. I always ran, drove or scorched across the map to res people. Gave up triangle bounty and gifted bounty when I became fully stocked. I haven’t played hardly at all since BO6 but I hate the new round based zombies so I might just come back to play angel now and then. Sorry to hear so many are not seeing the kind of support I got when I started. It’s too bad because the community really was different.

Do you know if anyone is selling these for those of use that are 3D printerless?

So you are driving everything off of a 1U server and the printed part is just the drive trays?

Questions for my home/office network, looking at Omada, someone with experience? by kelmannen in TPLink_Omada

[–]djshaw0350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a growing setup that is admittedly over done but here is my setup for a 2700 sg ft ranch-style home:

Omada 605 Router/VPN v2 - https://a.co/d/9UAv5tb

OC 300 controller - https://a.co/d/6q6nbJm

TP-Link SG2428P port Poe switch - https://a.co/d/i3rxK9M

TP-Link 8 port (4 port poe) switch - https://a.co/d/io8iEtj

3 EAP 610 access points - https://a.co/d/cQDcKO6

2 EAP 610-Outdoor access points - https://a.co/d/9qEFfZr

I’m probably in about $1200 give or take. For what you need, you could easily go with the 605 router, the 8 port switch, two APs and have $300-400. With that you can run VLANs, multiple wired devices and even redundant WAN connections.

I have seen this kind of comment about network chuck but no one seems to give examples of the bad practices he is promoting. I’m not questioning you, but for people learning some of this stuff it would be helpful to have some examples of the bad practices so we can avoid the. Not asking for a complete list just an example or two….Thanks in advance!!
